Chapter 35 - Unforeseen Terms

With conviction in his movements and nerves on edge, Kai headed towards the commentator amidst an anxious audience.

All eyes were on him as he advanced towards his destination - all wanting to know what answers he was seeking. As their eyes met, a momentary silence crept over them.

"Excuse me," Kai spoke up, his voice ringing out through the tense silence.

The audience turned their attention towards him, their eyes widening as his words sank in. They exchanged startled glances, their expressions a mixture of surprise and curiosity.

"I have a request," Kai continued, his voice steady. "Is it possible for me to continue fighting until I feel exhausted? I still have a considerable amount of stamina left."

As Kai's surprising question hung in the air, a wave of shock washed over both Dragon Academy students and onlookers alike.

Murmurs and whispers spread through the crowd, creating a buzz of disbelief.

The commentator, taken aback by such a request, raised an eyebrow and momentarily paused, processing Kai's words before responding.

Thinking hard before speaking slowly so as not to anger nor disappoint anyone or create unnecessary complications for themselves.

He eventually answered very carefully, "This is something very out of the ordinary indeed! I will have a meeting with our management to see if we can accommodate your request. "

Silence fell upon the stage as Kais' inquiry resonated with everyone present. Puzzled looks and skeptical glances were exchanged as they tried to decipher the implications of what might happen next.

Whispers rippled through the arena as the students turned to their respected teachers, Master Liang and Ms. Mei, seeking answers.

"Master Liang, can Kai really do this? Shouldn't we intervene?" Aoi asked, her voice laced with concern.

Master Liang maintained his calm demeanor, observing the unfolding events with a watchful eye.

He replied, "Let us trust Kai's judgment for now. If he believes he can handle it, we should give him the opportunity to prove himself. However, we'll closely monitor the situation and intervene if necessary."

The students, their worry and curiosity palpable, glanced at each other, exchanging concerned glances.

Alex couldn't help but notice Master Liang's composed reaction, raising an eyebrow in suspicion.

"Master Liang, forgive me for asking, but why aren't you surprised by Kai's sudden request? Did you know about this beforehand?" Alex inquired, his voice tinged with doubt.

The students, now captivated by Alex's accusation, eagerly awaited Master Liang's response. Sarah added, her voice filled with doubt, "How could he have known? It feels too sudden and secretive."

Master Liang sighed, his gaze shifting between the concerned faces before him.

He decided it was time to shed some light on the matter. "Kai approached me last night with a similar request. He wanted to fight all the matches until he is exhausted if the opponents were from Serpent Dojo School."

The students gasped, their eyes widening in surprise.

Jackson interjected, "But why would Kai make such a dangerous request? Doesn't he know the risks involved?"

Master Liang's expression softened, his voice tinged with both understanding and concern.

"Kai is worried about all of you, his friends. He believes that if he fights the matches, it will prevent you from facing the students of Serpent Dojo School, sparing you from potential harm. He also mentioned having a solution to counter their poison."

As the weight of Kai's intentions settled among the students, their expressions transformed from skepticism to a mixture of comprehension and unease.

Kai, standing on the stage, heard fragments of his friends' arguments, but he consciously chose not to look their way, knowing he would face their wrath later.

In his mind, he acknowledged that there was another reason for wanting to face the opponents from Serpent Dojo School. It was an opportunity to test his skills, especially his Poison Resistance ability, and increase its level with the help of their poison attacks.

As the commentator's voice resonated through the arena, announcing the revised conditions, the audience, and the students refocused their attention on the stage. The conditions were set, courtesy of Kai's request.

Among the students of Serpent Dojo School, their teacher, Sensei Takeshi, seethed with annoyance at their earlier defeat to Dragon Academy.

He viewed Kai's audacious terms as a direct affront to his school's honor, fueling his determination to prove them wrong.

With a disingenuous smile, Sensei Takeshi responded to the commentator, "Of course, we will accept these terms. Our students have no objections."

The crowd buzzed with anticipation, aware that a fierce battle was about to commence.

Sensei Takeshi gathered his student, Ren, and his voice dripped with a veiled threat as he cautioned him, "Finish him swiftly, Ren. Under no circumstances should you lose. Show him the true strength of Serpent Dojo School."

Ren's voice resonated with an undertone of malice as he addressed Sensei Takeshi. "Sensei, I assure you, Kai won't survive this. I'll make sure he regrets challenging Serpent Dojo School."

Sensei Takeshi's eyes gleamed with vengeful delight.

"Remember, Ren, it's not only about defeating him. It's about showing the entire arena the true strength and power of Serpent Dojo School. Make them fear us."

The tension in the air is palpable as Ren stepped onto the stage.

The bright lights illuminated the vast arena, casting long shadows across his determined face. The anticipation in the crowd is almost tangible, a collective breath held in anticipation of the impending clash.
