Chapter 23 - Discovery of a new hell

Nexus Of The Planet

South Path

The promenade was quite endless ironically, it looks like walking down a maze but for a lady who hasn't stroll out enough, Catherine really loved it. She walked with so much novelty and enthusiasm that showed in her face willingly, her face was smiling in the thickness of the forest.

The forest was heavy with tall trees, trees with no branches to jump to or jump from. Bushes dominated the ground, weeds and legumes terrorized the surface of the earth so heavily not even a grain of sand could be seen but they could hear as their boots crushed dry sands beneath. The forest was dark, not too dark but dark enough for the day to be considered noon. The leaves and expansion of trees shadowed the sun's reflections from touching the ground keeping the forest cool and calm with gentle breeze blowing in and out diligently.

It was a heavenly experience for Catherine, the wind was gentle, sometimes harsh but she could adapt to the changes without difficulties. She looked at Bella's face but it was tough, her face was emotionless and inexpressible.

Bella on the other hand wasn't thinking about her, she was straight as a line. Although, her serenity was more than expected and it became observable on her face. She was indeed disturbed, so disturbed to be precise. She couldn't bare the look on Catherine's face, the little human vampire had everything she wanted while she's nothing but a beast. She has been alone her entire life and now, after finally finding who she really cares about without the thought of feeding on him, Catherine came in. She took him from her.

"Are you okay?" Catherine's voice crept into her ears. She noticed the sudden changes on Bella's face, her eyes suddenly turned black and her face whitened.

Bella didn't notice this, the anger within her was at work but after hearing Catherine's voice, she rehearsed natural. She looked at her smiling and her features changed.

Catherine wasn't buying her fake face, she knew something was bothering Bella's mind but couldn't tell what it was. She just peeped at her as they walked down the forest still trying to help her pour her mind out but nothing came from Bella. Nothing except fake smiles.

"You know you can drop the act Bella, what's actually wrong?" Catherine stopped and asked her rigidly.

Bella was forced to look at her face, she faked her smile again but it wasn't deceptive enough. Catherine could read briefly through her face like reading through pages, Bella was as open as a book to her been a woman of her age or perhaps above a little.

"Tell me, want's happening?" Catherine asked now calmly and softly.

Bella wanted to lash at her, scream at her face and even rip her head off but she couldn't do anything. She just looked at her with a fake sad face. Luckily, Catherine bought her new false identity.

"I just feel lonely!" Bella said.

Catherine went soft, she's an expert in her experience but she felt cool after meeting Clancy "It's okay, but you aren't alone anymore. You've us!" She encouraged.

Bella scoffed with a real smile. Catherine was right, she wasn't alone but felt alone. Perhaps, she hasn't been real to herself. Maybe, she has been hiding who she actually was from herself.

"You can rely on that, we have your back and you have ours." Catherine smiled.

Bella nodded slowly positively and continued their journey, it was peaceful for her but not entirely. She felt secretive for that very dark moment with Catherine, an instinct within her was dark and gloomy. A darkness she seems identical and familiar with, she's not a prey of herself, she's the predator.

"Wanted to ask though!" Bella finally spoke out of morale, it was like something just arouse her to ask and Catherine listened humming lyrically "What really did you think of Clancy?" She asked.

Catherine scoffed heavily, she wasn't expecting such question and it hit her like a truck unknowingly. Her scoff eventually and slowly turn into a weak laughter, a short guffaw to be specific.

"C'mon, what's so funny?" Bella asked out of curiosity.

Catherine cleared her mind and breath out silently "I'm sorry but that question was hot!" She smiled.

Bella gleaned a smile peeking at her face a little "C'mon, what did you think of him?" She asked again.

Catherine hummed in climes of thoughts "If I'm to decide, I'd say he's authoritative, a little bit harsh, handsome and lovely!" She said pleasured by her imaginative thoughts.

Bella could see the symbolism on her face, she felt happy for her but an aspect of her wanted her to suffer for that very moment. She felt like choking her but she just smiled it all away.

"So...." her voice trialled off, she muttered looking at Catherine's face awaiting the right answer "Did you like him?" She finally asked.

Catherine scoffed heartedly "Oh, wow!" She sighed.

