Chapter 19 - To Zant Port

I laid in bed and rested my eyes. My headache has started to ease as I've been getting better at controlling my new magic power eye. Still though, I took advantage of the small amount of rest as I waited for Eris to fall asleep.

Once I knew Eris was in a deep sleep, I got up and walked out of the Inn. As soon as I stepped foot outside, I heard Ruijerd call out to me from behind.

"Where are you going this late at night?

I turned around to answer him. "I was just going out to send a letter."

"You need all of that to send a letter?"

I had my traveling sack with me as well as my Aqua Heartia staff.

"I need money to send the letter", I said as I lightly shook the traveling sack. "And I just didn't want to leave my staff unattended. Eris was asleep and you weren't in the room."

"Do you intend to sell your staff?"

"Of course not!", I protested. "I would never sell my staff. It is a heartfelt, precious gift from Eris."

Ruijerd's suspicion seemed to wane a little.

"Do not worry, Ruijerd. Roxy told me that my father has been traveling the world to search for me and I only want to send some letters out to the Adventurer's Guilds across the Milis and Asura kingdoms to let him know that I am safe and on my way back home. I feel guilty that I have not done so sooner. Of course he would be worried about me."

Now Ruijerd's stern expression softened.

"You're right. I'm sorry for doubting you."

"I've thought of a way to get us across the sea to Zant Port. I'll explain everything tomorrow morning when everyone is together", I assured him as I started walking away towards the Adventurer's Guild.

Once I arrived at the Adventurer's Guild, I wrote a letter to Paul. It contained a short summary of our travels through the Demon Continent and explained that we are heading back home to the Asura Kingdom. I also explained the route we planned to take, specifically mentioning that we plan to pass through the holy capital of Millishion.

I wrote several copies of the letter and handed all but one to the guild's clerk. I asked her to post one here and also send several copies westward to Zant Port to have them distributed to all the Adventurer's Guilds on the Milis Continent.

I left the guild and made my way to the beach, making sure to stay off the main road that would pass back in front of our Inn.

After arriving at the beach, I made my way to a small pier and walked under it. There was a small area of land under the pier before the shoreline; it made for a nice hidden spot where I should hopefully remain unnoticed.

I laid out a teleport scroll in the sand and placed a rock on each of the four corners to prevent it from rolling itself back up. Then I grabbed another teleport scroll from my bag and poured some mana into the scroll to activate it.

My surroundings changed as I was soon teleported into a wooden cabin hidden deep in a forest outside Millishion. It took me about an hour to make my way out of the forest and to the outskirts of the city.

I entered the city into the Adventurer's district. Once I got to the guild, I posted this letter on the wall while making sure to keep a low profile. After the letter was posted, I immediately left the guild and looked for a secluded dark alley.

Once I found a suitable place and ensured that nobody was watching, I activated another teleport scroll taking me under the pier back in Wind Port. Thankfully, nobody else was there. The scroll I had laid out in the sand burned up after being used.

Finally done with my tasks, I made my way back to our Inn. I was very tired, and was grateful for what little sleep I managed to get before being woken up by Eris the following morning.

"C'mon Rudeus! Wake up! We're supposed to meet your teacher at the port this morning, remember?"

"Ugh...", I pulled my pillow over my eyes, "Just give me five more minutes."

"Late night?", Ruijerd smirked at me.

Eris continued prodding me until I finally caved and got up. We ate breakfast at the Inn before heading to the port to meet up with Roxy, Elinalise, and Tallhand.

"Hey! You guys finally decided to show up", Elinalise joked.

"Good morning everyone. Thanks for coming out here to meet us", I answered.

"So you said you had a plan? Let's hear it", Tallhand added.

"Yes. If you'll follow me, I have a boat that we can use to transport all of us, Ruijerd included, to Zant Port. First though, I need to purchase a sail."

"A ship without a sail?", Elinalise questioned.

I purchased a medium sized sail at the docks and then guided everyone down the shoreline.

"How far away is this boat? We're not even at the docks anymore", Roxy questioned.

I decided we were far enough away at this point.

"I just didn't want to set sail from that busy dock. We're trying to sneak a Superd along with us, after all. I think we're far enough to set sail though."

Everyone looked confused after that comment. At this point I reached out my trusty staff and conjured a huge block of stone over the water, the size of a small sailing vessel. I hollowed out the inside and slowly molded its outside form into that resembling a sailboat.

Everyone was shocked as I continued my work. I created an upper and lower deck, sleeping quarters, a rudder and helm, and the mast to hold the sail. The stone the ship was molded from was incredibly hard and dense.

Once I was finished, I dropped it down into the water with a big splash. Sure enough, the boat floated properly.

"Can someone help me attach the sail to the mast?", I asked.

Nobody answered me as they were all too shocked with what they had seen.

"How in the world is this possible? He just conjured a ship out of thin air!", Elinalise exclaimed.

"What is this magic? I've never seen anything like it. What tier of earth magic would this even be classified as??", Tallhand shouted.

"Personally, I've always thought the magic tiering system was kind of silly, I replied. "A simple stone cannon can be as deadly as an emperor level spell if you simply modify it's parameters."

"I don't even know how to respond to that. Roxy told us you were overwhelmingly talented, but this is just absurd!", Tallhand replied.

"Rudeus is amazing! There's nothing he can't do!", Eris yelled.

"I'm starting to think that as well", Ruijerd agreed.

Roxy was still speechless. I looked at her and said, "This is no different than making the stone figurines I gave you. It's simply on a larger scale."

"I... I suppose you're right", Roxy answered. "I never thought of it like that, but it's true. If you can make such precise and beautiful figurines, I suppose it should have been obvious that you could make just about anything else. Still though, it's hard to believe this is possible. I've never seen anyone utilize earth magic in such a unique and clever way."

After everyone calmed down from their initial shock, Elinalise and Tallhand went back to their Inn to pack their things and gather food to last us for our trip. Eris, Ruijerd, and Roxy stayed to get the sail mounted up on the mast and I completed some finishing touches on the ship before we set sail.

In a couple hours, they returned with their things and we packed everything into a storage area I had made in the lower deck.

Finally, we are all ready to set sail to Zant Port!
