"Saint mike!" The voice was followed by a loud knock on the wooden door of the house.
A few hours before midnight, some villagers stood outside the house of another village man, whom they had agreed would perform the exorcism. By this time, the children had all gone inside, locked within the four walls of their houses.
Another man stepped forward, shoving the other aside. He left a heavy knock on the door this time, thinking the former hadn't done it well enough for the saint to hear.
When there was yet again no response, the villagers present began to whisper among themselves, filling the air around them like buzzes of bees.
"Where is he?" one of the village men inquired almost immediately.
"Is he not in? The auspicious time is almost here." Another villager voiced out.
The man held the handle and jammed the side of his body to the door twice before it fell open, revealing an empty abode.