Bella felt she has gone far with her questions and she stammered, it was unlike of her. She was a rogue, uncontrolled, adamant beast until she met Clancy. She felt tamed and caged by him, she could do anything for him, even if it's turning against everything and everyone.

"No, no, it's okay!" Catherine responded "Like? I don't like him." She answered and Bella felt relieved "I love him, has always loved him and will always love him." Catherine added which caught Bella astound.

Bella stopped, looked at her face almost angrily. Her nature grumbled over her for that bashful moment, she felt the weight of her fury weighting her down and her fingernails turned into razor sharp claws. She could pounce on her any minute, she could attack like a wild animal in the forest, her instinct triggered like a wild fire burning with no end but at the brisk of lashing, a voice came in that halted her and her nature elapsed.

Catherine never noticed Bella's reactions towards her, she just kept illustrating how she fell in love with Clancy until she heard Scott's voice along Amelia. To be sincere, the duo were surprised to see them.

"I thought we were going west?" Scott asked Amelia on sighting Catherine and Bella.

Amelia nodded and hummed positively dumbstrucked "Obviously but how did we?" She asked but no one answered her. She noticed the look on Bella's face, it was harsh and dark. Exactly what she saw when she first confronted her "What's wrong Bella?" She asked.

Bella looked at Amelia's face without uttering a word, she just nodded slightly positive but changed the topic rapidly "If you guys are here, then where are the others?" She asked.

Scott's mind went rampage, his mind immediately flashed back to what William told him earlier with the bishop. Perhaps something back has happened to the bishop, he was obviously concerned and with drastic speed that tore the wind asunder, he ran.

"What the?" Catherine muttered confused.

Amelia rushed out "Where the hell are you going?" She asked but Scott was long gone.

"We've to find them!" Was what came out of Catherine's mouth as she sped away disturbing the wind sharply like an arrow. Out of anger, Bella tagged while Amelia tossed herself into the air like a kite.

North Path

"Lord God, I pray for Your protection as I begin this day. You are my hiding place, and under Your wings I can always find refuge. Protect me from trouble wherever I go, and keep evil far from me." Were the smooth prayers that came out of Bishop Daimon's mouth. He never stopped praying as they moved deep into the forest.

As they moved closer, his senses shivered unlike Clancy who was serene about the journey. The bishop could sense the absolute impurity of evil around the forest, on first arrive on the island, he hardly felt anything but as they dug deep into the island, he started feeling some abnormalities. It was so great Bishop Daimon prayed in fear, he wasn't sure if it was as William had said. His senses was telling him it was something else, something different from William's explanation.

Clancy doesn't know why he was praying but his mind followed in suit, he wanted to behave adamant but deep down, he was scared. For a being to be referred to as the ancient evil, such impurity must be primordial and unwatchable.

"Are we there yet?" Clancy asked the bishop but there was no reaction.

They walked deep into the very dept of the forest until suddenly, they hesitated. Bishop Daimon stopped their movement immediately he senses something, more like a sensation distinct. It was before them but what they could see was endless bushes and trees. It was beyond that and he knew that but Clancy wasn't paying attention, he indeed was but an instinct of him suddenly pillaged his foot forward and like an erasure, he vanished.

He never actually vanished and Bishop Daimon was calm about that because after he vanished he could still hear his screams. He stretched forth his right arm feeling the surface of the air, observing how realistic barrier separated the island from another world entirely. Dipping his arm into invisible barrier, he felt a hot sensation. It didn't hurt his skin but his soul definitely. It was an adaptable pain but remorselessly muttering his last prayer, he walked forward and with a little twinkle, he vanished.

Walls Of Sins

Appearing, it felt like peeling oneself from actuality into another reality. The first realistic travel Bishop Daimon has ever experienced but that wasn't all. Immediately he stepped out of the island atmosphere, a sudden hotness bellowed upon him and his soul sweat. Before him was Clancy, awed by what stood before him. He never saw it at first but after calling the latter incessantly without answer, the bishop looked forward and his soul screamed. He couldn't decide if it was in pain or in success of their journey.

"Good God!" Was what came out of his opened lips.

Before them were seven tall flat walls with nothing supporting their stands, they were ancient and Bishop Daimon could tell by the inscriptions on their surfaces. They were so tall they felt like mountains to man.

With another gaze of disbelief, Bishop Daimon called again "Good Lord!"
