Chereads / The Wolf's bloody path / Chapter 22 - chapter 21

Chapter 22 - chapter 21

Neo was in a panic.

The entirety of beacon academy had been plunged into flames...

And her father was still asleep in his room.

Neo was sprinting through the halls of beacon, desperate to save her sleeping father. Parts of the roof fell and almost crushed the girl before she slammed straight through the door to the shared room.

All 4 beds had been crushed by rubble, nothing noticeable past it. The entire room was torn up and the windows had shattered.

Neo fell to her knees.

'no... no! Roman! Dad! He... he can't be gone!' The sword held at her side finally spoke again after their last talk.

'I understand that you're upset, but right now its important to find out who caused these explosions.' Neo wiped her tears, a hardened expression on her face.

'whoever did this... I'll kill them.'

Rumbling

The ground rumbled, ozpin watched in shock.

"mount Glenn... its cracking." He watched from his office as a beast of absurd size, bigger than beacon itself, emerged from Mount Glenn.

The elevator pinged and a panicked summer rose came out.

"what the hell is that thing?! Ozpin! Are you listening?!" Summer shook the dazed headmaster out of his fear.

"a dragon grimm... I thought I had eliminated all of them." Summer looked at the wizard in shock.

"what are you raving on about!? We need to evacuate the students!" Ozpin looked at the incoming bullheads marked with the white fang insignia.

"that isn't possible. With the white fang coming as well, unless you can commandeer their bullheads, there's no chance." The elevator pinged again.

"I'm afraid I cannot allow that, headmaster ozpin"

The two turned to see cinder fall in the elevator, her bow at the ready.

Summer instantly swapped with the air behind cinder and got her into a sleeper hold.

"ozpin! You better find the students a way out of this!" The mother of Ruby kicked the elevator button, the button was smashed but the doors began to close.

Cinder dropped the bow and gripped at summers wrists before using her maiden magic to scorch her arm. The elder woman was forced to let go but used her left arm to slam the half maiden into the elevator door.

The metal had clearly dented and summers muscle and nerves were slowly sewing themselves back together.

'at least this transformation didn't come without pros!' The elevator had stopped, summer twisted the young womans right arm before slamming her elbow down on the girls.

Her arm was snapped with a sickening crunch, it seems summer didn't realise what night it was.

A full moon.

With that one action, she had almost entirely ripped off cinders arm.

Regardless of whether under the moonlight, the amount of moon seeable is all that matters.

Summer didn't know this. One swift kick launched the girl through the elevators doors and out into the lobby.

"you monster! You weren't this strong when tyrian subdued you! How?! How did you gain such power?!" Summer smirked at the girl.

"a good friend gave it to me."

Returning back to our main character.

His state hadn't gotten any better. Susie looked at the now deaf man.

"that really takes a tole. He must be in so much pain. I'm... I'm jealous." The pink haired girl had a feint blush.

Hans couldn't see that. His sight didn't go that far. He couldn't hear her. He was deaf. He could barely smell her. Noseblind. He couldn't taste. He could barely feel the air on his skin.

This was the worst state hans günsche had ever been in.

Two of five senses completely useless. Left only with three barely usable senses.

What was he to do?

"my apostle. What a poor state you've been left in. Worry not. I shall guide you. In approximately six seconds, jump from tier and reinforce your legs with aura. As for your apostle susie, I'll give her a different mission." The servant froze up in her hoodie before leaping towards the cafeteria.

Let it be known, hans was not quick to trust. Especially to those covered in mystery like the being currently speaking. But right now, he had to trust this being.

A leap of faith if you will.

One

Two

Three

Four

Five

Six

A leap. Hans followed the order he was given and jumped from his beast, the instant he did, tier retracted into his shadow.

His legs glowed with a white aura as the man crashed into the familiar scene of beacons entrance with crouched knees.

With what little function he still had in his nose, he smelt two women to his right. His head turned to the duo and he could see a blurry women wearing what seemed to be a Chinese dress.

The other one looked like Ruby or summer, he couldn't even discern from her scent because of the blood he smelt.

"Ruby... summer... whichever... Leave... I'll handle... her..." summer could only frown, worry visible in her eyes at his bloodied appearance.

Since summer became a werewolf, her senses had become greater. More animalistic.

But right now, the rose matriarch could very clearly smell his blood.

And that worried her. Not only was he covered in his own blood, hans was clearly unable to discern between her and her daughter.

Despite that, summer trusted in the captains overwhelming combat prowess.

She quickly disappeared with her semblance, cinder could only stare in confusion.

With such an overwhelming lead, why concede the advantage? Unless...

Cinder thought back to her queen's order.

She is not to engage him. But at the moment, there is little choice.

Cinder conjured a blade in her left hand.

'I just need to injure him enough to escape. The dragon will take care of everything else.' The woman slowly walked forward, blade gripped tightly.

Cinder swung the blade upwards.

But hans sidestepped. Even at this distance, he couldn't see her properly. His vision was fading again. All he could rely on was the air current.

