Prologue: Fall from Grace

Screech~

The driver pressed the brakes of the car, stopping it when it was only a few meters away from the edge of the cliff.

The beautiful white luxury car stood under the red moon bathing in its luminescence.

The driver side of the door opened, and a red haired man stepped out.

He forcefully shut the door of the car before glancing around, observing the surroundings. There was a little hesitancy on his face and a light fear.

Bringing out the handkerchief from his pocket, he wiped the sweat that had accumulated on his forehead, even though the air conditioner of the car was on throughout the way. Even his clothes seemed a bit wet due to all the sweat that had accumulated.

Making sure that no one was nearby, he walked to the back of the car.

His heart thumped rapidly as he looked at the trunk of his car.

"Stop screaming in my ears! I'm doing it! It's my first time doing things like this, so of course I'll be hesitant."

His scream echoed in the surroundings as he abruptly became frustrated. As for why he was frustrated, it was unclear. There was no one around him, so it appeared that the man was talking to himself.

He took a deep breath, bringing out the key from his pocket. He unlocked the trunk of the car and raised it.

Again wiping his sweat that had accumulated on his forehead, he looked around to make sure once more.

"I hope no one sees me here."

He gently patted his chest, calming his heart before keeping the keys and the handkerchief back in his pocket.

Planting his feet firmly on the ground, he stepped forward, reaching his hand inside the trunk of the car.

"This guy is much heavier than he looks."

He brought a person out of the trunk, carrying him with both arms. The dark haired man in his arms remained unmoving. His eyes were closed as his face remained pale. His hands were hanging weakly as if he had no life left.

The bright red moon in the sky, and the cold chilling winds on top of the cliff were enough to make anyone shiver but the red haired man continued sweating, fear evident on his face.

He walked over to the edge of the cliff, carrying the dark haired man in his arms. His eyes looked everywhere with concern.

"You again started! Why don't you stay silent! Why do you care if I'm scared or not? Of course I'll be scared! It's not daily that I kill a person, especially my own brother! Of course I'll be scared! I don't want to spend my life in jail!"

The man continued yelling, seemingly talking to someone.

….

"I know! I'm not blaming you for it! You just helped me! I'm just saying that it's nothing strange to be concerned! So stop mocking me!"

He soon reached the cliff. Instead of throwing the body off the cliff, he placed it at the edge.

As he placed the body on the ground, he sighed in relief now that the weight was off.

He took another step forward and peeked ahead, noticing a river under the cliff.

"No, I'm not going to throw him off the cliff!" the man said, again talking to thin air it seemed, but he did glance towards his left shoulder as he talked.

"Why, you ask? Do I even need to explain? Ah, right. You're new in the human world. You only have superficial knowledge about us. Let me explain."

"If someone falls from here, he wouldn't survive. But then again, he's already dead. I have no benefit of throwing him. If anything, if his body is found, it'll be a headache."

"I don't want to kill him twice and still end up getting caught. He's already dead. Instead, I want to remove all the evidence. I can't have his body found and let anyone know that he died from poisoning! Or else, all blame would fall on me!"

"How would they know? Did you really just ask me that? Of course we have agencies that can detect the cause of death. So I can't let this body be found! It's that simple."

The man started walking back towards the car; leaving the dark haired man behind who remained unmoving.

Walking over the rocky terrain, he soon reached the car and stopped in front of the passenger side door. He opened the car, reaching out his hand inside the car.

He closed the doors of the car after getting what he needed and walked back to the body that lay on the edge of the cliff.

A red Jerry Can remained in his hand, filled to the brim with some liquid.

Reaching the body, he placed the Jerry Can on the ground, taking a deep breath. He stretched out his arms which were aching just from carrying a body and a Jerry Can.

"You're again mocking me? Do you want me to help you guys or not?"

….

"I know, I know. You help me and I help you. But that doesn't mean you can insult me. Next time don't call me weak!"

The man's face was already red in anger and embarrassment for some reason, as he spoke.

He opened the Jerry Can and picked it up again before pouring the liquid inside on the body.

As the liquid poured on the body, the potent smell of patrol filled the air.

Only after emptying the entire Jerry Can did the man put it down. He closed the lid of the Can and brought a lighter out of his pocket.

Once again, his gaze roamed over the entire surrounding which was lit under the red moonlight.

After once again making sure that no one saw him, he nodded in satisfaction.

Flick~

He tried to light up the lighter but nothing happened. Only the clicking sound came.

Click~

He tried once again but it was the same result.

"Is this thing defective? It just had to stop working today? I don't have a spare either! The heck! Why is the whole world out to screw me today?" the man cursed, frustrated.

He continued trying to light it up since he didn't have any spare.

Flick~

Flick~

Flick~

The failure continued for quite some time.  Finally, on the eighth try he succeeded. He managed to light the lighter successfully.

"Looks like finally God is supporting me." The man looked at the body under his feet, smirking. "Good bye my sweet brother. Have a safe journey."

Stepping closer to the body, he bent down and made the fire touch the bottom of the dark-haired man's jeans. The body caught on fire instantly. Further fuelled by the patrol, the bright red flames flickered with a hint of blue hidden in them.

The red haired man stepped back, watching the body burn. He wanted to watch it through.

Ring~ Ring~

The phone in the man's pocket started ringing as soon as he started the fire.

The man brought the phone out of his pocket. Looking at the number, he instantly picked up the call, placing the phone on his ears.

"Yes Uncle Wang."

"Huh? You're waiting for me at the mansion? What are you doing there so late?"

"Me? I'm, ah, I came to meet a friend. I'll be right back at the mansion."

"Arthur? Ah, he should've been at home. He's not with me. Don't worry, I'll also inform him that you want to meet both of us together. I'll call him right after this."

"No no, I'll be there in twenty minutes! Don't worry!"

He disconnected the call, putting the phone back in his pocket as he started running back, leaving the burning body behind. He couldn't stay to watch the body burn to ash as something important had come up.

"This freaking lawyer! Did he not have a better time to visit us? Father treated him too well! That's why he's dancing on our heads. As soon as I get the Inheritance, I'll show him who's the boss!" The red haired man declared as he ran towards the car.

Running in such haste, his foot landed on a small rock, which rolled to the side, almost making him fall but then he balanced himself, not falling.

He soon reached the car and stepped inside.

Starting the car, he turned it around and drove off, leaving a half burnt body behind. It didn't appear that the fire was going to stop before turning the entire body into ash.

As the red haired man left, he didn't realize that something strange was happening on the cliff which was about to change the entire course of history.
