Chapter 54 - Welcome to A World without Sight

[THE USER HAS BEEN INFLICTED WITH GREVIOUS INJURY TO THE EYE]

[THE USER IS GOING BLIND]

[ENHANCED HEARING WOULD BE MORE THAN NATURAL FOR THE USER]

[UNNATURAL HEARING ACTIVATED SUCCESSFUL]

Miller at first did not understand what UNNATURAL HEARING ACTIVATED SUCCESSFUL meant, but seconds later, he started to understand.

Miller's hearing was now more sensitive than he could have ever imagined. It was as if his entire world had been transformed, with every sound amplified and clear as a bell. He felt like a bat, with his ears picking up the tiniest details, detecting even the smallest vibrations in the air. He didn't need his eyes to see anymore - his supercharged hearing allowed him to "see" with incredible precision, as if he had a radar that could map out his surroundings. It was something unnatural and extraordinary.

Even though he could no longer see, he could clearly hear the words of the system:

[THE USER SENSE OF SIGHT HAS BEEN DAMAGED]

[AUTO REPAIR ACTIVATED]

[AUTO REPAIR WOULD SLOW DOWN BECAUSE THE USER HAS NOT ATTAINED THE ABILITY OF QUICK REGENERATION]

[EYE SIGHT WOULD BE HEALED COMPLETELY IN THE NEXT FORTY-EIGHT HOURS].

"James, it's okay, i am going to gain my sight back" Miller said to James as he stood up from the floor.

Miller at first did not believe what the system said, but he knew that if the system was able to grant him these supernatural hearing ability, it could surely heal his eyes completely.

"How do you know that?" James asked.

"I just know" Miller said faking a smile.

Miller's smile blossomed into an expanse of pure joy, stretching across his face like a radiant sunrise. The resolute affirmation from the system echoed within him, causing him to embrace its words with unwavering certainty. Within the span of the next forty-eight hours, he would be bestowed with the precious gift of his once gone vision.

Miller's conviction in the system's proclamation stemmed from a profound realization. When he fell victim to the vicious grasp of the alien plant, he was plunged into an abyss of impenetrable darkness. Utter blindness consumed his senses, leaving him utterly bereft of light or hope.

Yet, a transformative change had now taken hold. Although shrouded in obscurity, faint glimmers of perception pierced through the veil of his sightlessness. Though feeble and muted, this glimmer served as a resolute beacon, signaling the dawn of his healing process.

"The exhaustive and comprehensive research endeavor has reached its final culmination," proclaimed Aurora Holmes, exuding an air of authority and commanding the utmost attention from the Anti-Meta Human traveler soldiers, who were under her charge.

"Affirmative, esteemed ma'am," responded the collective unit in perfect synchrony, their voices blending into a harmonious chorus of compliance.

With utmost care and tenderness, James cradled Miller in his strong arms, mirroring the gesture of a cherished bride, signifying both protection and reverence, as they made their way towards the awaiting vessel.

The majestic spacecraft swiftly soared through the boundless expanse of the heavens, propelled by an indomitable velocity that manifested the essence of expeditiousness, swiftly traversing the distance back to the secure haven of the shelter.

They had arrived at the shelter and Miller not felt a little bad. Miller once used to admire the beautiful techs in the shelter. But without his sense of sight, he could no longer admire it. His entire life was now altered, he had to wait for the next 48 hours before his sight could be seen.

Miller thought of how long that would take and then finally a system voice was heard in his head:

[THE USER EYE REPAIR IS IN PROCESS]

[REMAINING TIME: 45 HOURS, 54 MINUTES]

"Wow" Miller said. "It is still a long time".

Miller now felt a little bored when he entered his room. James wanted to follow him inside his room, but he resisted. He told James that he needed some space. James obeyed.

The Amargans had medicines they could use for treatment. They used it to heal so many injuries, but healing someone who had become blind was somehow impossible for even them.

Since Miller had nothing to do, he started to think more of how he could use his powers to his advantage. Even though he had no idea to use his other ability, he could feel his strength inside him, but he did not know how to practice.

"System, do you know how i can practice with my Abilities" Miller said.

"Yes" the system replied.

"i would like to learn how to get stronger" Miller said.

"The way you get stronger is by Leveling up" the System said.

"How do i level up?" Miller asked.

"The only way of leveling up is by performing Quests given to you by me; the System" The System said.

"What kind of Quest, would you give me?" Miller asked.

"I don't know yet, it depends on the circumstances" the System said.

Miller was no longer feeling concerning about the quest, he felt eager to know who made the system.

"System, who made you? how did you come into Existence? and how did you arrive at Mala Ses? how were you an orb?...." Miller still wanted to continue with the question but he was stopped by the system.

"It's not of importance yet," the system whispered ominously to Miller. Its voice hung in the air, laden with secrets and untold truths. Miller's heart quickened, sensing the weight of unspoken knowledge that loomed just beyond reach.

The system's cryptic words sent a chill down Miller's spine, leaving a lingering unease in their wake. Time seemed to slow, each passing moment intensifying the suspense, as if the very fabric of reality held its breath in anticipation.

"I will tell you everything when the time is right," the system continued, its tone dripping with an enigmatic allure. Miller's mind raced with questions, desperate for answers, yet aware of the dark foreboding that cloaked the imminent revelation.

"As for now," the system cautioned, "just focus on getting stronger." The urgency in its voice was palpable, a subtle warning of the impending storm. The weight of destiny pressed upon Miller's shoulders, as if the fate of the world rested upon their readiness.

"A great war is coming," the system finally revealed, the words hanging in the air like an impending thunderclap. The gravity of those words settled upon Miller, igniting a fire within, a resolve to face the unknown and emerge victorious.

"What... great war is coming?" Miller whispered, his voice quivering with unease as he dared to unveil the depths of his trepidation.

"I would... explain everything when the time is right," the system murmured, its words dripping with an ominous weight. "As for now... just focus on what is in the present and not the future, knowing... everything would only... distract you." A pause filled the air, pregnant with the unspoken secrets lurking beyond the veil of time.

[NEW QUEST]

[EASESDROP ON A CONVERSATION THAT OTHERS, INCLUDING THOSE WITH SUPER HUMAN HEARING, CANNOT HEAR]

[QUEST REWARD]

[EXP: 50/800]

The System had tried its best to end the topic by giving Miller a new quest. Miller who did not know how to use his ears was confused how he could complete this task.

"i know what you are thinking" the system said.

"what do you think i am thinking about" Miller replied.

"You think you can't do it" The system said.

"yes i can't" Miller concluded.

"Yes, you can" the system said.

"Imagine, you were born on a different world. A world without sight" the system said.

As Miller contemplated the system's words, he felt like his entire existence had been narrowed down to a single sense. His hearing was the only thing that mattered, the only thing that could save him from whatever was coming. The world around him seemed to fade away, leaving only the sound of his heartbeat and the rush of air through his ears. It was as if his senses had been distilled into one pure focus, a razor-sharp intensity that cut through everything else. In that moment, Miller understood what it meant to truly listen.

An argument had started among them.

"If we do not do anything about this, we will be deemed weak" one of them said.

"Yes, the information that our prisoners killed two of our guards has spread round to even other races" another replied.

"From the prison photage, it is clear that the prisoner who did this act was a human" Another said.

"Humans are now getting stronger" Balcurus said. "Since our last encounter"

"Let's go and colonize Earth, we will break our deal with the Permberton." One of the Mevorotrians said.
