After a 30-minutes journey, Jin arrived in District 2, where numerous vendors were bustling with activity, selling equipment and items for monster hunting.
Knowing that he didn't need anything from this area due to the convenience of the system market, he simply passed by and continued on to District 3.
Another half an hour later, Jin finally reached the grand entrance of the ADF building.
"Wow! This place is enormous! It could easily accommodate millions of people and still have plenty of space," Jin exclaimed in awe as he stepped into the building and made his way to the help desk.
"Hello, sir. How may I assist you?" the receptionist asked with a polite smile.
"I need to register my pet—a low-class monster called a Slime," Jin replied, presenting Zephyr to the receptionist.
"Certainly, registering low-class monsters is a relatively straightforward process, as they pose minimal threat. In fact, Slimes usually require minimal paperwork, so it's likely that it's already registered. May I see your card so I can update the database, please?" the receptionist explained.
Jin handed over his card, and the receptionist quickly scanned it.
"All done, sir. Your pet is now officially registered. Is there anything else you would like to inquire about?" the receptionist inquired.
"Yes, I would like to inquire about my parents information. Their names are Marcus and Selene Sterling," Jin requested.
"Of course, sir. Just give me a moment to retrieve the information," the receptionist replied, diligently searching the database for the requested details.
"I've found their records. I'm sorry for your loss, sir, but according to the database, your parents passed away five years ago," the receptionist said with a somber expression.
"I already knew that. My parents were part of Platoon 364 of the Jupiter mission," Jin replied.
"I will provide you with further details, and I'll send a copy to your email. Is that alright with you?" she asked.
"Yes, that's fine," he said.
"Here's a summary of the information. Based on the records, your parents died during the Jupiter mission along with the rest of their platoon members. The investigation concluded that it was an accident, and no foul play was involved. The government provides a monthly pension of 1,000 High magic crystals for their son until he turns 15. Additionally, the child inherits 100,000 High Magic Crystals from the government and 500,000 Magic Crystals from his parents' estate," she explained.
"Wait, a thousand High Magic Crystals until I turn 15? But they only give me 1,000 small magic crystals per month," he said, puzzled.
"What did you say? Let me check it." The receptionist reviewed the records.
"It seems that your uncle is registered as the recipient of the Magic Crystals because you are still a minor, and he is your legal guardian," she clarified.
"No, I don't have any guardian. And what about my relatives? I have relatives?" he asked.
"Yes, the data indicates that you have relatives on your mother's side. Your father did not have any recorded relatives," she replied.
"What the... Wait, have these people already claimed my parents' money?" he asked, his anger building.
"No, sir. According to the will left by your parents, only you can claim the inheritance once you reach adulthood," she assured him.
"So I can claim it now since I'm fifteen years old?" he asked.
"Yes, sir. We just need to complete the necessary paperwork and gather the required information," she confirmed.
"So the one giving me a thousand small magic crystals is not the government but my uncle, is that correct?" he asked.
"Yes, sir. It is legally recorded in our database, we already " she affirmed.
"Okay, can we proceed with the inheritance process now?" he asked.
"Yes, let's move to another room, and I'll need to inform my superior. Don't worry, as long as you're eligible, there shouldn't be any issues with the process. By the way, are you an Awakened?" she asked, suddenly inquiring about his rank.
"Yes, I am a Peak B-Rank. I've already registered with SEA," he replied.
"Wow! A Peak B-Rank at such a young age. I assure you, if you just show your rank to my superior, you won't encounter any problems. Power is power!" she exclaimed, admiration gleaming in her eyes.
"By the way, how long have you been living in outer space?" she asked.
"It's been 15 years since birth, and I've been living on my own for 5 years after my parents passed away," he replied.
"Wow, you've certainly faced some tough challenges. And how did you manage to survive on just 1,000 small magic crystals? That amount is barely enough last a day here on Earth," she remarked.
"I scavenged for resources everywhere in space just to stay alive. It wasn't until recently that I discovered my parents had arranged a better life for me before their death, and my darn relatives kept it hidden from me!" he said, frustration evident in his voice.
"I'm sorry, sir. I didn't mean to upset you," she said, her expression filled with concern.
"No, it's alright," he reassured her.
"We're here, sir. Please wait inside, and I'll inform my superior," she said politely, offering a smile.
"Thank you," Jin replied, entering the room and waiting for the person who would process the necessary documents.
After a few minutes someone entered the room with a man in his 30s and the other one was the receptionist earlier.
"Good morning, sir. I am Rodrick, the head of the ADF Arcadia branch," he said politely, extending his hand for a handshake.
"Good morning," Jin replied, shaking his hand.
"I am here to assist you in processing your inheritance. To begin, you'll need to fill out this form to provide the necessary information to verify your identity," Rodrick explained, handing Jin the required paperwork.
"I will just ask a few questions before we finalize the process. Are you indeed the biological son of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling?" The head of ADF asked.
"Yes, I am their son. Is there an issue with my identification?" Jin inquired.
"Well, according to our employee reports, you are registered as a Peak B-Rank Aura User. However, our data indicates that the son of Mr. Sterling has been unable to awaken since birth. This raises some suspicions," the head explained.
