At the start of Astral's seventh grade year, he would be introduced around the school by one of the nicer kids in his class. Becoming good friends with them was a good result. His prize never changed though. Astral joined all three sports again, Football to start. Jaimie would also be playing football.
Astral trying to fit in would act like he didn't know what he was doing. Letting her teach him while having a good conversation. He had the basics down and became the star of their team. It was as simple as hand the ball to him and he would get a touchdown. Jaimie would be jealous at first, she used to be the star athlete of their grade, but now she is playing second fiddle to some new kid she has taught.
She was irritated. After the football season was over, the head coach for the varsity team asked to bump up those two to be used on the varsity level. They both accepted in a heartbeat. Jaimie may be considerably taller than him, but he is physically stronger.
When winter came both of them started varsity as seventh graders. Astral made everyone else around him better, being the best point guard the school has ever seen, averaging a double double in assists and points. As for Jaimie, she was averaging thirty points as their main ball handler and scoring option. Jaimie was able to lead her team deep into the playoffs, but they fell short after a bad game from Jaimie in the section finals match.
Astral on the other hand was able to lead his team to state. And they made it to the semifinals. Not bad for his first year. Then came track, which they both joined. Astral asked the coach to let him do as many events as possible for varsity. The coach said to prove it in their first meet. He won first and second in every event. Jaimie was capped to her four events.
Winning each one of her races, and placing first in her field event. At the end of the season, both Jaimie and Astral made it to state, Jaimie for the four hundred and long jump, and Astral for the four hundred, pole vault, triple jump and his four by four team.
They hung out alot over the summer, Jaimie would make Astral wake up early to keep him active and he would enjoy the time with her, he had someone to push him. Even with his limiter's on it was hard to keep up with her. Alexa was not appreciating the limiters, it made her constantly work whenever he was playing sports.
Eight grade came, and they were playing varsity in football. Astral was the quarterback, being able to use his maneuverability to make people miss, roll out of the pocket and throw darts downfield. Jaimie was the number two wide out, standing at five foot ten inches as a eighth grader was impressive. With Astral's movements, he rushed for two hundred yards a game and passed for three hundred. As well as being their shutdown corner.
Jaimie played free safety, wherever Astral wasn't on the field. Jaimie was. It helped them advance deep into state. In the state championship game Astral ran for four hundred yards and only passed the ball ten times. Two times to each receiver. They won the game but he needs to not be a ball hog.
Standing at five foot five inches currently. He still could only be the point for his basketball team. But he did alot more passing and off ball things. Trying to learn to do better. Jaimie did Jaimie things however. Averaging thirty five pints a game compared to Astrals twelve points and fifteen assists. Both teams made it to the state championships this year, but both teams lost.
Astral's teammate missed the game winning shot and Jaimies team got shut down outside of her. Both frustrated. They took their anger to the tarmac. Breaking every school record for boys and girls. Both of them advanced to state again. Astral and Jaimie both had three events. Astral had his four hundred, pole vault and triple jump while Jaimie made it in the four hundred long jump and high jump. Both of them won first place in all three events.
This summer would be different, they would be inviting friends in their grade to work out with them. It cheered them all on. And by the start of football season. Jaimie stood at six feet tall, and Astral was five foot seven. Astral would focus on passing the ball as much as possible, only running when he needed to. He threw for six hundred yards a game. But whenever he rushed he broke it loose for a touchdown. They made it to state facing the same team. Getting the same outcome but alot less close. Astral would air raid them and the other team couldn't keep up. They just won back to back titles in football. Now let's see their progress in basketball.
Jaimie averaged thirty five points a game with fifteen rebounds. Astral had a jump in points going from twelve to twenty five, and getting fifteen assists still with three rebounds. He couldn't put his team on his back yet. But the girls season finished first, they won the championship on the back of Jaimie, who scored fifty points in the final.
Astral's team was much closer, he had already scored thirty points and yet it was a tie game going into the third overtime. After a game saving shot by Astral it turned into sudden death. They got the ball and Astral blocked it. Scooping the block and scoring the go ahead bucket to win their first basketball championship. As for track, it was more of the same old stuff.
They won every meet and went to state and won by a mile.
Their sophomore year they would have every class together, allowing their bond to grow even more as their goals shifted from the athletic side of things to learning the proper things they wanted to. Astral took up art and history as his main goals while Jaimie was more of an english nut, spending lots of free time reading due to her home situation.
Whenever her and her friends hung out it would always be a blessing for her. She was glad to be away from home as much as possible. The workouts with everyone in their grade went well. With them taking a major leap in football and basketball, they were able to carry the teams back to the state championships as the older players graduated.
The sophomore year didn't have as much flair at the end of the year. They already have accomplished everything they have wanted to, the only thing to cap it off was both of them going to prom, which seemed pretty basic for the two of them. It felt too formal.
Their junior year however was a different story as the duo kept up the work of keeping their friends in shape and them in even better shape. Everyone at this point expected them to become a thing. With them constantly around each other and her living pretty much with Astral and Anders.
Astral would be happy by this, and Jaimie would be glad to have an escape from her home reality. She didn't want to be at home listening to nothing but arguments between her various family members all living under one roof.
Astral's family was much more peaceful in her mind. Comparatively, she was welcomed in with open arms, her appetite of food not a burden on them. Every one of her friends supported her as they went through the last season of football before they were the captains set to graduate. Their sport dominance was unparalleled. Leading many to look closely at them.
Prom this year was just the two of them going together. They skipped the after parties and enjoyed a quiet night for themselves at the end of the day. They had one last year before they became seniors.