Hans had felt the air splitting from her bladed weapon, luckily, his body was still in proper state for his abnormal reaction speed to be useful.

But hans didn't know how long he could last, he needed to end this, decisively.

Ruby didn't know what was going on.

Weiss didn't either.

One moment, everything was normal. Next thing they knew, grimm were raining from the sky.

"weiss! It's a dragon! That's so cool!" The heiress facepalmed. Even in drastic times like these, her best friend could still be so childish.

However, the moments of childishness were always relieving to weiss.

If Ruby hadn't given up. She shouldn't either.

The two now stood back to back on the helipad of beacon, grimm were climbing up en masse, surrounding the duo.

"this... doesn't look too good Ruby." Her rapier was at the ready.

"we just have to break through the circle! Then we'll be fine!" Both hands gripped firmly on crescent rose.

A flash of white light illuminated the steps to the helipad, weiss and Ruby looked in its direction.

The grimm slowly backed up and summer ran between the petrified grimm. Strange. Even the ground was petrified.

That had never happened before.

"mom!" The look of pure joy in Ruby's eyes didn't shock summer. If she wasn't so busy, she'd probably have a similar look on her face.

"come on! Let's go find your sister!" Ruby burst into petals which swooped up weiss before shooting past her mother.

Summer seemed to understand after seeing her daughter headed towards the cafeteria.

Upon being given orders by the mysterious voice, susie was compelled to follow them. But one thing confused her.

The dragon

The dragons that susie knew of from fairy tales were powerful creatures. But the one that emerged from the mountain had yet to move.

'pride. Dragons are creatures of immense pride. It will take any challenge at the moment. But after some time, it will destroy beacon regardless of its pride. You have around thirty minutes before it will do so.' Susie frowned.

Games with time limits are always a pain in the ass.

The girl was falling straight towards the cafeteria, she had no clue why the mystery man wanted her to go here.

Something about preventing a blonde girl from getting injured.

Susie didn't give a shit. But, the mystery man is the reason she met hans.

So technically she owed him a favour.

The now only living legion member really didn't care. The girl landed and a snapping sound echoed out. Her breathing got heavier and the masochist blushed in ecstasy.

"such amazing pain! Oh, if I can feel pain like this everyday... I'd follow him to the ends of remnant!" The unhinged womans leg healed with little issue and she pressed on.

"such a wonderful day!" The girl happily jogged to the cafeteria door and peaked in.

Adam Taurus stood there atop one Blake belladonna, the cat faunus was bleeding from her side.

Yang was pissed. Incredibly pissed. The hot-headed, blonde bombshell jumped high into the air, reeling back a punch.

Adam slowly began to unsheathe his blade. As the two drew closer and closer, susie yawned.

How cliché

Susie sped forward, firmly planting herself between the two opponents.

The insane girl launched the blonde back with a kick, slamming her straight into the ceiling.

"oops! Seems I'm a bit stronger than I remember!" Adam unsheathed his blade at top speed and swung forth with moonslice.

A bright red crescent shot right by susie.

"to think a human apart of the despicable legion would be able to contend with me... its sickening." Susie frowned. Her job here was done.

Though, she was confident in her new capabilities, susie couldn't be bothered fighting him.

The choker is a strange object. Created through pure darkness, it creates a link between the user and receiver's soul.

Thus linking their power.

Susie will always be at least 3/4 of hans total capabilities and in exchange...

She is never able to rebel against him.

Though its not like she ever intended to. Susie's insane. Not dumb. She was quite a studious girl in school. Her odds weren't great.

Not to mention the awe she felt towards him.

Adam once again readied a strike and upon releasing it, glass could be heard shattering.

"what. . . ?" Susie was quite glad at the ice cream womans appearance. It saved her the trouble of a fight.

Several sets of footsteps hastily approached and a scowl crossed Adams face. The smug grin of neo only heightened his irritation.

'these odds are rather troublesome. I need to escape.' The roof of the cafeteria exploded revealing a white fang bullhead.

"just on time." His legs began to glow red before he leapt up to the bullhead, climbing aboard.

Ruby aimed her scythe at the leader of the Vale group and fired several shots off at the bull faunus. Most missed but one shot shattered the left half of his mask.

He covered the exposed eye with his left hand but summer saw what he was hiding for a split second. Ruby dropped her weapon in shock.

The two rose family members were... horrified. Weiss didn't have time.

"whatever you saw we can talk about later! Right now, we need to focus!" The group agreed, despite the sight.

"alright. Me, Ruby and the umbrella girl will go eliminate any grimm near hans and make sure he's okay. Weiss and hoodie. You two should focus on evacuation. Especially yang." There was something about this that confused weiss, it was also a good question.

"shouldn't we trust in hans abilities?" Susie yawned, much to everyone's shock.

"that would be a good idea. If he hadn't fought my friends beforehand. Currently, he's in terrible state. He's completely deaf and can barely see." Neo's pupil dilated.

How? How was he in such terrible state?
