Upon their return to the main city, Max leads the way to the Pokémon Centre. Once they arrive there, Bonnie and Korrina go to get their pokémon healed, and Max heads over to one of the phones the Centre has. He could've used his Rotom Phone, but the phones in the Centre have bigger screens, which makes it easier for what he needs it for. Once Bonnie and Korrina have their pokémon handed back to them, Bonnie heads over to where Max is waiting for her. Once she's with him, he makes the call.
After a few minutes of ringing, the person Max wants to talk to finally answers. "Hello?" says Ash, much to Bonnie's surprise. "Hey Ash," Max replies. "I was wondering if we could talk to you for a minute." Ash brightens when he registers who he's talking to. "Oh, hey Max," he says happily. "Sure, what's up?" "Well, actually," Max says, stepping to the right a bit and allowing Bonnie to be seen by Ash. "Bonnie is the one with the question."
Bonnie waves awkwardly at this. "What's up Bonnie?" Ash asks. "Need some help with a Gym?" Bonnie shakes her head. "Nope," she replies, popping the p. "I just got my badge from Shalour." "Well congrats," Ash tells her. "So, what's the problem then?" Bonnie takes a breath, then explains to him what had occured when Korrina Mega Evolved. When she finishes, she's expecting him to laugh it off and explain that it's just a sign that she's a great trainer, or even straight up not believe her. Instead, he stares at her totally dumbstruck with disbelief. This makes Bonnie slightly nervous, but also really excited.
Ash sits back in the chair he's sitting in, and runs his fingers through his hair, obviously deep in thought, which is a rare sight on Ash's face. Max and Bonnie can here him muttering to himself as he thinks about what to do. "That shouldn't be possible," he was saying. "I thought I was the only one. How can there be one more?" Eventually, he stops muttering and leans forward in the chair again. "How much of my journey through Hoenn do you know about?" he asks. Bonnie thinks about his question before answering. "Not too much," she answers. "All I know is you met Max, came 8th in the league, and defeated teo groups called Team Magma and Aqua." Ash blushed a bit at the mention of his defeat. "Well yes," he says. "That's a basic summary of my time there. But there's something else that happened while I was in Hoenn. I discovered something about myself and my family. Something called Aura."
Bonnie gets really confused now, and is dying to know what it is. "What I discovered," Ash goes on, "is that I'm what's called an Aura Guardian. And by the looks of it, you are too." Ash then goes on to explain what an Aura Guardian is. "Aura is something that surrounds everyone. It shows how people feel, and it gives every living thing its strength. Certain pokémon, like the Riolu line and Legendary Pokémon, are able to control it and speak with it. And, it allows certain people to control it, and use it for themselves. These people are known as Aura Guardians." At that, Ash leans away from the screen and holds his hand up. He opens his fingers and strains for a few seconds. After a few minutes of this, an Aura Sphere appears in his hands.
Bonnie and Max stare at this in amazement. Then, Bonnie turns to Max and asks, "How come you never told me that was possible!" she asks. Max stares at Ash, then at Bonnie. "I never knew!" Max replies, just as excited. "That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen!" Ash laughs at their reaction. "Well, you certainly won't be doing something like that for a while," he says. "I only learned how to do that after training with my Pokémon for 2 years on Mt. Silver. I learned how to wield Aura properly thanks to Lucario. I can use Aura Sphere and I can form a Bone Rush. I can also heal people and pokémon with it. But it'll be a long time before you do something like that."
Bonnie leans forward on the desk. "Please teach me!" she squeals, causing Max to massage his ears a bit. Ash laughs at this. "Well, I can't do much from where I am now," he says. "But I can give you a starting point. But I warn you, it requires a lot of concentration." Bonnie slumps at this. "I was never good at concentrating" she says glumly. "Neither am I," Ash replies. "So this took me a while to get. But I'm sure you can do it. It's the first step to becoming an Aura Guardian." This perks Bonnie up. "Show me show me show me!" she shouts. "Alright, alright," says Ash, trying to calm her down and spare Max's ears. "Well, what you need to do is sit in a quiet field for a while and feel for the Aura. Once you've done that for long enough, you'll feel the Aura of the people around you."
