Caroline took a deep breath, "Well, have you met Linda?"
"Yes, I saw her briefly. She appeared genuinely concerned about Alex. They must have been very close," I replied.
Sensing my downcast state, Caroline emphasized, "Don't say that, Emma. They used to be close, but not anymore."
"Why?" I inquired, my curiosity piqued.
"Because Linda has chosen Andrew over Alex. They are engaged and will be getting married soon," Caroline explained, her expression a mix of sadness and anger. "She betrayed Alex, and I was happy for him because I never thought she was right for him. But you should know, the news shattered Alex's heart."
What? Andrew? At that moment, his pale and intimidating face materialized in my mind. Why would anyone choose him over Alex?
