Sylvia was disturbed after her encounter with Corbin in the kitchen. He refused to even glance her way while her eyes desperately wished for his to lock with them.
In the evening, the sun set behind the horizon earlier than Sylvia thought, and the darkness began to befall on the town of Broughton.
Lincoln was supposed to meet his friends in the local bar to enjoy some beer while discussing the harvest and the taxes they had to pay to the Lord. So he accompanied Lina to her home as he and Selma didn't want anyone to trouble the young woman on her way home.
Sylvia picked up her bag and was ready to leave, but Selma asked Corbin to drop her at home. She couldn't leave Sylvia alone when the woman had to go out of town.
Corbin tried making excuses, but in the end, he had to admit defeat in front of his aunt.
Minutes later, Sylvia and Corbin found themselves walking side by side on the familiar route and in the familiar tense silence.
"Corbin?"