Bonnie looks at Ash quizzically. "How will I be able to tell?" she asks. "You'll see it," he explains. "It surrounds everyone, and shows you how they feel. To be more specific, it shows you how they feel about you and vice versa. If you see blue Aura, it means you like them, or they're a stranger that means you no harm. If you see red Aura, it means you don't like them, or they mean you harm. When you get to Lumiose to challenge your brother, you can update me on how you're doing. Until then, focus on that." Bonnie nods. "Will do!" she exclaims. "And thank you." Ash nods. "You're welcome," he replies. "It'll be frustrating at first. But just remember my motto: Don't give up until it's over." Bonnie laughs a bit, remembering Serena'a love for that motto. "I'll remember," she says. "See you Ash." "Take care Bonnie," Ash replies. "And you Max." Max waves. As Ash signs off, the two can hear him mutter to himself, "I can't believe it, there's another like me."
When the call ends Max looks over at Bonnie to see how she'd take it. To his surprise, she's grinning like a Misdreavus. "What are you smiling about?" he asks. "Oh nothing," she says innocently. "I just thpught of the perfect way to get my brother to come to Shalour." Then, without any further explanation, she dials her brother's number. Clemont picks up after a few rings. "Hello?" he says, before seeing his sister. "Oh hey Bonnie, what's up?" The two notice Korrina perk up at the sound of Clemont's voice and start blushing a bit. They snigger a bit before focusing on Clemont. "Hello big brother," Bonnie greets. "I've got some really interesting news!" "Really?" Clemont asks. "What is it?" Before Bonnie can respind, he suddenly gets annoyed. "You didn't ask a girl to marry me did you?" he asks, sternly. This causes Korrina to go even redder as tries to not run over to the phone to speak to her crush. "No, no, don't worry!" Bonnie reassures him. "I'm calling because something big happened!"
She then proceeds to explain exactly what happened in Korrina's Gym, and everything that Ash told her. Max notices Clemont go slightly pink at Korrina's name, and resists the urge to roll his eyes. When she finishes, Clemont is in shock. "So, let me get this straight," he says, pulling out a pen and paper to write this all down. "You can feel people's Aura, Ash can use Aura moves like a pokémon, and you might be able to too with enough training?" Bonnie nods her head to all of this. "Wow," he says, totally speechless. "I just... I can't think of anything to say. That's a lot to take in. I'm not even sure if I fully believe it." Bonnie seizes her chance at this. "So, come down to Shalour!" she exclaims. Korrina looks very excited at the idea, and very nearly throws herself in front of the phone to agree. "Ash gave me some advice on how to practice with my Aura," Bonnie goes on. "What say you come down here and run some tests. Then you'll see that I really am an Aura Guardian!"
Clemont thinks about the offer. Then he looks at his sister, and smiles. "Alright," he says. "I'll come. It'll take me a while to get there, but I'll be there." Bonnie very nearly celebrates at this, and Korrina actually does. Instead, Bonnie thanks her brother, then the two log off. Once Max and Bonnie move away from the phone, Korrina pulls them into a hug. "Thank you!" she says. "No problem," Bonnie replies. "This is a big chance to finally find my brother a girlfriend, after all." Korrina goes pink at those words, then lets go of the two. "Well then, I'd better get back to the gym in case I have any new challengers. See you around!" And with that, she heads off. When she's gone, Max starts laughing. "You're really determined to matchmake these two" he comments. Bonnie turns to him with a serious expression on her face. "Of course I am!" she exclaims. "He's 19 and is clearly head-over-heels for her. They've been dancing around their feelings for each other for 4 years!"
Max laughs at this. "Yeah, I know how that feels," he says. "My sister and her crush have been dancing around their feelings for each other for four years as well." Then, he gets an idea, and his own Misdreavus grin appears on his face. "That gives me an idea," he tells her. "I help you matchmake your brother, and in return, you help me matchmake my sister." Bonnie grins brightly at that. "Ohohoho deal!" she exclaims, and the two shake hands.
