Chapter 37 - He Was Never Yours

Rains' P.O.V.

While practicing my magic with my mom and Jess, Sam comes rushing in, saying there has been an attack and that we should get to the suite immediately. We don't argue with him as we get up and head for the castle with Sam in front of us and the guards following behind us.

"Where is the attack at? Was it on the coven witches?" I ask Sam.

"It's at the border of the Kingdom territory, the witches and our warriors are holding their own, and the King and more warriors are on their way there as we speak." He answers as we enter the castle and go up the stairs to our suite.

"Thank you for being honest with me," I say as we get to our floor. I suddenly feel something wrong when I look at our suite door and realize the guards are gone. Only thinking of Odett, I make a run for the door. Sam tries to stop me, but I slip past him quickly and open the door.

As I enter our suite, I'm in shock to see a crazed-looking Ashley standing in our living room with a knife to Odetts' throat and Mrs.Clairs dead body at her feet. I can feel the rage building up and Dosha trying to push forward at the sight of Odett in danger again. All I can think about is the fight with the rogue that threatened Odett in the same way. It makes my blood boil.

"How did you get in here?" I ask. "What do you want?"

"I want what is mine! And after I kill you and your bastard child, he will come back to me, and I will finally have the Queen title." She says with a creepy grin and black eyes.

"He was never yours. You were simply a bed warmer. A means to an end while he was waiting for me. And if you kill us, that will only make him want to end your life more than he already does." I say, getting even more irritated. "If you hurt her, I will kill you!"

"You will kill me? That's hilarious!" She says with an evil laugh. "You couldn't even help yourself when I tried to kill you. You can't do shit now!"

"That was with me. But this is my child." I say as I'm suddenly in front of her, and her blood splatters all over the room and across my face. I look down only to realize I'm the one that killed her. I have no recollection of moving up to her or releasing my claws and slitting her throat. Sam runs up beside me checking my body for any injuries, while my mom and Jess do the same to Odett.

"We need a cleaning crew in here. Burn that bitches body, and please take Mrs.Clairs' body to the morgue to be cleaned up until we can contact her family. I'll tell the King about this when he's handled the attack. Also, find out what happened to the guards that were supposed to be watching over them." I say, looking over at Sam to see him still in shock as he nods. I then turn my attention to Odett.

"Are you okay, baby girl?" I ask her.

"Mamma, her blood smells so bad." She says, and I'm relieved

that that's all she's worried about.

"That's because she died a rogue," I tell her, then look over at Jess. "Will you get her cleaned up and watch her in your and Orians' suite?"

"Of course, sis!" Jess says as she takes her hand and leads her out of the suite, and I motion for the guards to go with them.

"Mom, what was that?" I ask her, referring to the fact that I killed her before I realized I had moved.

"It must be a hybrid thing. Your instincts kicked into overdrive and took care of everything for you." She says as Sam finishes his search of the suite as maids and warriors enter, looking shocked.

"I have found the missing guards, my Queen. She killed them and put their dead bodies in the master bedroom." He says, and I nod. I link Zion to check on him, then head to the hospital with Sam and my mom, leaving the maids cleaning up and the guards to take the dead bodies to the morgue.

Zions' P.O.V.

After taking our dead worriers back to the morgue to be cleaned up so that their families can see them one last time, I make my way to see the injured. I counted twelve of my warriors that received injuries in the fight, but when I walked into the large exam room, I saw only five worriers left, and my mate and her mother were standing among them. Had this been all that made it out alive?

"Is this all that made it out of all the injured?" I ask Rain, trying hard not to show how upset I am.

"What? No, my love, these are just the ones who haven't received healing yet." She says, and I instantly relax. "The others are standing guard with the witches."

"You didn't heal them all by yourself, did you?" I ask, remembering what happened the last time she healed multiple people.

"No, my mom and another witch helped." She says, and I finally notice that she has blood all over her.

"Is all that blood from the warriors?" I ask her.

"Oh, umm, about that," She says nervously. "It's Ashleys' blood." I freeze in confusion.

"What? How is that possible?" I ask her in my confusion and worry.

"She was in our suite with a knife to Odetts' throat when my mom, Jess, and I made it back. I started having flashbacks to that day in the woods with the rogue, and before I knew it, I had killed her." She said with ease, and I think my mind shorted out momentarily. When I returned to reality, she was tending to one of the warriors that was left.

"How did she get into our suite? How did she get into our territory without anyone noticing?" I ask.

"I'm not sure, but she's been taken care of." She says.

"I'm sorry you had to deal with her, my love," I say as I wrap my arms around her, kissing the top of her head.
