Chapter 44 - Back to Earth (1)

Azrion's immense presence seemed to soften, and his eyes held a hint of empathy. "Enzo, we understand your fear and uncertainty. We are well aware of your origins, and it is precisely because of your unique perspective and abilities that we believe you can make a difference."

Seraphina added, her voice gentle, "It's not about where you come from, but the choices you make now. The darkness that threatens our realm would eventually seep into others, including Earth. We seek to prevent that, to safeguard not just our world but others as well."

Enzo's mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. He had escaped his captivity, but now he found himself entangled in the fate of a world he barely understood, facing responsibilities he hadn't asked for.

He had only one goal: to find his family. He thought that if he were to get stronger, then he would be able to find them more easily, but it seems that it only got harder and harder. Sure he got sent into another realm and was quite lost, even after seeing the memories of the First Monarch. He didn't know what to do or how to go back to Earth. Which frustrated him to no end. But he was sure of one thing!

He didn't want to have to do anything with these so-called guardians. Sure they were strong and he was sure that he would get stronger in no time, but he had his priorities straight.

He wanted to find his family.

"I need time to think," Enzo said, his voice filled with a mixture of determination and doubt. "This is not something I can decide lightly. But I also need answers. What is this darkness you keep talking about? What are these unique abilities you believe I possess?"

Seraphina nodded, her expression understanding. "Take the time you need, Enzo. We will provide you with the knowledge you seek and the guidance you require. As for the darkness, it is an ancient and malevolent force that seeks to consume and corrupt. It came long after the Eden first descended, but we believe that the Eden is also the cause of this darkness. It can twist the very essence of creatures and realms, turning them into instruments of destruction."

Azrion's eyes gleamed with serious intensity. "As for your unique abilities, Enzo, they are tied to your lineage, the Butterfly Monarch's bloodline. It grants you a connection to the butterfly realm, granting you powers that can counter the darkness and protect the balance of our world."

"Wait, aren't we in the butterfly realm right now?!" Enzo asked, shock clearly present in his voice.

Seraphina chuckled slightly at this sight, making Enzo squint his eyes. "No, we're not. I believe that someone came to see you a few days ago, he must have told you that we were in the Nexus," Enzo nodded his head. "Well, this Nexus is like a passageway to go from one realm to another. All the wars and other battles happen here, in the Nexus, to not endanger the live of mundane people unnecessarily. Moreover, the reason why we need to stop the darkness here is that if it managed to get a hold of the Nexus, he would have a lot of realms to visit, bringing with it doom and chaos."

Enzo contemplated for a while, the weight of the information sinking in. He had unwillingly stepped into a world far more complex and interconnected than he could have ever imagined. The fate of not just one realm but many hung in the balance.

'Fuck my curiosity! Why did I even enter this tower? I hate myself!!!' Enzo could now only cry at his past decisions. He even swears to himself to not let curiosity get the better of him from now on.

Though, it was easier said than done...

"If I agree to help, what do I need to do?" Enzo finally asked, his gaze steady as he looked at Seraphina and Azrion. His decision was not made lightly, but he was beginning to understand the gravity of the situation.

Seraphina's eyes softened with approval. "First, we will help you understand the extent of your abilities and train you to harness them. Your connection to the butterfly realm is a powerful gift, one that can be honed to protect against the encroaching darkness."

Azrion added, "You will also need to gather knowledge about the butterfly realm, its history, and its inhabitants. Understanding your roots is crucial to wielding your power effectively."

Enzo nodded, a sense of resolve settling within him. He might not have chosen this path, but it was one he now walked with purpose. "I'll do it. But I have a condition," Enzo paused for a moment to take a deep breath. He was in front of two monstrous figures who could kill him in a fraction of a second. So he didn't know if it was wise to put a condition, but he was as good as dead anyway, so he might as well ask. "I won't do anything before confirming myself that my family is safe and sound."

Seraphina and Azrion exchanged a knowing glance, and after a brief pause, Seraphina nodded in agreement. "We understand the importance of family, Enzo. We will assist you in any way we can to locate your loved ones and ensure their safety."

"Thank you, but I have a few more questions." Enzo's face became serious.

"Ask away."

After a short pause, Enzo finally asked. "When will the darkness come? And what level should I be to face the threat?"

Enzo didn't know if it was normal or not, but he could feel the tension around them weighing more and more on his shoulders as if he asked something he shouldn't have.

In the end, he still got an answer from Azrion. "The darkness would soon be here," Enzo's expression became darker. "We have a year, two at most to prepare you. As for your level, you would need to become at least level 700. It is the bare minimum if you don't want to die the moment your eyes lay on the abomination."

'Ah... I'm doomed."
