Chapter 9 - Bulldog

Tiffany was growing older with every passing year and during that time she had come to witness and learn many things.

Some things were useful to her while others were not, some were warm while others contained the cruelty of the world.

She came to witness and learn about the black and white parts of the world along with the various grey areas that people got involved with.

Any kind of plans that were scheduled to happen within the carnival were known by her in advance so that she could make some preparations of her own.

Those that were close to her and were sold off to become muscle for criminal organisations, baby makers for wealthy families to produce an heir with a strong Quirk or any other possible reason for purchasing them from illegal organisations had been given something in advance.

No warning could be given to them since they were still within the carnival where they were within the grasp of their adoptive parents and betrayal was always possible.

In order to provide her siblings some support, a gift was given to each of them before they were taken away and if they listened to her instructions then they would have kept it on their body.

Each of them were given a small toy that had a mouth, eyes and ears at least so that she could witness what was happening in their surroundings where they had been sold off to.

If Tiffany wanted to do so then she could convey to them what she had seen or could pass on other pieces of information but she could also have a conversation with them if she wanted to.

If they were given a toy that could move around and was slightly bigger then she could have done even more for them but there was a limit to what could be hidden on them before they were taken away from the carnival.

There may have been some toys that had been broken or taken away upon being found on their bodies so there were some that did not get her help even with the preparations that had been made.

It was a dark night and there was a room that was without much space and lighting that had a small area where someone was sleeping.

The door was slowly and silently pushed open and a figure had stepped inside with quiet footsteps like they were afraid to make a sound.

The only thing that could be properly be made out was the sharp blade that shone a little in the darkness, they had just stepped in the room and positioned the blade ready to strike towards the person lying down as they inched closer.

There was a voice that had suddenly spoken up from the direction of the sleeping person. "Wake up reet now laddie! Intruder in your hoose! Yee deed if yee divvent!"

The voice was loud enough and came from near the person that was laying down, they suddenly shook slightly as if startled then the blanket had been flung from where it had been over them towards where the door was.

It was a Bulldog Quirk user who was once a part of the House of Horrors and he had been sold off to be a part of a criminal organisation.

He had adjusted to his role with some useful tips from what Tiffany had witnessed after he placed the toy he brought with him in different locations for her to spy on things.

It helped him to spot any potential plots against him by competitors within the organisation or from others outside of it but it helped most that there was someone watching over him during his most vulnerable moments.

The person who had entered the room had been startled by the voice and then by the quick actions of the Bulldog Quirk user, the blanket had further obstructed their line of sight so it bought more time to make a move against them.

There was little time that had passed before the distance was closed and he felt a cold blade stab into his body. "Urgh.. you."

The Bulldog Quirk user had removed the blade and showed a sinister grin before stabbing him again. "You entered my room with a blade, you should have expected this outcome already. Do not expect mercy from me just because we happened to be put together for a couple of jobs."

The other person had grit their teeth and the blade in their hand had already fallen to the ground once they had been stabbed the first time so they fell down shortly after.

Red blood spread on the ground beneath him while the Bulldog Quirk user had coldly looked on as the life drained away before his eyes. "Thanks again. You really saved me again but next time.. can you not be so loud? You scared me!"

The toy that was seated near his bed and was facing towards the door had remained silent as if it had fulfilled its purpose or it did not wish to talk any further.

It was not until a little later that the others were alerted to the assassination and moved to dispose of the body.

There was competition, jealousy and other things involved with such an organisation so it was common for someone to suddenly try to kill another for just about any reason.

The more chaotic the organisation was, the more that people did just about anything that they felt like so there were such places that some people would not be able to survive in no matter how talented they were.

It was the kind of world where the winner was king and the loser usually ended up at the mercy of the winner, everyone that knew the rules had come to accept things how they were and adapted quickly in order to survive or rise up to a higher position.

They become numb to the death going on around them and to the constant threats to their lives while killing others would become a natural thing to them.

Even tasks like cleaning up a crime scene would become a normal thing for them if it was to prevent future troubles for the organisation so they had to handle anything that happened like what happened in his room.

Once the room was cleaned up and there was a strong smell of disinfectant in the room, the Bulldog Quirk user had tried to get back to sleep. 'Tiffany.. you really saved me again. Thank you and I hope you do not suffer a similar fate like me. It is not a good thing that a kid her age is being exposed to these things but I cannot give up on her help now.'
