-------

My day literally can't get any worse.

I sighed as I closed my locker and picked up my bag.

I got Harris on my next slot and something warns me I'm not going to enjoy it.

Speaking of warnings, after last night's conversation with Derek (if it can even be called as one), Scott's having a talk with the Coach about his place in the team and I'm quite sure Coach would make him play, one way or another. He is persuasive like that.

Just as I was about to climb up the stairs, I saw Amber walking towards me.

"Hey." She smiled.

"Hey." I nodded back.

"Busy?" She asked as her eyes pointed towards my bag in general.

"I'm never busy for you." I smirked as she chuckled with a slight blush. "I like the sound of that."

"I have to run for French class, but I wanted you to know that Tara and I are coming to see you play tomorrow."

"You are?" I asked, a bit surprised. Tara was never one to waste her time over 'unnecessary physical activities' as she likes to call Lacrosse and Amber is just not really into sports as a whole.

"Of course." Amber squealed cheerfully. "It's your first game, I wouldn't miss it for the world and Tara would literally kill anyone to make sure you play."

"That sounds like her." I mumbled.

"And we are all going out afterwards, Tara, me, you and I heard the new girl's quite close with you, Anna?"

"Allison." I corrected her.

"Tell her to come too." She added before slowly pacing around me and moved on her way.

"Sure." I yelled as she vanished into the crowd.

As I turned around I saw Scott walk into the hall like a sad puppy with droopy ears.

"What happened?" I asked as I climbed up with him.

"Coach says I'm on the bench for the rest of the season if I don't play tomorrow." Said the guy was persuasive. "And Mom just texted me, she got out of her shift to come see the game."

"Come on, we will find a way." I patted his back, cheering him a bit as we made it to our class just in time.

[Scott's POV]

I couldn't help but sigh as I stared at the problem; there's way too much on my mind right now to be solving algebra.

"Why is there a rumor going around that you're not playing tomorrow?" I glanced towards my side and noticed Lydia solving the problem next to me.

"Because I'm sort of not." Even though what I want most is to play, Stiles is right, the risk is too high.

"I think you sort of are," Lydia said in an orderly manner. "Especially when you brutally injured my boyfriend by ramming into him."

There are a whole lot of things I'm worried about right now; the whining of Jackson's pathetic girlfriend is like in the depths of the Mariana Trench on the scale right now.

"He brutally injured himself ramming into me." I huffed and shook my head as I controlled my annoyance.

"Jackson's gonna play tomorrow," she said matter-of-factly. "But he's not gonna be at his peak, and I prefer my boyfriend at peak performance."

"...Okay." That is just way too much information.

"I date the captain of the winning Lacrosse team, and if they start off the season losing, I date the captain of the losing Lacrosse team. I don't date losers."

Huh. Never knew there was this much politics in Lydia's dating plans.

"You're already dating a loser though." I smirked while she directed a glare my way. "Besides, losing one game isn't gonna kill anyone; in fact, it might even save someone."

"Fine! Don't play." Lydia loudly whispered. "We'll probably win anyway; then we'll go out. I heard Allison is still game, so I would be a very good friend and introduce her to all the hot players on the team."

I cracked the chalk as Allison's name was mentioned, infuriating my ego as I felt it build up.

"And Scott McCall can stay home, surfing the net for porn."

She threw the chalk back in a winning gesture, and my eyes glanced at her swaying hips as she walked back to her place.

"Correct as always, Ms. Martin," the teacher stated as he checked Lydia's answer before his eyes turned my way. "And Mr. McCall, you're not even close to solving your problem."

I sighed, getting back to the 'problem' at hand.

"Tell me about it."

[Stiles' POV]

"The calculations necessary for thermodynamics have all been listed-."

I stared at the clock like my life depended on it, without blinking, without breathing, not making a single move.

Just a few more minutes, and I'd be out of Harris' hell.

The door was knocked and opened, but I wasn't going to take my eyes off it.

"Excuse me." But the voice immediately made my eyes dart towards it. I reflexively raised my hand and waved with a smile; what's my dad doing here?

