Chapter 36 - A Meeting Between Old Friends

The next day Luke was in his shop planning to take his wife from the clutches of his mom no matter what it took, he just couldn't leave her there.

John and the boys were as usual, having the time of their lives at the back of the kitchen whiles Victoria has been acting coldly towards Luke since yesterday's incident to which Luke shrugged to.

Whiles he was going through his phone a handsome man in a suit and sunglasses walked into the cafe with a serious face and headed straight to Luke.

Luke raised his head and glanced at the handsome man before rolling his eyes " oh dear, today is going to be a long day" he said.

"Am extremely hurt you know...? you got married to the most beautiful woman in town and didn't even invite me!

What happened to healing after Linda used and dumped you huh..? I thought you would take a while to recover but boy was I wrong.

I don't even know you anymore, who are you and what have you done to Luke? said the visitor dramatically.

The handsome guy was Luke's best friend which started way back from elementary school, they've always had each other backs and knew everything about theirselves , at least that was what Jeff thought.

Jeff was a lawyer and had started this dream with Luke but somewhere across the line Luke just dropped out of school but Jeff still pursued the dream for the both of them and their bond had remained ever since then.

"Game is game and I did what I had to do, Linda left me for someone rich so I took my game higher" said Luke smugly

Jeff looked at him for a few seconds before laughing his brains out till tears were coming out.

"What a joke, if you had the slickness to play bad, then I will call you daddy for the rest of my life,

who do you think you are kidding over here, if you could really do that then I might as well go and woo the president myself" he replied whiles wiping his tears.

So tell me how did it happen" Jeff asked.

Luke was really hesitating if he should tell him how it happened.

He didn't think it would do any harm other than hurt his pride as a man a bit so why not.

"She just walked up to me and was like let's get married and I agreed"

Jeff was stunned for a while but he knew Luke all too well to know he wasn't lying.

"Lucky bastard, are you the illegitimate child of mother luck?

How can beauty, brain, perfect body with big boobs and wealth just run to into your arms without even struggling.

Luke for the first in a while blushed when he heard Jeff.

Damn I wish something like that would happen to me. So when are you gonna introduce her to me" Jeff said whiles winking at Luke.

Luke made a gesture with his middle finger below is cheek as if thinking about seriously before replying.

"Mmmmmmm..... How about never" he said after a few seconds."

Jeff rolled his eyes at Luke, "Whatever.

They then moved to a table to have a seat and catch up with themselves since it's been a long time since they last met.

Victoria served Jeff and Luke with coffee whiles giving them a cold look.

"What's up with this hot woman too.... don't tell me you are....." Jeff said with a look of confusion but felt his body freeze as cold sweat formed behind his back.

He felt like he was being watched by a viper which was getting ready to sting him at anytime.

He turned to see the beautiful blonde waitress giving him a death stare which frightened him.

Luke who saw what was going on simply raised an eyebrow at Victoria making her stop and walk inside the kitchen with a scoff.

Jeff hands shook violently as he held the cup of coffee to take a sip which had Luke roaring with laughter, he never thought that his best friend would meet his match today.

Whiles he was teasing Jeff a group of people consisting of men and women walked into the cafe making the atmosphere lively.

This were all Luke's friends from high school who he had met at Linda's wedding.

He totally forgot that during Linda's wedding, they had planned to meet and catch up on each other after the wedding, it was like a class get together but in an unofficial way.

Luke had accepted to be the host absent minded because a lot was going through his mind on that D day.

Luke didn't mind at all though, because though he wasn't as close to them as he was to Jeff, they were all his friends at a certain point in time and had never looked down on him even after dropping out of school.

They had done all sort of things together in highschool and he really did consider them as his friends.

Some of this people here had even tried to give him a decent job to do.

"Wow this place is awesome said one woman with a lot of makeup who immediately took out her phone to take pictures.

The others along with Luke shook their heads, this woman will never change.

"To be honest when we set the date to meet you today, we thought we would be here to comfort you but look at you now" said the class rep laughing.

All of them joined in and laughed.

Though the general public may not know about Linda and Luke relationship before she married into the Austin family but they knew everything since they had witnessed Luke crushing on Linda since highschool till they dated and he was used.

They felt kinda of awkward about the whole situation at Linda's wedding and had decided to come and console him in a month time but everything changed.

Luke was now married to one of the most richest and powerful woman in the world.

she was more beautiful and of a higher social status than Linda. They were suspicious at first since they married not long after Linda's wedding which was strange for them looking at how deeply Luke loved Linda but never the less they were still happy for him and would always defend him online against the masses who despised Luke.

After that they started bantering themselves while making fun of Luke in the process.

Luke also gave them a taste of their own medicine creating a lot a very active and warm environment in the cafe, almost like a classroom when the teacher leaves.

As this mature people teased themselves like teenagers, a young couple walked into the cafe bringing a halt to the banter and laughter in the cafe.

Only loud silence could be heard vibrating through the cafe.
