Chapter 20 - Just a day...

Her hands curled into a tight ball while her breath started to get heavier. Seeing a proud smirk on Olivia's face after that comment got her cooking up in anger.

She could feel her whole blood turning hot as it rushed through her brain and arteries. They went to the heart, causing a very hot sensation in the chest area.

Madeline's face turned crimson as a result of the anger she was feeling. Her fingers dug deeper into her palm. She could feel her nails clawing crescent marks on them while she kept grinding her teeth.

What went through her mind was to pounce on Olivia and scratch that smirk off her face.

Olivia sighed in relief at the dead silence she received in return for her comeback. A sense of peace rained in her thoughts while her breathing seemed clearer than normal.

If there was one thing she liked the most, it was the look on Madeline's face after she addressed her. Olivia didn't bother looking at Reginald.

She knew that if she could look him in the eyes, her anger was going to escalate. She already heard his statement about her and it made her dislike him more. What the girl hoped for was that her dislike and anger to him wouldn't turn to hatred.

"Sigh, looking at your face makes me want to step out of the mansion... and never return. Ever." Her words were low, but they rang a clear message to Reginald.

But who was he to think about her thoughts toward him? She could think whatever she wanted. He was not going to give a damn about it.

Hold on... she was talking to their guest in that manner. And in the presence of the servants!

"But I can't leave my spot for a cheap thing like you to take over. I know you would be so, so happy to see me leave." She cocked her head to the side, while her eyes narrowed on Madeline's face. Olivia was enjoying the look on her face, but she knew there was nothing she would gain making her look bad.

"I won't mind seeing you both making out before me, after all, you chose to sacrifice your love –"

"Silence." His words were quick but calm. He couldn't bear it any longer. The way she sent him side-looks as though she expected him to save Madeline from her assault.

Madeline was seething as she watched Olivia's brilliant gray eyes twinkle in delight. The Princess directed her gaze to her husband and she raised a brow subtly.

"That was fast. I thought you weren't going to have her..." She felt his large, warm hand enshroud her wrist in milliseconds. At the same time, she felt her body jerk in a certain direction. Olivia felt chills swimming down her spine, she was sure goose-pimples would have appeared behind her neck.

But this was no time to act scared. She wasn't going to let them step on her like she was a carpet. She lifted her gaze to meet his scowl.

His dark eyes made her pause for a second while her breath was stuck in between her throat. What on earth was going on? Why... why does staring into his eyes feel so...

"Enough." She heard him growl from within him. Olivia snapped out of the current feeling and her stunned expression turned blank in a flash.

A vicious smile appeared on Madeline's face as she watched Reginald fighting for her. That was what she thought. A warm, fluffy feeling sang all over her, then headed straight to her chest.

Even though her plans to cause trouble were ruined by Reginald, she liked what she was seeing. The look in Olivia's eyes said it all.

Olivia never faltered in his gaze. She returned his scowl with a burning glare. One that could burn his eyes off his sockets.

Reginald felt a small movement in his grasp. He felt her feeble wrist twisting in his grip. His brow quirked and he tugged harder on her arm. That action brought her closer to him.

He leaned toward her face, while his dark expression grew more gloomier. At the same time, his voice grew darker as though he wanted to warn her of danger.

Olivia felt his hot breath fan her cheeks as he leaned to her ear. Their posture seemed too intimate that Madeline's sudden happy expression turned sour like grapes.

Why was this happening?

"Go ahead..." He whispered, slowly taking in her sweet scent into his nostrils. But his anger couldn't be cleared off by it. It only made it blaze like an inferno.

"... think the f**k you want. I don't give a s**t." Once he was done with his words, he raised his torso and took a step back.

Olivia's expression was void. She seemed unaffected by his statement, but her eyes spoke otherwise. Reginald cast a look at Madeline who remained there, sending a seething look to Olivia.

He pointed at her and shot the servants a look that said he didn't care how they treated her. He wanted her out, and she must be out!

Reginald didn't bother to spare a glance at the Princess who remained stiff on the spot. Her face turned pale, while her hands were struggling to stay still.

The zeal to shed blood took over her and she directed a look toward the tall figure that trotted forward.

Madeline was grabbed by her arms, and she kicked her feet in the air. Her protestings fell on deaf ears.

Olivia's eyes remained on Reginald while Madeline's words sounded like background music to her. Not once did she even listen to Madeline's threats.

Keep calm... keep calm... A small voice reminded in her thoughts while her eyes remained on him. Olivia let out an air and her expression loosened. She looked like she wasn't affected by whatever happened.

Olivia returned to where she wanted to head to. She was having her tour of the mansion without any help.

...

Reginald exhaled and he shut the door behind him. He let his hand rake his dark hair before shutting his eyes as a breath escaped his lips.

Just a day after their wedding and all this was happening...
