[Notice. Sealed memories have been found. Do you want to unlock the memories? Yes/No.]
"Sealed memories?" I said aloud. Could that be the memories of the ten years before I took over the body?
'Yes. Show me the memories, Athena.' I said, not knowing what I would see next.
[Notice. Unsealing the memories.]
After she said that, my vision turned dark before my surrounding changed.
I looked around. Everything around me was in flames.
Amidst the debris and eerie silence, I felt a sense of unease. I had no idea what the memories could be from. This didn't happen in my previous life, nor could it have happened during the ten years before my arrival in this world.
As I explored the vast surroundings, I couldn't help but wonder what had happened here.
That was until I saw a single person that looked to be dying on the ground. He had long black hair and red eyes.
I instantly recognized the person.
How could I not?
The only difference was the eyes. Unlike my grey eyes, he had red eyes. But other than that, he looked like an exact copy of myself.
A wave of confusion filled my head as I looked at my lookalike and around, seeing the destruction everywhere.
What is happening here? Why am 'I' dying? Is this another timeline? What caused this?
Questions like these once filled my mind.
It was then that the silence was broken by the other me, "This is the only way." He began, "Another chance," He coughed out blood as he was slowly dying, "To fix this..."
His body began to glow before slowly disintegrating into red particles flying toward the sky.
My vision became distorted before it changed completely to a white room, a hospital. Looking around, I saw people I knew. They were my parents from my previous life.
But unlike how I remember right now, they looked at the baby my mother held with love.
Wait... Was I Cale all along? Did Cale reincarnate himself into my past self that later on reincarnated into Cale again?
As I was thinking about that, my previous life played out in a third-person perspective for me.
The way I was treated changed over time without any real reason, as if they were influenced by magic.
Everything happened up until my last day in the world. I saw my body again disintegrate into particles, but instead of just red, this time, it was a mix of red and blue that slowly combined into purple.
My vision blurred again. Just like before this time, I was born again, but It looked like the purple particles were swirling around me and slowly being absorbed by my body.
The first ten years of this life I didn't have any memories of played out just like my mother had told me, right until I was captured and slowly dying. That's when the last purple particle entered my body, and I slowly healed before my eyes opened.
My vision turned dark again before I was back in my office again. The first ten years of memories before my reincarnation entered my mind, and I didn't know what to say.
If I really was Cale Valentine in my first life, then why don't I have more memories from that life?
[Notice. The sacrificial spell you used caused almost your whole Spiritual Body to be destroyed and your Astral Body to be sent across space and time before your soul combined with the soul of your second life.]
'I see... Was that also the cause of how my family treated me in my previous life?' I asked, hoping that Athena would have the answer.
[Notice. The possibility is very high that as you had a mixture of two souls, one a Human and another a Monster soul, could affect weaker souls.]
"Haha..." I let out a dry laugh.
I didn't know what to think exactly. I was glad I finally knew why they treated me like they did, and I actually didn't take over the body of Cale Valentine, but I was him.
But on the other hand, there was some bitterness that because I did that in my first life, I lived a bad second life.
Maybe I would be angrier about it if I had known when I was younger, but now it feels easy to accept it, and I could see myself doing something similar if there was a need to do it.
'Wait, what about the Tensura novel I read in that life?' I asked.
[Notice. There is a high possibility of Time-Travel involved.]
Time-Travel? "Haaa...." I think I will need a strong drink again. Everything just got a lot more complicated...
---
"Hey, did you know I was Cale all along..." I said, completely drunk.
"Huh? What are you saying right now?" Ultima asked, completely confused as if I had grown a second head.
"It's just that I found out I was Cale Valentine," I chuckled.
"Did you drink so much that you even forgot your own name?" She deadpanned and looked at me.
"Hmmm..." I hummed, counting the multiple flying chibi Ultimas on the ceiling in a circular pattern, "Maybe... hehe... hehe..." I started chuckling.
"I don't think you should drink more today..." She replied, taking away my glass of wine.
"It's just that... It's good to know you were always you... You know..." I said, slowly falling asleep on Ultima's lap.
...
..
.
"Urggg..." I groggily woke up with a splitting headache. I wished that enabling the poison nullification again would remove hangovers too...
Unfortunately, it didn't, so I needed to deal with it.
"Urgg..." Ultima also woke up and quickly covered her eyes from the sun that shone through the window, "Turn off the sun..." She said before she wrote runes in the air to block the window, "Much better."
I deadpanned, "Really, using your new Unique Skill for something like that? " I asked.
She looked at me, "You're the last one to say that..." She said groggily while massaging her forehead, "Don't you use [Material Creation] for almost everything? Besides, this counts as training..."
Over the years, she became interested when I was trying to make rune magic. While I didn't make much progress, she continued my studies and was rewarded with her Unique Skill: [Rune Magecraft]
"Well, that's true..." I said, dropping the topic.
