In the large dining room of the Reign family, Lord Rafferty sat at the head of the dining table, and Meredith sat just next to him, with Kione following suit.
Kione slices the meat on his plate before picking it up to put in his mouth. While he chewed the piece of meat in his mouth, he cut another piece.
Meredith stole a glance from her son; a bright smile grazed her thin lips. "Oh dear, you are growing so fast." She turned to Rafferty to ask, "Isn't he?" and he nodded with a small smile.
Her eyes stared vacantly at one of the dining chairs, her smile glued to her face. "I wonder how she's doing; she has not replied to any of our letters since the start of the year." Her smile dropped as a sigh escaped her lips.
Rafferty placed a consoling hand over his wife's. She averted her gaze from the chair and looked back at the Lord with a smile. "I am sure she's doing well; when she's ready, she will return."
