Chapter 3 - The fine art of bullshit

December 31, 2017.

I destroyed one of that bastard's main ammo factories.

I wish I could've seen the look on his face when he got there and saw his precious weapons burning into the flames I lit up.

He's going to die by my hands soon enough.

I will kill him.

Pushing open the door to her now new apartment, Haven threw the keys on the bed and pushed her leg back to close the door. Her eyes darted around, surveying the surroundings as quickly as she could.

Well, this is... clean?

Haven stood at the threshold of the small, cluttered bedroom, taking in the scene before her with a mix of intrigue and concern. The unkept bed spoke of a restless night or perhaps a hasty departure, while the closed laptop in the middle of it seemed almost forgotten. The room exuded an air of disarray, as if its inhabitant had been preoccupied or in a hurry, leaving behind traces of her presence.

Stepping further into the room, Haven's gaze shifted towards the closet, which stood like a chaotic monument to the girl's fashion choices. The doors were thrown wide open, revealing a jumble of clothes, shoes, and accessories hastily strewn about. It seemed as though she had been searching for something specific, unable to find it in the flurry of the moment.

Her eyes caught the table beside the bed and narrowed down into a small frown.

It was full of different types of bottles all full of tablets of different colors.

Don't tell me she was a druggie?!

Picking up one of the tablets, she rolled it between her fingers but didn't recognize it as a drug she was familiar with. There was no powder either thankfully, making the chances of them being drugs decrease lower with each second.

The last thing she wanted was her body to be addicted to all this shit.

Cracking her neck, she plopped down on the bed and glanced at the dark laptop which seemed like the most precious thing this girl seemed to have had.

'I need to get my things back from my apartment too though.'

That wasn't going to be as easy as taking a stroll down the park. Her fingers rolled down into a fist when she imagined Ezekiel-fucking-Wei exploring her room and going through her stuff. Haven couldn't put this job off for longer than a day, she needed to get her stuff back as soon as possible. All that information she had gathered over these 7 years was probably worth trillions by now.

The best time to go hunting was when the Sun drowned under the ocean.

Taking out the girl's phone, she bit her bottom lip softly when 11:55 flashed on the home screen. It was a long while until it struck midnight so she had to find something to do meanwhile.

Step 1: Get acquainted with her new situation as best as she could.

Hurriedly dressing into a plain white shirt and black jeans, she grabbed a dark mask on her way out the door. She wasn't too worried about anybody recognizing her. She did look a lot like this person but there were some major differences in their personality, looks, and name.

Haven Lee had no acquaintances let alone 'friends.' Before she died, her hair had been raven black but chocolate brown didn't look too bad on her. Her eyes which had been ocean blue back then were now the same color as her new hair.

The only person she was close to in the Top 10 wouldn't recognize her either even if they did end up talking. But considering the time she and Gavin had spent together, she still needed to be careful to not reveal her identity accidentally.

For now, she needed to be cautious around everybody. Trusting her own shadow could be perilous to her and dying again so soon wasn't in her plans. She didn't know how long it would take for CIA to find out that Agent Chen had finally dropped down dead.

Some of them might be ecstatic, Haven thought and smirked. Others... not so much.

Jogging down to the parking lot, she spotted the motorbike the previous owner of this body must've bought. Haven nodded her head in approval as she stepped towards the vehicle.

At least she didn't have bad taste I guess.

Swinging her right leg over the other side, she placed on her helmet and inserted the keys in the hole. The engine wasted no time in roaring to life, and in less than 5 seconds she was driving toward the main CIA building.

The Chief Intelligence Agency had its main headquarters in Country X and that was where both Haven Lee and Haven Chen worked in different departments. This proved helpful since if she worked in another Country somewhere, the distance would've been problematic and too time-consuming.

The bike halted outside the parking area, and Haven flipped her head back to take the helmet off and place it on the bike after making sure it was locked. Gazing at the skyscraper in front of her, she started walking toward the main door where two massive security guards stood. They were covered in ammunition from top to bottom and instantly blocked her way with a massive rifle.

"ID." one of them demanded in their hoarse voice and Haven sighed, sliding her hand down one of her pockets.

Handing them her new ID card, they looked it over on both sides, scanned her face after making her lower the mask down, and finally allowed her in after 5 minutes of visual interrogation.

Whether it was one of the Top 10, these entry checks were compulsory no matter what. Security protocols were necessary to make sure no intruders ended up where they weren't supposed to go.

People saw her without the mask yet didn't show any sign of surprise. It seemed that she wouldn't have to hide herself too much as a disguise. The only question she had was why she hadn't seen her 80% duplicate around the building. But the answer was clear enough: Haven never visited the IT department unless it was important for one of her missions. Even in that case, it was mostly Gavin who had gotten the data to her.

She had planned to do this tomorrow, but since she was free right now and it would be hours before the sky darkened, why not finish the job now?

The sooner, the better.

The elevator stopped when the 99th floor was reached. She got weird glances as she stepped out and headed straight to the Head of the Strategic Department.

Haven knew he wouldn't listen to her until they saw what she was capable of and until the news of her death spread throughout the whole building.

A mission that was already being handled by an Agent couldn't be transferred to another Agent unless the Agent backed off or died.

Knocking on the door, she entered as soon as she heard a deep "Come in."

Victor Feng's brows rose when he saw an unfamiliar girl in his office. She didn't look like she belonged in his department but nonetheless, he opened his mouth to ask,

"What are you here for?"

Haven bowed slightly. "I'm Haven Lee from the IT Department." the creases on his forehead eased out when he heard that but the curiosity in his eyes was plainly visible to her.

"And what do you want with the Strategic Department, Agent Lee?"

She raised her eyes to meet his.

"I want you to hand over Ezekiel Wei's case to me."
