Chereads / Sorcerer's Path / Chapter 40 - One Hectic Day

Chapter 40 - One Hectic Day

I was mentally depressed and weakened. My thoughts no longer wanted to stray in the direction i wanted them to.

No matter what I did or thought, the only image that kept flashing through my mind was the one of myself losing consciousness before the macro Scorpio!!

I could have died. No, I should have died.

If it wasn't for the help of those scary samaritans, I wouldn't be where I am now.

They saved me and what did I pay them with? A scornful gaze!

How rude of me.

However, I can't entirely blame myself for the way I reacted. It was a reflexive reaction brought about by their appearances.

Either way, I need to thank them when next I see them.

By when next, I meant whenever I once again become unfortunate and end up back in that world.

Honestly, I am a little freaked out and hesitant to think about my next time in that forest.

Earlier, there was a huge part of me that couldn't wait to start exploring it. Now? That huge part wants nothing to do with it.

I realize that every moment of my life that I spend in that forest, is a moment I use to contradict my beliefs and goals in life.

I can't do this anymore. That world?... It's too dangerous for me to venture into.

I have to put a stop to it. My life right now is going great. I am achieving my dream of living a fulfilling life, one that my mother would be proud of.

My mind was already made up. To honour my mother's wish, I would leave that world behind, along with anything that might incite violent actions from me.

"Thank you, aunt". I said as I laid my head comfortably on the bus seat.

If it wasn't for my aunt, I wouldn't have realized how I was going against my moral code of conduct.

Now, I have to go about finding a way to stay true to my resolve. That involves the understanding of the rules behind my transportation to the other world.

I am still in the dark as to what the mechanism behind my commutation to the other world is. The conditions that need to be fulfilled to trigger the event.

Once I know that, I will have a firm hold on my standing, and an upper hand in maintaining my curriculum.

I have a firm assumption that the condition has to do with me being unconscious.

Said assumption is derived from the events that have transpired so far.

Every action I had taken that led to me ending up in the forest or being back here, all had to do with my body being in a sleeping state.

"Hmm...". I muttered as soon as I remembered that there was one such event that did not require me to be in an unconscious state.

The last time it happened, I was awake and in a conversation with the green female creature when suddenly my consciousness was reversed back to this world.

That was when I woke up to the sound of wails from my aunt's room.

Maybe not every condition requires me to be unconscious.

Or... It requires just a part of me to be unconscious. I mean either my consciousness on Earth or the one in Erenoa.

The condition for a consciousness exchange might be linked to one of the said versions of me being asleep.

If one is asleep, then the condition will be met.

This is still just an assumption so I can't say for certain how valid it is.

"Sigh...".

I can only do this on my own. Even if I decide to seek out the help of that voice, there is no chance it would be willing to help me.

And I also can't just rely on the book for information. I haven't even gotten halfway yet and so far, the information I have acquired is only about the first Oduduwa's transmigration to this world, along with the sorcery system of the world of Erenoa.

How long and how far ahead I have to read before I can acquire the knowledge I desire is a question I keep asking.

"Well, whatever. It has nothing to do with me anymore".

For now, I am deciding to not think about anything relating to Erenoa.

Maybe if I just resume my daily activities like nothing ever happened, then everything will return to normal.

And if it doesn't?... I will have to find another way, to make my severed connection to that world permanent.

The ride back home was just as hectic as the one that led to my aunt's place.

I got home and took a quick shower. After that, I collapsed my body on my bed and dozed off.

I have had one hell of a hectic day and even if my body is not physically exhausted, my mentality is.

As I promised, the days after I renewed my resolve went as normal as things could get.

As I believed, so it was. A week passed and not once did I get summoned to the other world.

My typical normal day returned to the way it was supposed to be. Things went back to being simple.

• KNOCK!! KNOCK!! KNOCK!! *

It was on a Sunday morning when I got a lucky day off from my boss Mister Ripper.

I was in my house doing the one thing I always did whenever I got days like this.

Absolutely nothing!

It was then that a knock was heard behind the closed door.

I got up from my couch and went to the door, questioning in my mind who could be behind the door.

Except for my aunt, I have never had a visitor before, and I don't think my aunt would want to come with the way things were left heated.

I opened the door and was left bewildered when I saw two cops in their official black uniform standing at my doorstep.

"Are you Raul Greyson!". Questioned the officer closest to me.

"Yes I am. Can I help you". I inquired, with a stutter.

"It is with great sadness to inform you that your aunt Linda is dead".

"What!!".
