Chapter 16 - Ch 16 :The Adventurer’s Guild

Adventurer 1: "Since when the Adventurers Guild was a place for kids?"

Adventurer 2: "Do they expect us to be a babysitter?"

Adventurer 3: "Hey Charly, prepare yourself to change his diapers, hahaha."

Gritting his teeth, Martin ignored the adventures taunting words and kept on heading to the reception. He knew that it could end badly if he made enemies out of them when he is not even strong enough to contend with bonafide adventures.

The next moment, Martin saw his vision blur, and get pushed to the side. When he looked back, he saw a tall and muscular guy holding a golden spear glaring at him, as if he were looking at an ant, arrogantly passing by him and talking to the receptionist.

Martin was dumbfounded, how dare he treat him with such disrespect? Looking at himself, he found the situation reasonable. After all, he was in a teenager's body, he felt a huge pressure from this group, and just from pushing him aside, Martin felt the strength that this individual possessed.

Chuckling at himself, Martin found this situation hilarious, turning around with bloodshot eyes and a crazy expression.

A low voice of an old man stopped him:

"Don't get worked up young man. Do not get involved with that group."

"Who are these people", Martin replied with a crazy expression.

"They are the Hero's Party, and the guy who pushed you is the hero himself."

"The hero you say. Isn't the hero supposed to protect the weak", Martin replied as he was eying the group.

Releasing a sigh, the old man whispered, "That's what he is supposed to do, but ever since he got the blessing of the goddess of power, he has been exploiting his power over the week, and rumors are saying that he plays a major role in the corruption that this that is happening in the Kingdom."

"Why don't they stop him then?"

"It isn't that easy; he was given the title of the hero for a reason."

"I see, thank you, old man."

Saying those words, Martin headed to the doors, passing by a woman who had tall brown hair and brown eyes with a devilish body.

"Excuse me, young man.", the woman stopped Martin.

"Yes?", Martin replied.

"Are you an adventurer by any chance, haven't seen you here before."

"No, I was about to register as one before these guys interrupted me."

The woman watched Martin's every move and sized him up with suspicious looks.

"I noticed that you are quite young to be an adventurer, might I ask if you are in an Academy?"

"No ma'am I'm not. I'm not even from the city I was on my way leaving it."

"What about enrolling in the Imperial Magic Academy, I even heard that it has dorms for its students, that's a good offer for students who live far from it, and one more thing don't call me ma'am, do I look that old to you, my name is Lana Landford."

"If you can't already tell, I'm not a noble Miss Langford, so joining the Academy isn't an option, plus I don't have the money to do so."

Hearing her name whispers can be heard across the hall :

"Hey, did I hear that right did she say her name was Lana Landford"

"Yes, she did, so she is the famous mage the strongest mage in the Kingdom"

"What is she doing in a place like this."

"How would I know, more importantly, is she scouting that shrimp, what does she see in him."

Turning a deaf ear to the whispers, Lana lowered her voice saying, "What if you didn't have to pay for anything"?

"That would be nice, but I would say again I'm not a noble, and if a commoner like me, enrolled in the Academy it would ruin its reputation."

At this moment, Lana Landford can be seen a bit annoyed by Martin's last remark, growling she replied, "Let me give you this straight, whether you enroll in the Academy or not, this depends on your own skill and power, as for status has nothing to do with it. I'll be blunt and I will offer you something you can't refuse. There is a great power hidden deep inside you, when I passed by you, I felt it, and my intuition was never wrong. As for the payment, there will be an entrance exam soon, take one of the three top spots on the ranking board, and you won't have to pay a single bronze coin, everything will be taken care of by the Academy."

"That is indeed a tempting offer, but may I ask who are you to speak in the place of the Academy itself?"

Chuckling Lana replied, "I'm the chairwoman of the Academy, and whatever I say goes. So, you don't have to worry about that just make sure you do your part of the deal."

"I see, when is the entrance exam?", Martin asked not showing any emotion, he showed no excitement nor nervousness upon hearing her offer and status, which made her more intrigued by him.

"It will be in two months from now."

"I'll think about it, thanks for the offer", saying those words Martin left the Adventurers Guild.

After walking a few blocks, and making sure no one was following him, Martin sat at the side of the road releasing a sigh, " Who the hell was that woman, she is dangerous, to think that she would be able to feel my sealed power. But what if she was saying the truth? Maybe she can help me in getting rid of this weekend state?"

Extending his hand to the air, a black portal appeared, taking the apple bag that he bought earlier, he took a bite from one of the apples placing the rest back in the portal, "all this thinking made me hungry."

Suddenly a chill crawled down his spine, and got the feeling that someone is watching him, hurriedly he got up and made his way to the city gates.

Goddess of justice church:

The Creek sound of the wooden door was heard, and soon the appearance of a blonde beauty entered the spacious hall, this beauty was none other than priestess Lucie. Locking the door and making sure that no one is around, she walked toward its center.

Reaching the center of the hall, priestess Lucie kneeled in front of the goddess of justice statue that stood in the very middle of the hall.

"Oh, my goddess, your loyal believer wishes to speak to you."

A warm atmosphere filled the hall, then the statue's eyes started to emit a golden glow.

"My loyal believer, how is the favor I asked of you going?"

"I've been keeping an eye on him, he can chant spells without an enchantment, as well as use spatial magic. He truly is a prodigy, you really have a good eye, my goddess."

"I see. What about his movement have you noticed anything out of the ordinary?"

Talking to herself, priestess Lucie said, "Out of the ordinary you say, his powers alone are out of the ordinary."

Snapping out of her daze, priestess Lucie replied, "After leaving the church he stayed at an inn then the next day he went to the slums."

"The slums! what business he has to go to such a place?"

Suddenly priestess Lucie's face became pale fear covering it, " what I understood was he had a score to settle with a group of thugs. I saw everything, at that moment he cannot be called a human, he was a ruthless and cruel monster with no emotion showing on his face as he slaughtered them. I've even seen it myself, his gaze when I look into his eyes, although his eyes are white all you can see is emptiness, it felt suffocating."

Taking in a deep breath, she continued, "He then visited the adventurer's Guild, met the hero's party but not on a good note, then got acquainted and scouted by the Imperial Magic Academy's chairwoman."

"Good job, you did well, keep an eye on him for me.", after those words, the golden glow in the statue's eyes dimmed until it vanished, returning to its original appearance.