"I understand the confusion, but I have recently awakened as an Aura User. It's possible that your database hasn't been updated yet," Jin clarified.
"That seems highly unlikely," the head responded skeptically.
"I assure you, it is the truth. You can verify my claim by checking my SEA ID card for its validity," Jin suggested, handing over his card.
The head examined the ID card, his expression shifting from doubt to surprise.
"You are indeed a registered member of SEA. It appears there has been a lapse in updating your information in our database. I will personally rectify this oversight and report it to my superior. Please accept my apologies for any confusion caused."
Jin nodded appreciatively.
"Thank you for understanding the situation. I would appreciate it if you could update my information promptly." He said.
The head of ADF assured him, "Rest assured, I will make sure your records are accurately updated, reflecting your current B-Rank Aura User status. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"
Jin shook his head. "No, that will be all. Thank you for your assistance in resolving this matter."
With that, the head of ADF proceeded to update Jin's information, ensuring that his status as an awakened B-Rank Aura User was properly recorded in the system.
"Alright, with all the necessary details in order, you are now eligible to claim the inheritance. Please wait here, and I will personally retrieve the magic crystals from the treasury. However, I must ask, would you prefer to receive the inheritance in the form of digital currency or physical crystals?" the head of ADF inquired.
"I would like to receive it in the form of physical crystals," Jin replied confidently.
The head of ADF seemed concerned and raised a valid point, "Consider that the amount of crystals you are entitled to is quite substantial. Carrying such a large quantity might pose a risk during your travels. Are you certain about your decision?"
"I appreciate your concern, but I assure you, I am not so weak as to succumb to petty thieves. I will manage," Jin responded with determination.
"Very well, if you insist. Just wait here for a moment," the head said, understanding Jin's resolve. Both the head and the assigned employee left the room to fulfill the task of retrieving the magic crystals from the treasury.
..
"What kind of pressure is that kid exerting on me?" Rodrick muttered to himself, his voice filled with astonishment.
"What do you mean by pressure, sir? I don't sense anything unusual," Mia responded, puzzled by Rodrick's comment.
Rodrick paused for a moment, trying to find the right words to explain. "You see, Mia, as you rank up and enhance your powers, your senses become sharper and more attuned to subtle energies. It's possible that you haven't reached a level where you can perceive the intensity of his presence. Trust me, the higher you climb in power, the more sensitive your senses become."
Rodrick's voice trailed off as he continued to contemplate the situation.
"But still, is he truly the son of Mr. Sterling? He possesses an aura that surpasses that of his parents. It's as if he has a monstrous strength hidden within him," he pondered aloud, a mixture of awe and disbelief evident in his tone.
...
After a 30-minute wait, the head of ADF along with the employee returned to the room.
"Apologies for the delay, Mr. Sterling. I had to submit the necessary files and gather the information before obtaining this," the head explained.
"No problem, sir," Jin replied.
The head presented a medium-sized dimensional suitcase specially designed for this type of transaction.
"Inside this suitcase are all 600,000 Magic Crystals. Before you leave the premises, please take a moment to inspect the contents. Once you exit the ADF building, we cannot be held responsible for any missing crystals. Here, please sign this document as proof of receipt of the inheritance," he explained while handing over a tablet.
Jin carefully took the suitcase and, with a sleight of hand, appeared to place it inside his lower-level dimensional pocket.
"Wait a moment! How is that possible? That's a low-level dimensional pocket!" the head exclaimed, clearly puzzled by Jin's action.
"No, it's actually a highest-level dimensional pocket. What you saw was just a decoy. Living in outer space where space bandits roam, you have to be prepared for such tricks, you know?" Jin explained with a smirk.
"Oh, I see! You're quite resourceful, thinking ahead with those tactics," the head remarked, a smile forming on his face.
"One needs to adapt in order to survive," Jin replied, confirming his resilience. He then checked his inventory to assess its contents.
[Inventory]
600,000x High Magic Crystals
1x Medium Business Suitcase
And more...
...
"Thank you. Here's the signed paper," Jin handed over the document after ensuring the number of Magic Crystals was correct.
"Thank you, sir," the head replied and bowed respectfully.
"May I leave now?" Jin inquired.
"Yes, sir. If you have any other concerns, feel free to return here, and I will address the issue of the delayed data," the head assured Jin.
"Thank you very much, Mr. Rodrick," Jin expressed his gratitude and extended his hand for a handshake. After their brief exchange, Jin exited the room and spotted Mia waiting outside.
"Oh, you're still here. I didn't realize you had already left the room," Jin remarked.
"Hello, Mr. Sterling. It's a bit late, but my name is Mia," she introduced herself with a shy expression.
"Nice to meet you, Mia," Jin responded with a smile and offered a handshake.
"Can we exchange contacts?" Mia asked.
"Hmm, I'm afraid I can't," Jin replied.
"Why?" Mia inquired, disappointment evident in her expression.
"It's because I'm always traveling, so it wouldn't be practical for us to keep in touch. It wouldn't serve much purpose, right?" Jin explained.
"But at least, you could save my contact, and I'll save yours," she suggested.
"Sure, if you insist," Jin agreed, understanding her desire. He exchanged contact information with Mia and bid her farewell before leaving the establishment.
