Chapter 23 - Chasing Down

The king's guards stormed into the House of Wastle, their weapons drawn and their expressions filled with anticipation. However, to their surprise, they found the once vibrant residence empty and devoid of its inhabitants. The rooms echoed with silence, and the air felt heavy with the absence of life.

Confusion washed over the guards as they searched every nook and cranny, desperately seeking any sign of the people they were ordered to capture or eliminate. Rooms were overturned, belongings were scattered, but there was no trace of Shu or any remaining members of the House of Wastle.

The king, seething with anger and frustration, clenched his fist and shattered a nearby glass in his fury. The shards scattered across the floor as a symbol of his shattered expectations. He knew that his targets had slipped through his fingers once again, and his desire for revenge burned even stronger.

Turning to his loyal shadow guard, he issued a command with a tone laced with determination. "Bring me the hunters," he ordered, his voice filled with an intensity that brooked no disobedience. The shadow guard, well-versed in carrying out their master's wishes, responded promptly, acknowledging the king's command with a resolute "Roger."

2 days before...

Alvis River at night...

Shu and Ana in small boat while Latina beside it...

Latina, filled with concern for Shu's well-being, approached him with a somber expression. She gently spoke to him about her plan to seek treatment for his condition in the Central Continent. "Shu, I have arranged for you to receive treatment in the Central Continent. Ana here will accompany you and ensure your safe journey," she explained, her voice tinged with sadness.

Shu looked at Latina, his eyes reflecting a mixture of gratitude and determination. He understood the gravity of his situation and the need for specialized treatment. With a nod, he expressed his trust in Latina's decision. "Thank you, Mother. I will do whatever it takes to regain my strength and overcome this," he replied, his voice filled with determination.

Ana, the shadow guard assigned by Latina, stepped forward and assured Shu of her dedication to his well-being. "I will protect you and ensure a smooth journey to the Central Continent, young master. We will find the best experts who can help you regain your strength," she pledged, her tone resolute.

With heartfelt farewells to his family and friends, Shu embarked on his journey to the Central Continent, accompanied by Ana. The path ahead was uncertain, but he held onto the hope that the treatment would provide him with a chance to reclaim his former abilities.

As they set sail for the Central Continent , Shu's mind was filled with a mix of emotions. He was determined to make the most of this opportunity and return stronger than ever before. The journey would not be easy, but with Latina's support and Ana's unwavering dedication, he knew he was not alone.

Little did they know that this journey would not only test Shu's physical strength but also uncover hidden secrets and lead them down a path of unforeseen challenges. As they sailed towards the Central Continent, the fate of Shu and his quest for recovery hung in the balance, waiting to be written in the annals of Gaias Land's history.

"Goodbye, Shu," Latina whispered softly as she watched him depart. Her voice carried a mix of sadness, worry, and a deep motherly love. She stood there, her gaze lingering on the ship until it disappeared from sight, knowing that Shu's journey towards recovery had just begun.

Latina's heart ached with the weight of her decisions and the challenges her family had faced. She hoped and prayed that Shu would find the healing he needed and emerge stronger than ever before. Deep down, she held onto the belief that he would overcome the obstacles that lay ahead and fulfill his potential.

Back to present...

"My king! We have found out that Shu has left the kingdom," one of the guards reported, entering the presence of the furious king. The king's eyes flashed with anger and his voice boomed with authority as he commanded, "Chase him down! I want him brought back to face the consequences of his actions!"

The guards nodded in acknowledgment and quickly dispersed, their orders clear. They set out to locate Shu, their determination fueled by the king's wrath. The chase was on, as the king's forces mobilized to capture the young man who had dared to defy their ruler.
