As Watson watched Miller open his eyes, relief washed over him. But that relief was short-lived, as he saw the look of sheer terror in Miller's eyes.
"Alex...," Miller began, his voice shaking. "I think we might be in trouble."
Watson's heart dropped. He'd had a bad feeling about all of this from the start, but he'd hoped he was wrong. Now, he had a sinking feeling that the trouble they were in was worse than he'd ever imagined.
"What's wrong?" Alex asked, concern etched on his face. Watson knew he had to be honest.
"I'm so sorry, Miller," Alex said, his voice filled with remorse. "I didn't mean to hit you so hard. I got carried away and I lost control. Please, forgive me."
Miller just stared at Alex, his expression unreadable. Watson could tell that Miller was struggling with what to say. Finally, he spoke.
"I forgive you, Alex," Miller said, his voice quiet but firm. "But we have to figure out what to do next."
"What are we going to do next," Watson asked, confused. Watson thought maybe Miller wanted to fight with Alex again. But he was wrong.
Miller tried to get up to his feet. But he was weak. It was like his stamina was that of a crawling child. His legs and his entire body was weak.
Miller leaned heavily against Watson's shoulder, his breathing labored and his face pale. He looked as if he might collapse at any moment. Watson felt a surge of protectiveness, wanting to do anything he could to help Miller feel better.
"You need to rest," Watson said gently. "You've been through a lot, and you're exhausted."
"I can't rest," Miller said, his voice raspy. "There's too much at stake. I have to find a way to get my strength back, fast."
"We'll figure it out," Watson said, trying to sound reassuring.
'What have I done.' Alex thought as he got closer. Alex and Watson thought it was because of the fight that's why Miller became weak. But it was certainly far from that.
Finally Miller decided to tell them:
"I have Five Hours Left." Miller said.
Alex and Watson looked at each other confusedly. Miller could see the confusion in their eyes and decided to explain it to their understanding.
"Remember when i told you i have a problem." Miller said. "The one that if my entire Health Points gets to Zero according to the System. I would turn into a monster."
"An uncontrollable beast, that wouldn't stop until it makes a Kill..." Miller couldn't complete his sentence because Alex had interrupted.
"Killer Mode!" Alex interrupted as he pointed his index finger towards Miller. He had a broad smile on his face, but that soon vanished when he saw the look on Watson's and Miller's eyes.
This was a serious matter. The lives of others were in the line and he was making a joke.
*Cough!
He pretended to cough. To ease the awkwardness. Right now, he felt like he had acted stupid.
"Was I the one who fastened it?" Alex asked out of curiousity.
"You weren't the main cause. It was Cath..." Miller stopped talking Immediately. He almost said Catherine's name. Catherine was actually the one who had fastened this in the first place
It was when she hit him in the school library area. When he fainted. That hit had caused him 50,000 Health Points to recover. It seems like she used Magic to crush his bones. Catherine's Ability to perform magic and she being a Dhampir are not known to anyone else in this School.
Catherine had also warned Miller to not tell anyone about this. Although, Miller was scared of her, because the System had told him that She was powerful and he needed to be careful around her. Plus, Miller didn't feel like he had the right to share another person's secret.
"Cath..." Alex said as he smiled. "What, you've given her a pet name already."
Watson chuckled, this was actually funny.
"I don't know if I should tell you this." Miller said.
Miller then went on to explain to them that Catherine had the ability. He deliberately left the part of she being a Dhampir, he knew clearly what Alex would do. Alex was a Vampire and thus a Dhampir would be his greatest enemy. Even if the System said, Catherine was Powerful. Miller didn't see her as a threat, especially right now.
"Wow." Watson said.
"Watson, i know you are always curious." Miller said with concern. "You need to be careful with her."
"The System had warned me that she is powerful that i should also be careful around her." Miller said these words slowly, so that both Alex and Watson could feel the weight.
'Catherine might kill me for this.' Miller thought.
"Okay. Understood, we have to act like we don't know anything." Alex said.
"Yes, I hope you can do that." Miller said.
"Yes." both Watson and Alex said in unison.
"System," Miller then said to the System in his head.
Miller didn't speak in his mind, instead he spoke out loud so that the others could hear. The System would have found this annoying. But since Alex and Watson already know of his existence, it didn't find it a big deal.
"What if I tell them to chain me up. I mean what if i tell Jacob, Catherine, Alex and Watson to chain me." Miller said. "Would that help."
"Yes. It would." The System said. "Catherine is powerful, Jacob a Werewolf, Alex a Vampire and Watson a human. It would be enough to hold you down, so that you wouldn't kill."
A broad smile appeared on Miller's face, because for now he could feel a little hope.
Miller then forced himself to stand, he almost fell, but quickly regained composure. It was clear his Stamina was getting weaker.
"Catherine and Jacob, I need their help. Let's go get them." Miller said as the three boys left the room.
But the System had a thought that was disturbing him. He didn't know how to tell Miller, he had lied to him.
'Miller, I'm sorry I lied to you. I know very well that, as a Throsk'Bok, when you go into Killer Mode, even those people won't be able to stop you.' The System thought. 'Miller, you have to make a kill.'
'It's the only way to learn how to control your Killer Mode.'
