The guests started to stream into the Castle now that it was a day before Nathaniel's coronation. Daughters of Dukes that camr along with their parents were led to another wing of the castle.
This place was quite different from the main wing where the King and Queen resided. It was Adele who handled the affairs of this side as she was the one who hired servants for the palace.
The ladies were all in groups chattering in excitement as they marveled at the interior of the castle. They were all throwing themselves compliments that never came from the heart.
All came with one motive. To win Prince Nathaniel's heart.
They had been directed by Adele's maid who handled everything for her.
"I can't wait to see the Prince tomorrow! I heard he's so good-looking." One of the young ladies cooed as she rolled her eyes dramatically.
The others who heard her words rolled their eyes and scoffed. One of them even raised her fan and flapped it open. It concealed her face. She was grimacing as she stared at the other one who spoke.
'Do you think the Prince would choose someone as attention seeking as you!? I don't even know why I'm here.' She huffed inwardly as she rolled her eyes again.
"And probably end up being unseen by him." A voice spoke out with sarcasm as the ladies created a path for the lady who spoke.
She had dark-silver hair and dark eyes that spoke of wisdom and pride.
She strutted out to the open, her head up high while a haughty smile was on her face. Her perfect white teeth revealed pointed canines that made her look like a vampire.
"Eughh! I hate the sight of her face." The girl who spoke earlier had a smile on her face as she faced her first opponent.
"You should look more in the mirror before stepping out. Your make up is all coming undone." Her opponent stated, not minding the hateful stares she received from the person she was attacking.
'Not even a day and a drama's started. Wow...' Another thought and turned around in a discreet manner. She was trying her best to avoid a lot of dramas.
"You..." The girl tried to refute but she couldn't find a word to come back. "I swear you'd regret this, Veronica." She pointed at the dark-silver haired lady who stared at her without any emotion seen on her face.
"Looking forward to see what you'll do, Your Highness." She responded to her, this time in a voice that spoke of obvious mockery and mirth in it.
It made the other ladies snicker, earning a pointed look that spoke of rage from the girl who spoke.
"Who the heck does she think she is? She's not even measured to the Princesses coming from the three kingdoms!" One murmured.
"Or up to Lady Adele's cousin!"
"Yeah, she's an annoying noise maker that wouldn't even get a thing at the end." The murmurings started to escalate into noise and it made the girl furious.
This was the first time they had the guts to speak of her in that manner. It only made her more miserable. She swore inwardly to deal with Veronica who made her look like a fool before them.
Her fingers started to fold into a ball and her knuckles turned white. The feeling that crept into her was that of pure rage boiling from being humiliated several times.
Her eyes were on Veronica who turned to her fellow ladies and spoke as though nothing happened. In just a minute, all the attentions showered on her was taken by this nobody!
'I'll kill this wench!!!' She screamed in her head and her body started to move on its will.
"Ehh...?" One of the ladies called out in shock as they saw her lunging toward Veronica.
"Veronica, watch out!!!" One of the girls screamed out. At the same time Veronica moved to the left and the girl landed on the floor with a thud.
It made the others flinch because they were sure she might have broken an arm through the impact. They started to slowly feel pity for her, while thinking she deserved it.
A smile appeared on Veronica's face as the girl whipped her head to stare at her whilst seething in rage.
Veronica went on a knee and tsked before pouting her lips. Blinking, a smile appeared on her face. "You thought you could have everything you wanted? Poor, poor Stephanie." She whined in a small voice as the room went silent.
Veronica rose from the floor with a triumphant smile on her face leaving Stephanie hissing like a vicious snake.
Veronica was about to leave but she tripped on her steps and swayed forward. Stephanie seeing this had a smile on her face, expecting the lady she hated so much to fall flat on her face.
But she was caught by her friends who looked at her in worry. They sent a look to Stephanie, one that said she should keep dreaming and nothing would happen to Veronica.
"What's happening here!?" The stern voice of Adele's maid caused the ladies to create a path for her to be welcomed with the scene.
"Let's see... a fight minutes after your arrival. I wonder how this would end up when you ladies can't live up to the names of your parents!" Her eyes roamed the Ladies' faces as she tried her best to act the role as Adele's second-in-command.
"My Lady! She started it!" Stephanie pointed at Veronica who looked at her. A crafty smile crept on her face before her expression turned pained.
"I was only speaking on what to anti —" Stephanie was interrupted from her speech when Veronica almost slipped from her friends' grip.
This action caused the other Ladies' eyes broaden in shock.
'She was alright some moments...' some paused in their thoughts.
"Apologies, My Lady. Veronica is in a very dire situation right now and needs an urgent rest." One of the three girls making sure to hold Veronica well stated in discomfort.
Her words made a slow, unseen smile appear on Veronica's face even though her eyes were closed.
'Two can play the white lotus, Stephanie...'
