Chapter 18 - 14. Guslaini

The school that was once filled with Detrals has now turned into a graveyard for the Detrals. Not a single Detral remains in the school anymore. They have all been exterminated by the three youths assisted by Camel, who happened to be with them. Additionally, the woman who was with them also helped with the burial process, burying them all in one pit.

Amidst the burial process, the woman finally mentioned her name. She was Eliana Rumudu, or commonly called Eli. She was supposed to be a teacher at this school. However, unfortunately, when she sensed the Duke's malicious intent, she was already too late. Everything happened so quickly and unexpectedly.

Eli initially tried to end her life, but she was stopped. She couldn't die just yet while the Duke was still doing as he pleased. She tried to rise up for revenge. Her life now only existed for that purpose.

Camel invited her to join the rebels. Luckily, Eli agreed quickly and would join the rebel side.

Camel saw Eli as a valuable weapon. Her Soul's Weapon was different from the others, as her weapon only appeared after they captured one soldier who worked under that mysterious woman. Her weapon replicated the terrifying shotguns carried by the soldiers, capable of splattering stomach contents in one shot.

Near the torches in the burial area, Elia sat on the ground, staring sadly at the stones in front of her.

"Is it over? Can I leave now?" She wondered as if this were all still her beautiful dream.

Lidya, sitting beside Eli, could only nod while looking at a large unnamed tombstone stuck in the ground as a marker. "Yes, it's over. I can hit you if you still don't believe."

"No need, I fully understand now." Eli smiled weakly at Lidya. "Thank you for trying to comfort me."

"Uh (glancing sideways with a grin)..." Her grin indicated that what she said was actually trying to do it, but she tried to cover it up to maintain a saintly impression in front of Eli. "... Ahahaha (laughing foolishly)! I am an understanding person, you know!"

They couldn't provide proper burial for each one individually; they didn't even know who they were, except for where they came from.

====

On the other side, Camel and Micah stood in a room, staring at the unfortunate soul they had just captured. The person was still unconscious and tied to a chair.

They were about to do something inhumane to get information from the soldier by any means necessary.

*Blur!

"Wake up! How long do you plan to sleep?!" Micah splashed water on the soldier's face with water prepared by Lidya's magic.

"Agh?! Where am I? Oh, yes! Th-this!" He was startled. His eyes slowly turned upwards, right into Micah's frightening face with his dark sunglasses and a thin beard.

He seemed to be seeing a demon from ancient tales.

"You murderous bastard! How dare you kill my brother!"

Hearing the soldier's shout, Micah was slightly surprised but quickly disregarded it.

"Oh, so that's your brother? So what?"

"S-so?! What do you mean?!" He became angrier. His body slowly glowed, ready to release his skills.

*Buk!

As his skill was about to come out, Micah hit the back of the chair the soldier was sitting on with the back of his axe. The blow was very light, but the sound it produced made the soldier fall silent.

"You killed many people and turned them into the undead you call Detrals, and you call us murderers?!" Micah grins in disgust at the soldier. "If I killed your brother, am I a murderer? Then what do you call someone who kills many people and turns them into Detrals?!" Micah's gaze pierced straight into the soldier's heart. Looking into the man's eyes now was like looking into a deep abyss.

"I-I only followed Lady Guslaini! That's all! She's the leader of our battalion!" The soldier finally mentioned something they were looking for.

"Guslaini? Who is she?" Camel now asked. His gaze was still stern towards the man.

"I won't tell murderers like you..." He still resisted.

"You know? Every time you act, you must be prepared for the consequences. What happened to your brother, it is the consequence of what you both have been doing all this time..." Micah tried to explain calmly.

The soldier fell silent for a moment. Micah's words had some truth to them, but... "No, I won't!" His anger for his slain brother couldn't be contained.

He tried to free himself from the restraints with all his might, but just before that happened...

*Sling!

Micah's axe struck the soldier.

He quickly released the soldier's restraints, neat and tidy. There was no sign of injury on the soldier's wrists.

"You?!" the soldier shouts at Micah.

Micah, hearing that, just smiled. He saw the death of the soldier's brother as nothing more than an accident.

