Sylvia searched Corbin's face. She recalled that day. She was scared of his anger. At that moment, he didn't look like anything she knew.
But was she angry at him?
Perhaps.
And did she understand him?
Maybe not, but she was ready to try.
Misunderstanding her silence, Corbin stepped forward, decreasing the distance between them to only a few inches.
His light blue eyes pierced through her soul, finding a new depth that she was not even aware of having within her.
"Sylvia, there are a few things about me that... I... I am not comfortable sharing with anyone. It's not about you. Trust me, it's not!
It was wrong of me to accuse you like that. I had no right to be so rude to you, but... I thought... I... maybe..."
"Shhhh..." Sylvia placed her finger on Corbin's lips as she matched his intent gaze without holding any guards.
