"Alex, I don't know what to say, but I hope you know that I'm here for you," I said softly, my heart aching for his sadness.
He turned to me, his eyes shimmering with warmth. "Somehow, I had a feeling you would say that."
"Did you?" I asked, surprised, my hand gently caressing his arm. "Maybe it's because you've been here for me too. When I was at my most desperate, hurt by Matt and Sophia, you were there for me. You protected me and brought me back with you."
He locked eyes with me, tucking a stray lock of hair behind my ear.
Feeling deeply touched, I continued, "You also make me feel appreciated. You make me feel wanted, and cherished. When others despised me for my inability to connect with my wolf, you stood by me unwaveringly. You even sent me the antler you risked your life for in the fight."