"Yes?" Harris answered.

"I was informed Ms. Angela Weber and Eric Yorkie would be in this class." He said, completely ignoring my wave. Not that I minded it as I was completely immersed in something else.

Angela and Eric stood up as their names were called, Harris gave them a look before turning back to The Sheriff.

"Is this of importance?" He asked like a complete idiot. Man, the cops are here, of course, it's important.

"No, I just have a few questions for them." And, of course, he lied. Nobody wants to panic possible witnesses; coming to their classes would have already made them stiffen up a bit.

"Sure, Ms. Weber and Mr. Yorkie, you may leave." Harris gave permission. Both of them packed their bags and left the class, following behind my dad.

He stopped in the hall and began questioning both of them, while I calmly took a breath and perked my ears, focusing on my dad's voice to hear what they were saying.

"-So you haven't seen her since school yesterday?" He asked.

"Yeah, I texted Jessica in the evening, and we decided to hang out in her house, but then something came up, and she canceled it." Angela explained.

"What about you?" He turned towards Eric.

"No, I have no idea." Eric replied before slowly asking. "Is there a problem, sir?"

My dad stayed silent for a moment before answering. "No, Jessica's not answering her phone since morning. Do you guys know if she has a boyfriend or something?"

"No."

They both shook their heads.

"Ok." He sighed, the tiredness of the day evident in his face. "Give a call to the sheriff's office if you remember something."

"Sure." They nodded.

"Fine, get back to your classes." He gestured before leaving the hall.

The bell rang at the right moment; I immediately slipped my books back into my bag and ran out of the class, not bothering about Harris' frown.

Once I reached him, I saw him talking to the principal with another officer present.

I hid behind a wall and peeked my head out, eavesdropping into their conversation.

"We want everyone under the age of 18 to be in their home by 9:30 pm."

"What's happening?" Scott asked as he came from behind. I shushed him, focusing once again on the conversation.

"We'd like to institute the curfew effective immediately." I signed, rolling away from the wall.

"Curfew because of the body." I reported to Scott.

"Unbelievable, my dad's out here looking for a rabid animal, while the jerk-off who actually killed the girl is just hanging out, doing whatever he wants." I stressed harder.

"Well, you can't exactly tell your dad the truth about Derek." Scott summarized pretty cleanly.

"I can do something." I smirked.

"Like what?" Scott asked warily as he noticed the grin on my face.

"Find the other half of the body."

And I'm gonna start doing it just about now.

"Are you kidding?!" Scott cried as I walked out of the hall.

[Scott Pov]

As I saw Stiles leaving the hall, I heard Allison in the crowd, Lydia next to her, introducing her to Isaac.

"-Hi, nice to meet you." Allison shook his hand.

"She's the new girl." Lydia gave me a smirk as she glanced my way before keeping up with her charade.

I gritted my teeth as I made my way towards her. Seeing me come towards them, Lydia slowly walked away, dragging Isaac with her.

"Hey." I called Allison awkwardly.

"Hey." She replied politely.

"So Lydia's introducing you to everyone?"

"She's being so unbelievably nice to me." She shrugged.

"I wonder why." I said with sarcasm dripping with every word.

"Maybe she gets how much being the new girl can suck."

I nodded, and my eyes widened as I inadvertently took note of the jacket she was holding in her hands. It was the same jacket that Derek used to draw me out when I shifted on the full moon.

"Where did you get that?" I asked.

"My jacket?" I nodded. "It was in my locker; I think Lydia brought it back from the party."

"Did she say she brought it back or did she say someone gave it to her?"

"Like who?" She asked, confused.

"Like Derek?"

"The creepy guy from the party?"

"Yeah." I nodded. "Did he ever talk after that? Did you see him again?"

"Mm, no." She shook her head with a frown.

"Are you sure?"

"I… gotta get to class." She mumbled stepping back.

"Allison-." I called.

"No, I really have to go." She excused herself and vanished into the crowd.

'Fuck.' I gritted my teeth as I turned around.

I'm gonna kill that guy.
