Inside an empty black void, Zoom stood on an invisible floor as he stared at the screen in front of him with beads of sweat dripping down his face. He had a worried expression on his face as he waiting for his punishment to unveil.
The transparent screen updated the words that were being displayed on it's screen and it now read.
The consequences for self inflicted death are as follows.
2 to 3 random equipped items will be surrendered to the system. 20% of the items inside your inventory are surrendered to the system, the higher the rarity of such an item the likely it is to be surrendered. Loss of 25% of a stat of your choice.
There were 3 consequences and each of them were all saddening. Luckily the third consequence wasn't as effective against himself since he barely has any stats on his sword. Therefore out of all the stats that would be deducted he chose his sword stat which turned from 12 to 9.
The first consequence was something Zoom could swallow but the second one was very punishing. The fact that the higher the rarity of an item the higher the chance of losing it was extremely painful for players.
This meant that escaping a capture through this method was an absolute last resort and even in a situation where one was captured would you really risk losing your most valuable equipment? What if you had a legendary item? What if you had an item that had a higher rarity than legendary?
Zoom's bone staff was of epic rarity which was the item with the highest rarity in his inventory. The chance that it would be surrendered was higher than the other items.
So with this Zoom braced himself. A question popped up coupled with the monotone voice, "Would you like to respawn now?"
Respawning meant that the punishment would take effect the moment he said yes. After gritting his teeth Zoom said in hesitantly, "Yes..."
After saying this Zoom's vision turned white as a bright glowed started to emanate from the screen and after a few seconds the glow fully encompassed his vision.
The bright glow slowly dissipated and Zoom could now see his surrounding. He looked around him and saw that he was now inside a small room. It was like a bedroom, the room was fully equipped with furniture and it felt very cozy there.
The room was small and there was a wooden door in the corner. Zoom stood from the bed that he was sitting on and walked over to the door before opening it.
What he saw next was a lively hallway full of NPC's. The place looked very familiar to him, after pondering for a little bit Zoom finally snapped and realised that he was now inside the Adventurer's Guild building.
He didn't know which city he was in but after asking a few questions from the wandering NPC's he realised he was still in the same city he was win. He also came to realise that he was in the 31st floor.
A floor full of rooms similar to the ones Zoom had just recently been in. Beside him Zoom saw a player come out of another door right next to his own room.
"Argh how could that serpent kill me!"
The player had a displeased expression on his face while he angrily shouted. He looked around him and looked at the others with anger and stormed off.
"So this must be the respawn area." Zoom had finally come to realise the location where you would respawn upon death which was the adventurer's guild building. Other than this he doesn't know any other information about the subject.
Now that he was alive again Zoom thought deeply about his next move.
Everyone was hot on his tail. Even Winter and a secret faction inside of Snow came rushing to capture him even though he was already part of the same guild.
'Even Winter came to capture me... I saved her career yet she didn't even feel grateful about it and tried to capture me too!' To Zoom's perspective Winter was coming at him with a clenched fist and an expression full of rage. Zoom had misunderstood the situation and thought Winter was also their to capture him too.
'I was underestimating the guilds too much and therefore this is the consequence that I have to deal with. All I can do now is move on.'
But Zoom wasn't going to take this under the rug, he was going to take his revenge. He loved a lot of things, his family, friends and games. But he also loved revenge.
'As I rise to the top I'll unleash my wrath and inflict the same pain and worry I felt to the guilds that gave me such sufferings.' But Zoom wasn't too fixated on this action. He was firstly concentrated on growing stronger. He couldn't spare too much time on revenge... for now that is.
'I shouldn't underestimate guilds or players any longer, being too arrogant is a weakness, this could bite me back again if I'm not careful.' Zoom sighed at the thought, it was completely his fault that this situation had erupted.
He was blinded by the profits and forgot to see the full picture. Next time he wouldn't be so complacent.
Now it was time to look at wether he lost his bone staff or not. He looked at his inventory and saw that he had lost his saber together with his boots and armour. His pants though were intact but he decided to remove them.
He locked his gaze onto his inventory and clicked the panel. He looked through his inventory and with a sigh he gave a smile at the fact that he hadn't lost his bone staff. This made him extremely happy and slightly withered a bit of the pain away.
After recovering himself he was now going to move. His next plan of action? Leave the planet. No... The solar system entirely.
