Chapter 17 - Chapter Sixteen

Night Out And Enjoying Life

"Why do you have to ring at midnight?", I was irritated and picked up my phone. My anger fades away seeing 'Shravan' in the caller name. I picked up the call. "Shravan? You called at this time? Is everything alright?", I ask in concern. "Everything is awesome", he says excitedly.

"Come to your balcony", he says and I shake my head confused. I get up and wear my slippers. I open the door towards the balcony and step outside. "Shravan", I say shocked. He's on his bike waving at me with a smile.

"What are you doing here?", I ask. "I am here to get you for a night out", he replies cheerfully. I look at him amused. "Shravan...this is against my discipline. I can't leave my house and my parents will definitely not allow for this", I say calmly hoping he would understand.

"I know. I promise it will be fun. Please...just for once", he requests me. "See...if you don't come, I will keep standing here", he says stubbornly. "No. Please Shravan. I am coming...", he cuts me off. "I am kidding, Suman. I would never force you into something but please just trust me. If you didn't like it, I will not ask you again", he says. I sigh and think about it.

"I am coming", I say and he grins. I quickly change my clothes and wear my shoes. I pin my hair and silently go down. I sneak out of my house and smile at him. I settled down on my bike. He gives me a helmet and I wear it. We both remove the glass that covers our faces. "Where are we going?", I ask him. "Just roaming in the city. Enjoy the breeze", he says.

Bhopal is a beautiful city. I close my eyes feeling the cold breeze touching my face. It's beautiful! "Do you come regularly with your friends?", I ask him. "Yes. Even today...I made an excuse for not coming and came to you", he says to me. "Why? I could have joined the group. They are my friends too", I say to him, frowning.

"I just wanted to spend some time alone with you", he tells me. I smile while listening to it. He slows down the bike all of a sudden and I hold his shoulders in an instant. He looks at me in the rear view mirror. "Sorry", I say, removing my hands.

"Keep holding me", he says. I feel my cheeks warming up as he gazes at me intently but then he averts his gaze on the road. I sigh and look around. We hear horns and see some bikes surrounding us. "Shravan...", I say, getting scared. "They are just bike racers. Don't worry. They'll pass us', he says, assuring me.

But they don't...

"Hey", a biker shouts. "What about a bike race?", he screams and asks. Shravan glances at me and looks back at them. "No", Shravan shouts at him and tries to go forward but these bikers don't let us much to our frustration. "Why? Scared? Lookers!", the biker shouts. What is his problem?

"I am not a loser. Just not in the mood. Why can't you leave us alone?", Shravan shouts back angrily. Nobody likes being called a loser. They are intentionally manipulating Shravan into this dangerous game. "Because you have a girl? Lover boy", the boy says and laughs. I feel furious. "Shravan. We both are wearing helmets. Let's do this'', I say. "No. I have brought you out and your safety is my responsibility. I am not taking it for granted", he says.

"Nothing is going to happen. Let's just do it", I say sternly. "Stop calling him a loser. We are participating", I say confidently. Shravan glances at me worriedly but I assure him. He pulls down the glass to cover his face so that sand particles don't go in his eyes. "If you are comfortable, wrap your arms around me and hold me firmly", he instructed. I wrap my arms around him and feel an electric rush but chuck it off.

I look in the rear view mirror. He's already looking at me. We both get into an eye lock but that biker interrupts us by the horn. Shravan looks at the road and I look sideways feeling nervous. They explain to us what the rules are. And, we start the race. I feel like a feather in front of the bike speed. We are literally flying. Shravan is a pro in this. He manages to stay along with them and not let them go forward. It's a disastrous mess for a while.

None of them let each other go forward and this gives a headache. I feel my heart beating faster. What if someone among these bikers wins? Shravan increases the speed and with a zoom...he manages to leave three of them behind. "Oh my...", I whisper now, getting both nervous and excited at the same time. Shravan is totally focused on winning the race.

My hold is tight but I am making sure I don't suffocate him. He leaves two more bikers behind and now two are in front of us. I see Shravan tightly gripping the handles and his head bending a bit. He looks so attractive right now. What am I even thinking? He manages to leave those two, also making me grin. But the end point is still at a distance. The biker on our right side comes forward to overtake us and my smile drops.

Shravan is going forward on extreme levels and he finally passes the end point as I let out a cheerful scream. "Yes!", we both said grinning and the bikers came towards us. "Great skills, Bro", the biker says and Shravan and I grin at each other. "Until next time...", the biker says further and Shravan fist bumps with them and they go.

"I have to tell you something", Shravan says, looking serious.
