Chapter 25 - Berserk

As Shu's hand made contact with the mysterious mask, a surge of energy coursed through his body. The cavern, once shrouded in darkness, suddenly erupted in a dazzling display of purple flames. The flames danced and flickered, casting an ethereal glow that illuminated the chamber.

From the depths of the shadows, a voice resonated through the air, both soothing and enigmatic. "Do you need power?" it asked, its tone filled with an ancient wisdom that seemed to transcend time itself.

Shu hesitated for a moment, his mind flooded with conflicting thoughts and emotions. The desire for power burned within him, fueled by his thirst for revenge and the need to protect those he loved. Yet, he also understood the dangers that power could bring, the potential for corruption and loss of oneself.

After a moment of contemplation, Shu mustered his resolve and spoke with determination, his voice echoing in the chamber. "Yes," he replied firmly. "Give me the power to seek justice and protect those dear to me. But let it be tempered with wisdom and compassion."

As soon as his words echoed in the cavern, the purple flames intensified, swirling around Shu in a mesmerizing display. The mask, now infused with a vibrant energy, seemed to mold itself to his features, fitting perfectly as if it had always belonged there.

Shu felt a surge of power surging through his veins, his body tingling with a newfound strength. But unlike the power-hungry villains of the world, he would use this power for noble purposes, to restore balance and bring justice to a world plagued by darkness.

Unfortunately....

As the purple flames engulfed Shu's body, a searing pain coursed through every fiber of his being. The intense heat consumed him, burning away not only his physical form but also his meridians, the channels through which his vital energy flowed.

In the midst of his torment, Shu's sanity began to waver. The agony warped his mind, filling it with a primal rage and an insatiable hunger for power. As the flames subsided, a transformation took place. Shu's body contorted, his muscles bulging and elongating. His once-human form now resembled that of a fearsome weretiger, its fur blazing with the same purple flames that had consumed him.

In this altered state, Shu's consciousness became clouded, overridden by his newfound beastly instincts. His thoughts became fragmented, consumed by a single desire: to unleash his unleashed fury upon anything and anyone that dared to oppose him.

With each step he took, the ground quaked beneath his powerful paws. His claws, sharp as daggers, tore through any obstacle in his path. The purple flames that enveloped his body emitted an intense heat, scorching the surroundings and leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.

Shu, now a creature of raw power and unbridled fury, roamed the land with a wild determination. His actions were driven by a mixture of primal instinct and the remnants of his original purpose: to seek justice and protect those he held dear. However, his methods became increasingly ruthless and indiscriminate, as the line between right and wrong blurred in the haze of his transformation.

It was a tragic twist of fate, for the power that had been bestowed upon Shu was meant to be a force for good. But consumed by the flames and trapped within the ferocity of his altered form, he had become a creature to be feared.

As Shu emerged from the cavern, his transformed form struck fear into the hearts of the three assassins who had been pursuing him. The sheer ferocity and power emanating from him caused them to tremble in terror. They knew they were no match for the unleashed beast before them.

With eyes glowing with an otherworldly intensity, Shu locked his gaze upon the fleeing assassins. His feral instincts took over, and he lunged forward with lightning speed, his sharp claws ready to rend flesh and bone. The assassins ran for their lives, desperately trying to escape the wrath of this creature they had unwittingly awakened.

But Shu was relentless. His agility and speed were unmatched, as he closed the distance between him and his prey in a matter of moments. With each swipe of his razor-sharp claws, he struck with deadly precision, rending through flesh and tearing apart their defenses. One by one, the assassins fell, their lives extinguished by the untamed fury of the weretiger.

The air was filled with the sound of growls, snarls, and the screams of the assassins as they met their demise. Shu's movements were a blur, his attacks fueled by an instinctual bloodlust. The once-promising young warrior had become an unstoppable force, driven by an insatiable hunger for revenge and power.

To be continue...