The soldier's spear was summoned into his hand, he swung upwards and tried to kill Micah in one swipe. "Hyaghhh!"

But, *krak! The spear got stuck in the ceiling and stayed there.

Micah's grin widened; he saw the soldier as nothing more than a weak man in a panic.

"Why did this happen?!" The soldier tried to pull his spear to release it from the ceiling.

"It's a narrow room, idiot! You should have used a small weapon like this axe (while showing his axe) or this knife (throwing a knife towards him)."

*Catch!

The soldier grabbed the knife Micah threw at him.

Without hesitation, the soldier rushed forward and tried to stab Micah right in the heart.

But, *dor!

Micah shot the soldier's hand for the second time.

"Arghhh!" the soldier screamed in pain, clutching his mangled fingers.

*Buk!

Micah kicked the soldier's knee, making him kneel.

Micah lifted the soldier's head and made him look directly at Micah's face up close. "Now tell me! Who is Guslaini!"

"After what you've done?! Cuh!" The soldier spat in Micah's face.

Micah grinned once more. He aimed his pistol at the soldier's head.

"Just kill me! There's no point in me living!" The soldier despaired.

His brother's death seemed to have drained all his will to live.

"No, not until I know who Guslaini is! I won't let you die!"

*Dor! *Dor! *Dor!

Micah shot the soldier's arm, thigh, and his other fingers. He planned to prolong the soldier's death and make it painful.

"Quick, tell me!"

*Brak!

Micah stomped on the soldier's chest with tremendous force. The sound of breaking bones echoed.

"No... Uorghh(spitting blood)! Alright! Fine!"

Micah grinned more cruelly. "You see, you're under a spell now, where you cannot die and will keep regenerating until you spill it!"

"What?!"

At that moment, he realized his fingers, which were previously crushed, were now whole again without any injury.

"You?! You?!" The soldier was terrified, seeing Micah as an invincible monster.

"Speak! Come on, speak! Or do I have to stomp on you again?!" he subtly but demeaningly pressured.

"Fine! I'll tell you!" He raised his hand to signal 'stop' to Micah. "Guslaini... Guslaini is one of the Du- Arghhhh!"

But something surprising happened as he was about to reveal the truth. Bubbles suddenly emerged from his mouth, like those in the mouths of Detrals.

"Don't tell me!" Camel knew what gonna happen soon.

"So Guslaini uses this on her soldiers to keep the information safe, huh?" Micah sarcastically laughed at the unfortunate soldier.

"I'm sorry... But I have to erase you before you become a Detral," he said casually, aiming his pistol at the soldier's head.

*Dor!

The soldier was now with his beloved brother.

Camel, witnessing what Micah did, could only stand frozen in his place. He realized how dangerous and terrifying someone named Micah was. If Micah were on the enemy's side, Camel wouldn't know how to escape safely when facing him.

Deep down, he also considered Micah a problem for him. Micah could betray them and try to betray them in the name of the power he possessed.

Since then, Camel had to think of a plan in case Micah tried to turn against his master.

"What a pity we couldn't gather more information." (Micah)

"Ah-ah?! Yes, what a shame..." Camel seemed to snap out of his thoughts. "At least we got the name of the culprit, right? If I'm not mistaken. Her name is Guslaini. Now we just need to find out her full name and where she comes from."

"Hmm (nodding)... The Duke must know everything about that! Let's continue our journey after we get through tonight!" Micah put his hand on Camel's shoulder to calm his tense attitude.

Shortly after that, he went out of the room and headed to where Rudi was, on the first floor, in a room near the gate. They tried to rest in the nearest place to the exit.

=====

The next morning.

The five of them were ready to leave the school for the city of Sayejij. Before leaving, Elia asked to bid farewell to the school.

"Everyone, I will avenge you all! That's for sure! So (bowing her head as tears fell)! I bid you farewell!"

With that, Elia walked towards the four rebel soldiers who had been waiting for her from afar.

They encountered scorching heat again on the dry land. They kept walking until they reached a place where the desert felt cooler than the dry land.
