Chapter 19 - Mistress

He hit the desk before he rose from it. There was a hidden dark cloud floating above his head. The gaze he sent to the servant was enough to make the poor man wither away into nothingness.

There was no expression seen on his face. He tore his gaze away from him and walked past him noiselessly.

The servant couldn't help but breathe out in relief. He was yet to get used to being in the presence of his Young Master. He only came there to deliver the news of Madeline's presence since the guard had allowed her in.

Madeline scowled at the thought of Princess Olivia striding down the Hayes' mansion with ease. She wasn't good with having to see the Princess being that free-spirited.

Madeline thought she would be dissuaded from going in today after the scene she caused yesterday. But she was wrong. And the Lady was okay with being wrong.

It only gave her more ways to make sure the Princess was never at ease. Her hatred for Olivia began when she accidentally saw Reginald helping her when they were young teens.

The Princess's cloth was shrouded with mud and her face wasn't spared. But her distinct gray eyes seemed to glow with beauty despite it. The boy then had taken a liking for the girl's eyes and had wanted to tag with her.

So, she had conceived her means of getting closer to the Hayes. Even having to involve Lord Uriel in her interest.

Madeline would go to extreme lengths just to be ecstatic about seeing Olivia sad. It was some psyche she had grown up with. Even her servants were not spared from her sadistic wants.

Her gaze fell toward the gloaming stairways ahead of her in the sunny hallways. Her forest-green eyes gleamed with zeal. She wanted to head in that direction, maybe she would see the Princess there.

She was about to take a step, but someone pulled her away from that place. Her back landed on the wall with a loud thud. Madeline winced at the impact of her landing.

She was about to lash out at the person who dared to do that. But her words were stuck at the back of her throat and she blinked twice.

Reginald was leaning so close to her that it made breathing so tough. This was because she couldn't deny the glaring beauty before her. He looked pissed, but that made him more gorgeous in her sight.

"What are you doing here? You sure don't listen to warnings." He wasn't sounding nice. If there was anything, he sounded more foreign. It was as if he was addressing an outsider.

"I came to visit my friend. Who isn't happy to see me here." She sent him a warm smile. Her green eyes gleamed with hidden motives.

She was not aware that Reginald knew of her intentions. Instead of buying her lies, he snatched her wrist. The look on his face was stern. Any servant who saw them like this would think he was about to do something terrible to her.

"You weren't invited. Learn to stay and respect yourself enough, Madeline." His cello-like voice rang out in bluntness. There was a dark aura enveloping him as he guided her away from the hallways.

Madeline never knew why his words penetrated through her chest. She almost swayed on her steps as tears were threatening to blur her sight. This was the first time someone addressed her in that manner.

If it was any person, she would have slapped them. That person would be tortured to death before her eyes. But it was him. She was rendered powerless before him.

She liked the dominance he possessed that he was probably suppressing. Now, she could not help but think he was acting this way toward her because of Olivia.

But they had just gotten married, and the Princess's thoughts of him were muddled. She was sure the Princess hated him to the point she could have objected to the wedding. But Olivia was now his wife, and he ran after her this morning.

"You're already acting quite the role of a married man, Reggie. You should loosen up..." She acted as though she never heard the stabbing remark he made about her.

"Stop this nonsense and be sensible enough. No matter how hard you try, I wouldn't even give you that look you want." He took his hands off, while a scowl crept up his face.

Enough was enough. He was getting rid of this woman once and for all. She just wouldn't get it. He was tired of smelling her cologne which almost made him nauseous.

Her sickening smile and the way she tried to wear charisma. It wasn't authentic enough. Reginald didn't want someone who was faking their intentions behind a thing called 'virtue.'

Perhaps he knew she was here to dishearten Olivia. Why would he care anyway? The two women were a handful for him, especially the Princess.

She was a great riddle to solve. Filled with a lot of mysteries and accusations he never knew.

"Why? Because of Olivia? You're taking a liking to her?" A A bitter smile crept up her face as she stared at him. In as much as she was lured to play the victim, she already got the answer.

Reginald was done with having to put off her presence. Was she that undesirable? What was it about her that irritated him the most?

This started once that stupid king had announced his intentions of getting Reginald and Olivia together. It happened after Olivia married him.

But this would not stop her from fulfilling what she wanted.

"I wouldn't even want to be with any of you." After his words, two servants rushed toward him. Madeline was shocked at their arrival. It was as though it had been rehearsed.

"Make sure to escort the Lady out of the mansion." His words were passionless, while his expression seemed calm. He turned around only to see Olivia staring at them.

Her gray eyes seemed void of any emotion. If there was something he noticed, it was her rigid posture. Her eyes fell on Madeline and she tore her gaze away from them.

It was the same way almost similar to an eye roll. She walked past them, not even sparing a glance.

"You want to choose her after everything that's going on between us. Don't act like there's not even a bond we share." Her words were loud enough to stop Olivia from her steps.

In as much as she had promised herself to ignore the scene behind her, Madeline's idiocy was getting on her nerves. She had the guts to rub their adulterous bonding on her face.

Reginald frowned when he heard those words. His eyes were on Olivia's figure that slowly spun around. Her gray eyes were radiating with an intensity he had seen before.

Her eyes were on the two of them as she took some strides toward them. The breeze in the hallway passed by, making her cascading hair flutter above her shoulders.

The scene seemed surreal. Even to Reginald himself. But he gained himself from his sudden trance.

"You have no shame being a mistress after all."
