Monday morning I woke up early, my sleep schedule is very inconsistent so this was pretty frequent for me. I imagine that the stress of my first student council meeting being today played a role in this however. I went to school at 7:30am thirty minutes before class started. I was of course the only person in my home room class at this time, and one of the only people in the school in general. I sat there questioning some things, like when and where does the student council usually meet? There was no way however for me to answer these questions myself. At around 7:45 am I began to hear some noise in the hallway. I looked over to see a row of guys in a line next to the back wall in the hallway, I hear faintly some people say
"It's really the ice princess!" and "I thought she was one of the seven wonders of the school." and "why is she here? To give the first years a warning?"
None of their words made any kind of sense to me since this is the first I have heard of anything the guys were talking about. Then I saw a glimpse of black hair, but Kimori blocked the "Ice Princesses" path.
"Excuse me milady, you are breathtakingly beautiful and if possible I would like your nu-" Kimori's words and possibly his life was cut short because in that instant a group of guys jumped him and pulled him out of my view. I could see that he was being dragged away though, I clapped my hands in his honor. As I did this the door opened then closed after a girl with long black hair, dark black eyes, big boobs, with a slim body fitting neatly into our school's black uniform walked in; it was only me and her in the room, and a bunch of guys looking through the window to see what was happening in the classroom. The room suddenly got colder, I see why they call her the "Ice princess."
"Hey there, what's up?" I asked pretty nervously.
"So you're who she picked, I can see why. There is a student council meeting after school in room 403 make sure you're there on time."
Oh, she is a member of the student council I thought. "Right I will be there on time, thank you for letting me know the room number." She turned and walked away, immediately as she did the guys looking into the room got back into their … positions? On the back wall letting her pass with no issues. I was a little confused by the reaction and before I knew it my desk was surrounded by 13 guys one of whom was Kimori. All of them had a sharp look in their eyes and I felt like my life was in danger.
"Kyo, let me ask you something, how do you know her?" Kimori asked as though leading the charge.
"She is a member of the student council, she had an important message to tell me is all." I innocently and accidentally used a poor choice in words as they yelled
"AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE?1?"
"Not like that you idiots! For the student council meeting." All of them sighed in relief. Kimori then looked at me and said, "these guys are seriously devoted to her, if you try anything towards the princess I cannot guarantee your safety."
Mr. Shindo walked through the door and began the lecture. However, I only had one thought running in my head at that moment, will being the treasurer get me killed?
After school I went up to the fourth floor, it was my first time here. Right in front of me was the student council room, it was the first room on the fourth floor, easily accessible to the students and faculty. I paused before entering the room, I then felt a tap on my shoulder, "Um are you going in?" A girl with light brown hair, hazel eyes, and was really thin asked me. "Oh yes, sorry." I opened the door and she followed behind me. The student council room was massive, at the center was Yuuki on a large desk, the back wall a large bookshelf that covered the entire wall, it was filled with all kinds of files and books. In front of the main desk were two couches, both at an angle with a table in the middle. The right couch had two people on it, one was the girl from this morning and the other was a bright red haired kid who looked like a middle schooler. In the coroner of the room was another desk, a man with white hair and a gray dress shirt was sitting there.
"Please come in Kyo, have a seat." Yuuki said. I sat down on the left couch, across from the princess. The girl who followed behind me sat at the end of the left couch across from the red haired kid.
"Right all of us are accounted for then, I hate to do introductions again, but we have a new member so please state your role and year, we will go clockwise. I shall go first, my name is Yuuki Hanami, the current president of the student council, 2nd year." The girl across from me introduced herself next, "I am Shino Akino the current vice president of the student council, 3rd year." How is Yuuki a year younger and in a higher position? I seriously do not get how this school operates, I asked myself. "Yo yo, I am Ryuji Nora, this year's student council secretary, 3rd year." This kid is a third year in high school?? This has to be a mistake, he even sounded young. "Guess it's my turn, my name is Miura Nora, the student council's scribe." Wait, they have the same last name, but they look nothing alike, just coincidence? I don't get this at all, but I didn't have much time to process any of this as it was now my turn, "I am Kyoyota Arianagi, this year's student council treasurer, 1st year." Yuuki looked at me with a smile, then snapped her head to the man in the corner of the room, "Mr. Nyuga please introduce yourself."
"Suuup, I am the adviser of this club, please don't need me."
"Some teacher you are!" Yuuki yelled. She sighed and stood up from her desk, "listen up, to be blunt there isn't much to do this early in the year. Shino, I would like you to ask the teachers to get a list of what each class wants to do for the welcoming festival. Ryuji please organize last year's albums and files and add them to the back shelf. Kyo, I would like you to meet with each club and get a list of items that they need. Please take this opportunity to get to know the clubs well, you have until next Tuesday to get this done. It will make your life easier later on. Miura once Kyo gets that list from each club, please put the items of each list in ascending order of most to least important so we can see what all we can help them with. Mr. Nyuga, please do something useful. Any questions?"
Everyone more or less understood what they had to do and how to do it, so they all shook their heads. Yuuki looked at me, "Kyo do you have any questions so far?" "Yeah, um, which club should I start with? There are a lot at this school." Yuuki didn't seem at all surprised by my question and it seemed like she had prepared an answer for she took no time at all to say her answer, "Start with the napping club located in the basement of this building and go from there I guess. Anything else? No? Great, see you all here next Tuesday then."
Yuuki really was amazing, a good leader as well, I see why she is our president. Everyone stood up and walked out of the room, as I began to stand up Mr. Nyuga asked me to hang on a second. It was now Yuuki, him, and me left in the room.
"What's up Mr. Nyuga?"
"Let me explain your role as treasurer, considering you have the hardest role out of any student you're likely to not get the full picture of your position." As he began to explain my role he handed me a keychain with many keys attached to it, more than I knew what to do with. "This is now yours, there is a key to every club room, don't ask me why you don't just get a master key. I don't make the rules, the school likes to be complicated for no reason. You will gain access to club finances and have a monthly budget which goes to the club's presidents, but you have to divide and distribute that money as you see fit. You will be overseen by me, but I am lazy and I don't feel like thinking. I am giving you this advice now so I don't have to lecture you later. Do not be a yes man to everything a club asks for, do not pick favorites, and listen to your gut. Essentially speaking, in about two weeks from now when you gain access to everything, you will be the most impactful person in terms of what our clubs can and cannot do. Be wise Mr. Arianagi."
I get it now, why there are so few members in the student council and why it is a challenge to get into it. The answer is trust. I don't feel that worried about my position because of my aunt, any money advice and I can just go to her, I also see how being a member of the council gives you good opportunities for one's future too. This is beginning to look very time consuming on my part though.
"I still don't understand my full role yet, or the abilities that come with that, but I won't let either of you down."
"You picked a good kid, Yuuki. As long as you don't let me down I will get to sleep more so please understand that my naps are on the line with the decisions you make."
"Mr. Nyugaaaa!!! Don't scare my members away! Kyo please leave and go talk to some of the clubs as I deal with this man child here."
"Uhh, right see you later then."
"Wait Kyo! Don't leave me with this deranged president please!!"
I could still hear his screams from the third floor, but I paid it no mind. I went down to the basement floor and smelled a weird aroma. It was scented whatever it was, it was nice, "is this the napping club?" I asked myself before knocking on the door.
