Chapter 19 - CHAPTER NINETEEN

Christopher sat at the dining table, his mind consumed with the conflicting thoughts and emotions. The marriage contracts had been signed by Gabriella, but he couldn't ignore the fact that she wasn't happy. Despite knowing this, Christopher chose to dismiss her feelings, driven by desire for him to be married. Now that he was married, all that remained was finding the right time to break the news to his family.

As he took a bite of his dinner, his thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sounds of approaching footsteps. His heart sank as he saw his parent, Aurora, Eric and Jack entering the room, Their concerns was evident on their faces, unaware of the emotional turmoil Christopher was going through.

Christopher's face remained emotionless, a clear reflection of his reluctance to have them in his home. He had intentionally kept his phone switched off to avoid their numerous calls, but now they stood before him, uninvited.

His father, a stern expression on his face, was the first to speak. "Christopher, we've been trying to reach you all day. Are you alright? We heard about the assassination attempt this morning."

Christopher's grip tightened on his fork as he struggled to maintain his composure. He knew his family was genuinely worried about him, but their constant interference only added to his frustration.

"I'm fine," he replied curtly, his voice lacking warmth. "It was just a minor incident. No cause for concern."

His mother approached him cautiously, her eyes filled with motherly worry. "Christopher, you need to take these threats seriously. We're here because we care about you."

A wave of anger washed over Christopher, his emotions threatening to spill out. He resented their intrusion, their attempts to control his life, and their disregard for his own desires and happiness.

"I appreciate your concern," he replied through gritted teeth. "But I can handle my own affairs. I don't need constant supervision."

His sister, Aurora, stepped forward, her voice tinged with concern. "Chris, we're just looking out for you. You can't shut us out like this."

Christopher's gaze hardened as he met her eyes. "I'm not shutting anyone out. I just need some space to figure things out on my own."

Jack, always the peacemaker, tried to diffuse the tension. "Guys, let's take a step back and give Christopher some room. He's going through a lot right now."

His words fell on deaf ears as Christopher's frustration reached its peak. He rose abruptly from his seat, his voice laced with anger.

"I need you all to leave," he declared, his tone firm and unwavering. "I'll handle my own life, my own decisions. I don't need your interference."

Silence hung heavy in the room as his family stared at him, taken aback by his outburst. Christopher's words echoed in the air, a clear indication of his determination to establish his independence.

Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked away, leaving his family behind. In that moment, he knew that he had to prioritize his own happiness and assert his control over his own life, even if it meant standing against his loved ones
