I feel this weird feeling in my chest.
As if something not quite of this world is asking me to give in and find them.
As if my heart is begging to let go and finally reach home.
I can't give in.
I need to kill him.
I—I will kill him.

Kaizen Avenue, Country X.
The sky was dark, a vast expanse of obsidian velvet adorned with a magnificent tapestry of twinkling stars, each one a luminescent beacon of distant worlds. The Moon, nestled in a corner of this celestial canvas, stood as a solitary sentinel, radiating a mesmerizing glow that surpassed even the most resplendent star in its luminosity.
In this serene nocturnal realm, the ebony firmament seemed to stretch infinitely, allowing the stars to scatter like diamonds scattered upon a black satin sheet. Their collective brilliance cast a spellbinding spell upon all who gazed upward, evoking a sense of wonder and awe that transcended the boundaries of time and space.
Amidst this cosmic symphony, a faint figure could be seen climbing a building dressed in complete black from top to bottom. A rope dangled beneath her as she continued to ascend higher and higher and finally paused as she reached the middle of the apartment and slid open the window through which she had been previously kidnapped.
Jumping in through the opening, her chocolate brown orbs darted around frantically in search of any other intruders who had wanted to grab the ever-so-important data that she gathered over all these years.
As she slowly looked over the chaos spread around the room and the broken pieces of her cupboard lining up the floor, her senses flared a warning alert inside her mind.
Something didn't feel right. Yet she couldn't pinpoint what it was and that only increased her anxiety at someone having reached here before she could've.
'Fuck it, just grab the laptop and make a run for it.'
Crouching down before her bed, she pulled away the wooden board that somehow got removed with just a small push. A hidden compartment opened up and sliding her hand down the space, Haven pulled out her laptop which thankfully was still there and in perfect mint condition.
Before she could release a sigh, however, a voice sounded through the room which made every part of her freeze all over.
"So that's where she hid it huh?"
'Fuck.'
'Fuck!'
'FUCK!'
It was the work of a moment. She stood up and dashed for the window, thankful for her mask which hid her face but that attempt to flee failed horribly instead.
A hand on her arm and she froze all over again, cursing her mind for choosing this very moment to give in. She did expect this and it was her fault that she dismissed her subconscious when it warned her of a sign of danger.
Of course, that bastard sent his minions to gather her precious treasure.
Spinning around, she aimed her leg high at the man's head but he ended up dodging it by moving sideways, thankfully dropping his hand from her arm simultaneously too. Haven breathed out in relief. For some reason, it felt as if her body had readily given in to his touch even though he was wearing gloves just like her.
'Smart guy...'
Speaking would prove perilous if the guy ended up recognizing her voice later on somewhere. It was dark and as she squinted her eyes, she could see the faint outline of his figure with the help of the moonlight shining through.
He was taller than the average man, but she couldn't figure out anything else apart from that. However, she was a tiny bit impressed at how he hid himself just like she had tried to. The cap on top of his head, hid his hair as well as his eyes just like she had done with hers.
She took a step back, testing and trying to see his reaction through his body language. He didn't reveal anything and only slipped his hand into his jacket.
If it was going to be a revolver, the only thing she could do was quickly flip back and jump out of the building while evading his attempts to murder her at the same time.
'If not, then he's getting flipped off for making me lose control over my very own body!'
However, what he took out, caused her eyes to widen as she stumbled back and lost her calm composure for a whole second before she could contain herself back again.
It was her diary.
The very item where all her secrets had been noted down, not in detail, but briefly. All her hatred and misery which she had tried to pour into words. And it was in the hands of her very enemy.
His head was still down as she continued to walk back, internally bidding farewell to her dead companion who she now had to leave in the hands of her rival. Seeing that this wasn't going to stop her, the guy's head rose and just as she was going to spin around and jump, Haven stopped.
Not willingly, but automatically.
It was the man's eyes that did it. As she gazed into their depths, her heart squeezed with an indescribable emotion, a potent mixture of longing and enchantment. The intensity of his gaze overwhelmed her senses, causing her to momentarily lose herself in the vast ocean of his eyes. In that fleeting moment, all the troubles and turmoil that had plagued her in this tumultuous situation seemed to dissipate into the background.
The weight of fury, like a smoldering fire within her, dwindled into mere embers, subdued by the captivating power of his gaze. Sorrow, which had been carved into her heart, faded away, replaced by a sense of serenity she hadn't experienced in ages. Loneliness, once an unwelcome companion, retreated into the recesses of her mind as his eyes bridged the gap between their souls.
In those irises, she found solace, a refuge from the chaos of the world. With each passing second, the connection between them grew stronger, tugging at her very core. Time itself seemed to halt as if the universe conspired to grant them an extra precious minute.
The man's eyes were a mesmerizing symphony of emotions—a silent invitation, an unspoken promise, a profound understanding. They held secrets untold, mysteries waiting to be unraveled, and a depth that seemed to stretch into infinity. In their depths, she saw a reflection of her own desires and dreams, a kaleidoscope of possibilities.
In those eyes, she found a fleeting respite from the burdens of existence. They ignited a longing within her, a yearning to prolong the spellbound moment, to freeze the world in suspended animation. For just a bit longer, she wished to bask in the captivating aura of his gaze, to let it wash over her and fill the voids that life had left behind.
It was the man's eyes that did it. In their captivating depths, she found solace, desire, and a profound connection. They became a beacon in the darkness, guiding her towards a reality where the universe held infinite possibilities, all within the grasp of their shared gaze.
He took a step forward just as Haven leaned back and allowed herself to fall back into the darkness that she was made of.
A darkness that was her prison.
