Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Room Where it Happens

The day is now Friday after school. Thursday went as it usually did, Kyoyota Arianagi met with the remaining clubs, these included the home ec club, host club, theater, ghost hunting, bodybuilding, and a few more odd clubs. Kyo met with everyone he could and gained the list of items each club needed. He did this faster than what was expected of him leading to the event that was now taking place.

Student council president Yuuki Hanami, called for an emergency mandatory meeting of all presidents of each club to attend on Friday after school. This was to discuss and decide if Kyoyota Arianagi has earned the right to permanently be the treasurer of the student council for the next three years or if they should find a replacement. Within the student council room, there were only the presidents and some vice presidents, in a circle. Even the advisor of the student council, Gara Nyuga, had no say in this discussion so he left, taking out the two couches in the center with him to make room for the fifty people now inside.

At Neru's (president of the napping club) request the lights were turned off, adding a tense feeling to the meeting. "Alright, everyone is accounted for, since Neru is about to fall asleep she will be the first to start, then continue to go in order of those he met with. Does that sound ok with everyone?" They all nodded before Neru spoke, she was sitting on the floor, wrapped in a rather large blanket, so her voice was drowsy, "Kyooo, was like a ball of anxietyyyy. He also isn't anything like Takiko, buuuut he does have potential." Some people nodded in agreement before Amimono (president of the knitting club) spoke. "I agree, he's like a tightly knotted ball of yarn ready to unfold at any moment. Kyo seems like the type to feel sorry about something he didn't even do. Unfitting for that of a student council member, but he does have potential." Some people were taken aback by her yarn analysis, but they couldn't disagree. Kuroshi (president of the witchcraft club) spoke next.

"HAHAHA, you are all fools. I have seen a side of that boy that none of you have. He is perfect." She was as sporadic as ever, but she was the only person to see the lengths at which Kyo would go to for the student council. Everyone was confused on what happened between the two, but her words were impactful. Shosetsu Gaku (president of the literature club) gave his thoughts about Kyo next. "Arianagi is not prepared to be the treasurer of this school."

"Can you explain why that is?" Yuuki asked in a serious tone.

"His actions are not thought out fully. He requires too much observation. Plus he always has to be pointed in the right direction. Like a bird trapped in a cage, he cannot think for himself."

"I will keep those thoughts in mind, thank you. Please speak your mind next Emi." Emi Bijutsu (president of the art club) spoke, "From what I have seen he makes connections easily and sees the amount of work others put into their chosen crafts. He has potential."

Kenji Koda (president of the basketball team) nodded in complete agreement, "He can talk to anyone, and isn't the type to get intimidated by others. I think he's a great fit." The quiet president of the swimming team Hiroko Oyogu agreed with this statement. Tetsu Kin (the president of the archery club) however, disagreed with their claims, "I may have had the wrong idea about him when we first met, but he always looks guilty of something. I don't think he is a good fit for the student council."

"I will keep an eye out for that." President Yuuki remarked.

The presidents of the rest of the sports clubs, including the bodybuilding club, pretty much agreed with Koda's previous statement. The only sports club member that had an issue with Kyoyota was the archery club's president.

Asobu Shosha (president of the gaming club) gave his thoughts on the matter. "Arianagi isn't the best member of the council, he is awkward, and wavers in his choices. He tries to solve everything with logic and reasoning even if the situation before him doesn't involve those things. Despite all of that, he is fun to play with and tries his best. I think he is a good choice for the role of treasurer." His explanations are always long winded, but he spoke his mind.

Kagaku Gaku (president of the science club) was the next to speak. "Although I didn't get the chance to meet with him. My brother is always wrong when it comes to analyzing people, for that reason alone I think he is a good fit." Kagaku was the older twin sister of Shosetsu, both became presidents of their respective clubs, her voice was monotone as ever, like a robot, but she was sincere in her response, even if it doesn't seem like it.

The other presidents agreed with the notion that Kyoyota Arianagi had potential as the newest member of the student council.

"So far we have two people who believe that Kyoyota should not be the treasurer, if anyone else has concerns please explain them here and now." President Yuuki was the kind of person who wanted all opinions of others to be valid ones, wishing to work out any issues as they arise. On the contrary of this request, however, two vice presidents spoke against their president's disagreements.

"May I please speak?" Mippei Mado (Vice president of the literature club) asked.

"The floor is yours," Yuuki said a little worried, but she didn't let it show.

"I had a conversation about Arianagi with Shosetsu, I think that he has set the bar of expectations too high for Arianagi." She looked at Shosetsu, "you said it yourself, 'He is someone who shows promise at being a good fit for this school.' So don't go taking back those words before you see him actually fall short of your expectations." The VP said all of this quickly because she was nervous to be in a room with all the great's at Hanabira. She was out of breath, but it was a passionate defense.

The vice president of the archery club, Yumi Yajirushi, began her defense for Kyo as well, "I agree, my president just caught him at a bad time, and at no point did any of our members nor myself felt threatened by Kyo. He, from my brief meeting with him, was kind. He can tell how hard we are working, even if he doesn't get exactly what it is we are doing." The two presidents with disagreements to Kyo's position were shut down.

"Thank you Mado, Yajirushi, your words will be taken into account. Now everyone please close your eyes." Everyone in the room except president Yuuki closed their eyes, even the student council's own VP was not allowed to know who voted for which position regarding Kyo. "Those who think Kyoyota Arianagi should remain the student council's treasurer please raise your hands. Those who don't keep your hands down." Everyone raised their hands. Fifty people, despite some of their worries, raised their hands, because Yuuki hand picked Kyo for the position. Yuuki Hanami was considered the president of presidents, and this further proved that. She looked around with a smile on her face as though to say, "I knew you were the right choice Kyo."

"All votes are accounted for, this meeting is now adjourned, thank you for your time everyone."

Everyone walked back to their club rooms, only Yuuki and Shino were left in the room.

"Yuuki, why did you hold this meeting only for him? None of us had to get approval from all the clubs."

"Because he has the hardest job of the entire student body, and that needs to be recognized. This was also to confirm if Kyo can be his replacement."

The meeting itself only took ten minutes, and Kyo was told by president Yuuki to go home after school during lunch since he had done his job meeting with the necessary clubs and getting the list of items. By the time the meeting finished, Kyo had just arrived home, and started to get work and studying done before his hang out with Hiro tomorrow.

"I can't wait to tell him the good news." Yuuki said with a smile, before doing some paperwork and heading home herself.
