Chapter 408 - Vampires Vs Werewolves (Part 4)

In the dimly lit forest, the trio of young first-year students had transformed into their fierce werewolf forms. They raced through the woods with a wild, untamed urgency, fleeing from the looming presence of vampires. In their naive belief, they had assumed that Gary was the sole vampire they needed to fear within those dark woods. Little did they know, their assumptions were dreadfully mistaken.

As Christopher and his companions urgently implored the young students to make a desperate escape, the fledgling werewolves did not pause to consider. They sprinted through the underbrush, propelled by the sheer terror that coursed through their veins. However, to their utmost shock and dismay, the truth that awaited them was far more chilling – vampires still lurked, hidden amidst the shadows of the forbidding forest.

Among the vampires, there were familiar faces like Arthur and his friends. Notably, Alex was absent, as he was with Noah. The vampire students were the ones hot on the trail of the three escaping werewolves. However, these vampire students didn't have the rigorous training that the likes of Gary and the royal guards had received, so their speed still couldn't match up to that of a werewolf.

To level the playing field, the vampires resorted to a clever tactic. They sprayed themselves with a special concoction that masked their scent, making it blend with their surroundings. This crafty trick prevented the werewolves from detecting their presence from a distance, ensuring that the element of surprise was on the vampires' side when the inevitable confrontation occurred.

These students weren't even equipped with protective beast armor, which left them in a vulnerable state. If the werewolves decided to launch an attack, there was a chance they could overpower and possibly harm the vampires. However, despite this advantage, the werewolves were paralyzed by fear and unable to think clearly, haunted by the gruesome spectacle of what Gary had effortlessly done to their fellow pack members.

While the werewolves were in full sprint, a vampire leaped down from a tree above, using his legs to crash into a werewolf. However, the werewolf's sturdy stamina allowed him to withstand the impact with only a slight recoil. Driven by his primal survival instincts, he swiftly extended his claws, targeting the vampire's throat.

With remarkable speed, the werewolf's claws punctured the vampire's throat, delivering a fatal blow. In an instant, Stefan, the vampire, met his demise.

With a resounding "BANG!" echoing through the forest, Arthur delivered a powerful kick to the werewolf's back. The sheer force of the impact sent the werewolf hurtling several meters, crashing into a tree. Although the tree remained intact, the collision created a thunderous noise that reverberated through the woods.

Fury burning in his eyes, Arthur wasted no time. He charged forward, his voice filled with anger, "You just took the life of my roommate!"

In the wake of Arthur's sudden and devastating strike, the remaining two werewolves, still shaken and terrified, exchanged determined glances. Their hearts pounded with adrenaline, and the memory of what they had witnessed Gary do to their packmates fueled their resolve. Gathering their courage, they understood that they needed to fight back against the vampires who had now become their assailants.

With renewed determination, they lunged forward, their claws extended, ready to take on the vampire threat. It was time for them to stand their ground and protect each other against their supernatural adversaries.

The werewolf who had collided with the tree remarkably sprang to his feet almost instantly. He had only a split second to react as he saw Arthur's menacing claws coming for his face. With lightning-quick reflexes, the werewolf shifted his head back, narrowly evading the attack. Seizing the moment, he countered with a swift kick aimed at Arthur's stomach.

Arthur attempted to twist his body to dodge the incoming kick, but the werewolf's speed was astonishing. The attack connected with brutal force, striking Arthur's left rib and causing the bones to crack audibly. With a painful gasp, Arthur crumpled to the forest floor, clutching his injured side.

The werewolf, on the verge of delivering a final blow to Arthur, suddenly found himself under attack from multiple sides. A vampire struck him from the right with a powerful punch, causing the werewolf to stagger slightly. In a desperate attempt to retaliate, the werewolf aimed his claws towards the vampire's head, but before he could execute the attack, another vampire, coming from his rear, delivered a devastating kick with tremendous force.

The force of the kick propelled the werewolf forward just enough for another vampire to seize the opportunity. With deadly precision, this vampire thrust a weapon into the werewolf's heart, delivering a fatal strike. In his final moments, the werewolf's claws managed to sever the right arm of the attacking vampire, but it was a bittersweet victory as he succumbed to his injuries and perished.

"Aaah!" The vampire's cry of pain echoed through the forest as he clutched his severed arm, writhing in agony.

Despite the formidable protection of Gary's armor, traces of blood began to seep through. The relentless assault by the werewolves, all attacking simultaneously, had taken a toll. The only vulnerable point on the armor was where his eyes were positioned. Even though the werewolves couldn't breach the armor with their claws, their powerful punches managed to inflict some damage. While most of the damage was absorbed by Gary's protective armour, the unrelenting barrage made it appear as though the armor was on the brink of shattering, and internal bleeding had become a pressing concern. The scent of blood, even if faint, reached the werewolves' sensitive noses, bringing sinister grins to their faces.

Benjamin, Alexander, Sophie, and their compatriots continued their unyielding assault, delivering heavy blows. While the armor remained resilient, the unceasing onslaught made it seem as if Gary's body encased within was approaching the breaking point.

'It's time; the armor has absorbed enough damage,' Gary thought with an eerie sense of satisfaction. 'This is the price I'll have to pay.'

Unbeknownst to the werewolves, their minds appeared 'stupid compared to vampires,' and none of them detected the unexpected trick that Gary had concealed.

Out of the blue, Gary's silver armor began to radiate a blinding brilliance. The werewolves instinctively shifted backward, their circle still surrounding the vampire, but fear now held them in check.

'What kind of light is this?' Benjamin pondered, shielding his eyes from the intense radiance. The werewolves, whose sensitive eyes rendered them particularly vulnerable, struggled with the dazzling light.

Suddenly, the radiance intensified, and the werewolves attempted to flee. Yet, they couldn't escape the radiant onslaught, and as the brilliant light made contact with them, their bodies froze in place. Only their eye sockets and hearts exhibited signs of movement.

"This was the price I had to pay," Gary spoke, rising to his feet with a slight grimace, the pain still coursing through his body. "This is precisely why vampires have always referred to your kind as 'animals'," he added, now standing directly in front of Benjamin, whose body remained immovable despite his frantic attempts.

"Your kind's simplicity astounds me. Did you honestly believe I'd let you harm me without any form of retaliation?" Gary questioned as he gracefully moved around each of the werewolves, who were locked in their futile attempts to escape. They had been caught mid-run, just as they had planned to flee before being frozen.

"I needed each of you to strike my armor so forcefully, so that the power would awaken within it," Gary declared, stretching his right arm into the air. "This power enabled me to freeze anything the light touched, and that's precisely what I've done to all of you!"

Fear gripped the werewolves as a distant sound reached their ears. In an instant, Gary's sword, which had been cast aside, soared through the air and into his waiting hand. Holding his sword triumphantly in his right hand, he fixed a chilling gaze on Christopher Morgan and uttered, "You're the first one I'm going to eliminate."
