Chapter 36 - First Fight To Come

Zions' P.O.V.

After Rain announced that she would be stepping up to take the trial challenge that'll determine her candidacy for the throne of the Witch Queen, I linked Sam to send a list of the remaining coven leaders that will be invited to our ceremonies on Rains' behalf to the organizers. And they informed me that they would get the invitations sent out before the end of the day and have them hand-delivered.

Rain, Lady Ezmerelda, and Jessica decide to start Rains' magic training while we wait for the arrival of the coven. I sent Evan and three other guards with them to the weight room on the training grounds and told them they could use anything they needed. After they left, it was just Orian, Sam, and I in my office while we talked about different things that needed to be done around the Kingdom for two hours while we waited for an update from James.

"How's everything looking on your side?" I ask James.

"Everything looks good on this side. Gps says one hour and twelve minutes till our arrival." He answers.

"Okay, I'm sending another group of forty worriers to meet you halfway," I say, looking at Orian, who nods in understanding.

"Everything okay, my King?" James asks.

"I'm getting a strange feeling, so I'm sending them as a precaution," I answer, and he nods.

"They are leaving now, my King," Orian says.

"Thank you, Orian," I say before turning to the screen. "They will meet you halfway, James."

After that, I sent Orian to check on Rains' progress. I could have asked Evan threw the link, but I didn't want to distract him from his duty guarding the ladies. When he returned, he had a look of amazement in his eyes as I asked him for an update on her progress.

"She's a natural, my King." He says. "She's already mastered two of the four elemental spells. And she can hold them quite well. She's only been at it for a little over two hours, and she's made so much progress. It's unbelievable."

"I knew she could do it. She is capable of anything she puts her mind to." I say. "But I'm not looking forward to her combat training after this."

"Is she really inviting Jessicas' old pack Alpha and his son to the ceremonies?" He asks, and I can't help but laugh.

"She absolutely is," I say. "And I can't wait to see when she has planned for them."

An hour goes by as I talk with Orian, Sam, and James about Rain and Jessicas' old pack, what she has planned for the coven, and how she wants to check out the orphanage later. We even discuss the combat training she will start after she's completed her magic training.

"She really is going to be the perfect Queen," Sam says, and we all agree.

"And since we've already marked each other, I'll be giving her the same ring my father gave my mother for their mating ceremony," I say.

"Would you like me to go get it from the safe?" Orian asks, and I shake my head.

"No need. I already have it." I say as I pull the box holding the ring out of my desk drawer. "I grabbed it the morning after Rain woke up from her coma." And Orian laughs. Suddenly, James disappears from the screen as we hear screams and growls, and we're all up and alert.

"Orian, check their location. Sam, go to the training grounds to escort everyone to my suite and make sure that Mrs.Clair and Odett are there!" I say as I run out of my office and shift as soon as I reach the castle doors.

"How far out are they, Orian?" I ask through the link.

"They're right outside our north-west border. I've alerted patrol. And I'm dispatching forty more worriers to James' location." He answers.

"Good job. Can you tell what's happening on the monitor?" I ask. "And I need an update on Rain and the others."

"Sam is on his way back to your suite with the Queen, Lady Ezmerelda, and Jessica now, and the guards are with them. But the monitors are all offline." He says, and I curse.

I quickly make my way toward the northwest border, pushing Ryker to run faster as I start smelling blood, Rogues, witches, and dark fairies. By the time I make it to the fight, it's almost over. I look around and see the witches from the coven have cast protection spells over my worriers as they fight hard to protect their charges. There are dead bodies everywhere. Unfortunately, a few of them are my worriers.

Seeing my worriers fighting so hard and the bodies of my dead worriers makes my blood boil, and I jump into the fight with a loud growl. I rip off a rogues' head before running to the next one I see. After another minute or so, the fighting is over now that all the attackers are dead, and Orian links me to let me know that the monitors are back online.

"Get all the injured into the busses and go straight to the hospital, and all witches are to stay at the hospital until I return," I order, and everyone starts moving quickly. Suddenly I hear Rain in my head.

"Are you okay? How are the witches and the worriers?" She asks in a panic.

"I'm fine. A few casualties but more injuries. I've sent them to the hospital with the witches from the coven while the rest of us clean up this mess." I tell her, and she slightly calms down.

"Okay, My mother and I will meet them at the hospital. Don't worry, we'll take Sam and Evan with us, but the rest of the guards will stay with Jess and Odett." She says before the link is closed.

It takes about twenty minutes to get everything cleaned up. We pile up the attackers' dead bodies and set fire to them. Then we grab our dead worriers to take back for a proper burial and make our way to the hospital.
