Chapter 21 - Side 4. Elia, Unta, Lidya, dan Rudi

Inside the tavern, Rudi and Lidya were asked something by Camel. They both knew what Camel was asking about, judging by the atmosphere and Micah's absence.

"Uh... What do you think about Micah?" Camel asked.

"Micah (devours food)... Well, he's just... Micah. We're used to his antics," Lidya replied.

"I'm not talking about that! I mean, could he possibly betray all of us and try to take over power?!"

When Camel asked that, Elia, who happened to be sitting at the same table with them, was surprised.

"I have a bad feeling about that guy (squinting). He seems like he wants to win alone. I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to betray us in the end."

Newcomers, not yet trusted. Both Rudi and Lidya normalized the other two's attitudes. They were ready to be reprimanded for anything related to Micah. However, their adventure would take them farther and farther, so they would encounter more and more people.

"Relax, Micah won't betray us."

If Rudi had said it, perhaps no one would have believed it because of their friendship, but this time it was Lidya who spoke. They both were surprised by how Lidya's and Micah's relationship seemed.

"Are you sure?!" Camel exclaimed, surprised.

"Yes, anyway. Micah is just a cow who follows lead of the one who has a rope. As long as we're on your side, he'll stay on your side. Understand?"

"Your words are quite harsh for a friend, but... We fully trust that statement (smiling)." Elia let go of her suspicions.

***

After their meal was finished, Camel looked around the tavern. There were many people eating, chatting, singing, and getting drunk there. He couldn't find any stares directed at them. There was no possibility of spies among those people.

Camel looked back at Rudi and Lidya. He still had a few questions about Micah.

"If I may ask, does Micah always act outside the plan?"

"Often!" Lidya shouted and pounded the table.

Luckily, no one around cared.

"So, how do you deal with it to get him back on track?"

"It's quite difficult to say..." Lidya held her chin. Her head tilted up and she saw the candlelight hanging from the ceiling. "If I were to say, the main thing is... You need to tell him who will suffer if he acts recklessly."

"Who will suffer?"

"Let me put it this way..." Rudi took over the question, then leaned in towards Camel to whisper. "You're going to rescue a prisoner, right? If Micah goes berserk. It's best you say, 'Don't be reckless, Mrs. Juno will get killed because of your antics!' I'm sure that'll make him stop." Rudi whispered softly.

"I-I understand..." Camel said, moving his face away from Rudi.

"Micah is really a strange person. Does he have a mental disorder or something?"

There was no rain, no thunder, but Elia suddenly said something that could ignite Rudi's anger. Rudi, who was almost standing up, was forcibly held back by Lidya, who already knew Rudi's anger at those words.

"Eh?!" Elia realized and saw Rudi's glaring eyes directed at her. "Why are you so angry?"

"From how you responded to that insult. It seems like you know what's going on?" Camel looked sharply at Rudi.

"Yeah, we know..." Lidya answered.

"Why is he like that? Is it a family issue?" (Camel)

On the other side, Elia, feeling uncomfortable, shifted her gaze and looked out the door, watching the passersby.

"More or less... I'll just tell you, he's like this because of his own will. When he fell into this world, he suddenly became like this. Full of brutality."

"Wait!" Elia was shocked and exclaimed, but immediately realized the consequences. She sighed and whispered to them. "What do you mean not from this world?"

"They're not from this world, that's why Sense Satusus from the tavern keeper, doesn't work well on them," Camel explained.

"So (tilting her head)..."

"If we were originally from this world, then we would already be fugitives, you know?" (Rudi)

"Fugitives?"

"Did you hear about the news of the grand marshal's death spreading since earlier in this tavern?" Camel whispered with pride. "They're the ones who did it."

Elia couldn't believe it. She immediately activated her Sense Satusus, but whatever it was, both of them still registered as level 1, status: commoners, and had no criminal records.

Both Elia and Camel already had criminal records, where they were listed as trying to enter illegally. Fortunately, such a thing was too minor to be taken seriously by the people in this city.

"It's impossible, you two really aren't affected..."

"Forget about that, let's get back to Micah. I have to warn you about one thing. There's one thing we can't control about him."

Upon hearing Rudi's explanation, both Camel and Elia widened their eyes and began to tremble. If there was something more terrifying than Micah acting on his own, it was Micah who was out of control.

"T-there's something like that?" Camel said, trembling.

"Yes, it's something important to him."

"He's greedy about money. He'll do anything to get it."

Rudi tried to beat around the bush, but Lidya immediately cut him off and went straight to the point.

"M-money? Does that mean... He would betray for money?"

"I already told you... He won't betray us. What Rudi means is, he'll destroy anything in his way when it comes to money."

"So (tilting her head)..."

"For example, if there's a money vault in this city, then Micah will try to steal it. No matter what stands in his way." Rudi explained clearly.

"Wait, you said a money vault, right?" Camel said, his face sweating.

"Is there such a thing here?" Rudi also knew where this conversation was heading.

"Damn, we have to stop Micah now!"

Lidya hurriedly left the tavern, leaving Camel in charge. Regardless of what happened to anyone other than Rudi and Micah, Lidya left all those strangers without a care.

Elia, not knowing how to act, followed Lidya's lead and ran after her. She glanced down at Rudi and Camel before leaving the tavern.

Now it was just the two of them in the tavern. Rudi turned to Camel, scratching his head. "You have to pay first! I'll wait."

"O-okay!"

After Camel paid for their meal, Rudi asked him where it was. "Where is it?"

"It's near the castle!"

"In that case, let's search around there!"

"Why like that?!"

"He clearly intends to do it at the same time as the kidnapping of Mrs. Juno!"

With that, they went in search of Micah, whatever he was planning. Rudi and Lidya could only hope that the boy wouldn't attempt anything crazy.
