The aroma of the Parmesan noodles and sweet chicken sauce filled the kitchen as I stood by the cooker, stirring the pot with care. The noodles danced in the boiling water, soaking up the flavors of the sauce I had meticulously prepared.
As I continued to stir, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. Cooking had always been a passion of mine, and being able to share a meal with Elsie and Little Gabrielle brought me immeasurable joy.
One evening, as Elsie and I sat in the kitchen, she mentioned that she would be going back to her penthouse with Little Gabrielle, just in case her mother couldn't make it to pick her up. Although I felt a twinge of disappointment, I refused to let it show.
I focused on my task, ensuring that the noodles were perfectly al dente and the sauce had just the right balance of flavors. Elsie sat at the diner, working on some files on her laptop, while Little Gabrielle held my phone, engrossed in a game of Temple Run.
