[HP: -500]
This was the first message that greeted Miller when he opened his eyes.
[HP: 2,320/256,000]
This was just a clear reminder to Miller that his Killer Mode was approaching whether he likes it or not.
"Is there any way I can skip this Killer Mode problem." Miller asked the System. Miller already knew the answer but he wanted to hear it from the System itself.
"You can't, Miller." The System said. "I would have loved to help you. But I can't."
Miller let out a frustrated sigh. "I was afraid of that," he said. "Is there anything I can do to at least make it less…painful?"
"I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do to mitigate the effects of your Killer Mode," the System replied, its tone sympathetic. "It is an inescapable part."
Miller sank down into a nearby chair, feeling defeated. It seemed like there was no way to avoid what was coming.
"I can help you to prepare, however," the System said, sensing Miller's despair.
"There are ways to manage your mental and physical state that can make the experience less overwhelming," the System said. "Things like meditation, exercise, and getting enough sleep can help to prepare your body and mind for the changes that are coming. Do you think you can do these things?"
Miller nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. If he couldn't stop the Killer Mode, maybe he could at least make it more bearable. "I'll try anything," he said. "What else can I do?"
"One thing that may help is to find an anchor," the System said. "An anchor is something that can help to ground you and keep you centered when things get difficult. It can be something physical, like an object or a place, or it can be something internal, like a memory or a feeling. Do you have anything like that?"
Miller thought for a moment. Then a thought came to him. "I do have something," he said. "It's my mother's necklace. She gave it to me before i came to school. I keep it with me always."
"Miller. There is one thing. I want you to note." The System said. "When you go Killer Mode. You would turn into a beast. Your physical appearance would change and you will not be able to differentiate between your friends and your foe."
"I know this is a hard pill to swallow." The System said again. "Miller, I think it is more advisable you kill someone before you go Killer Mode."
"Look at your friends Watson and Alex. They would all be in danger. In fact the entire school would be in danger." The System said. "Miller. Just make a Kill. It would be better than putting your entire group of friends in danger."
As the System said those last words. Miller looked at Watson and Alex. The two were still sleeping and what the System said entered Miller's head for a Second.
'Should i make a kill.'
'Who should i Kill then.'
'I want to Kill EMILY'S kidnapper.'
'No. I can't do that. It would take away my humanity. I would be a monster before i turn into one.'
Those were the thoughts in Miller's head.
'No. I can't my mom thought me better.' Miller thought.
"Miller you can cheat this by levelling up." The System reminded Miller again about this Level Up. But the problem is Miller was getting weaker and weaker, so how could he even fight.
"Why don't you fight your Minion, Alex Justin." The System said. "Defeating him would give you an instant Level Up."
"Is that not what you desire to escape this Killer Mode. Defeat Alex and it would be granted to you."
"But before you start that. I would advice you to train him because currently he has the ability of Bloody Burst."
"Since he is your own Minion. I would be able to give you information on how his Abilities work." The System concluded.
Miller thought of this for a second. There were two person who if he defeated would make him leave this level. One was Catherine and the other is Alex.
Miller also thought that maybe Victor Carter who was able to fight many mutants at a time would be able to give him a Significant boost even more than Catherine. But looking at his HP and how weak he had become. He knew Alex was the best option and besides Alex was his minion. He could use his Summoning Pact to stop him at any time.
"You're right," Miller said, finally coming to a decision. "I need to focus on training Alex. I know it's not going to be easy, but it's the only way to make sure I am prepared for whatever happens next. And if I can get information on his abilities, that will only help me in the long run."
The System's words had finally gotten through to him. He couldn't risk sacrificing his morals, but he also couldn't afford to be weak when it came to facing whatever dangers lay ahead. Training Alex was the best option, even if it was a difficult one.
Miller then went and tapped Alex who was still sleeping. Alex raised his head a little bit. It was clear Alex's eyes were still heavy.
"What is it." Alex said without opening his eyes much. "Is it almost time for class."
"No. It isn't." Miller said. "I need your help."
"You are the key for me to escape my Killer Problem." Miller concluded.
