Chapter 3 - The Mysterious Men

It wasn't until five minutes after Giavanna lost consciousness that a car screeched to a halt about ten steps away from where she laid.

"Wait…," the guy in a white jacket hurried out of the car and raced towards Giavanna like a jaguar before his partner could stop him.

When he got to where the unconscious lady laid, he squatted, lifted her off the floor and made her lean on his body.

"Wake up, Miss," He called and tapped her face repeatedly.

As he squatted, he paid no attention to the rain pouring down in its might once again or the cold breeze that sent chills down to the spine.

All that was on his mind was to make the lady in his arms regain consciousness.

"Why did you get out of the car without an umbrella?" The 6ft 1.6in guy retorted, his tone cold like the chilly winter's wind.

"Don't you know you are gonna fall sick getting soaked…,"

"Bro, I don't know what is wrong with her," He muttered. Fear could be sensed in his voice as he hugged her tighter.

"She won't wake up… come and check what is wrong with her," He begged and urged the guy in black jacket to walk faster.

"Take this," He ordered and shoved the blue umbrella into his right hand.

"Don't come crying to me when you fall sick," He hissed, pretending not to care about the guy in white jacket.

Afterwards he shifted his gaze to the lady whose face was covered with her long brown hair.

He was still examining her body when suddenly his eyes widened like someone who had seen a ghost.

"Bro what is…," He bent and pulled down her right collar before the other guy could complete his sentence.

"Fuck! She has been bitten," He declared and let go of her collar. He returned to his standing position.

"S-s-he is what?" The white jacket guy's eyes bulged and his jaw dropped. The other guy's words rang in this head like an alarm.

"Now that she is bitten I must get rid of her before she endangers the lives of innocent people…,"

"By getting rid of her you are not perhaps referring to killing her right?" The white jacket guy snapped.

"What do you think?" He retorted, his face deprived of any emotions.

He bent and removed a dagger from his knee sheath.

Without hesitation he raised the glittering dagger, his aim obviously the unconscious lady's heart.

"It's her bad luck for roaming the street at such a deadly hour," He mumbled and raised his dagger.

The guy who was ready to kill Giavanna retracted his weapon at the last minute the moment the white jacket guy shielded her with his body.

"Are you crazy?" He growled, his deadly glares fired at the guy whose body was still firmly wrapped around Giavanna's body.

He let go of her when he had confirmed that she was safe at the moment.

"Bro, you know how I felt about her all these years so how could you want to kill her…,"

"Hey!" He yelled.

"Open your eyes ok because that lady right there is not the same lady you knew," He declared, his index finger pointedd to Giavanna's face.

"She is gonna become a headache later on if I don't get rid of her so don't you dare pull that stunt you did earlier, understood?" He berated and raised his dagger once again.

"Bro, please let her live," He pleaded. He reached out his right and held the left leg of the cold guy.

"I am begging you hmm," He kept on begging.

"Get your act together brat or I am gonna…,"

"If you are afraid of she going rampant and killing people you don't have to be because as at this moment I will be responsible for her…,"

"Look at you talking about being responsible for another person when you haven't being responsible for yourself first," He sneered.

Before the guy in white jacket could fathom his next move the furious guy grabbed him by the collar, pulled him up and pushed him far away from where she laid.

"I can't afford to take any risk just because of the fleeting feelings you have for her," He retorted.

He squatted beside her with his dagger in his hand, ready to do the needful.

"I am on my knees bro," The white jacket guy shouted and fell on his knees.

"As my elder brother, consider this the first favour you do to your little brother and spare her life!!" He pleaded, his palms rubbed continuously in desperation.

"You are so impossible," He grunted and refused to drop his dagger. He pinched the space between his brows feeling a headache on its way because of his little brother.

"Bro, it won't be too late to kill her if I fail to keep her under control so please just let her live," He begged some more with hopes that the sincerity in his pleas will melt his brother's cold heart.

The guy in the brown jacket gave a long and meaningful stare to the guy who was still on his knees and then moved his attention to the lady, who laid on the dirty puddles in front of him.

"You must have saved an entire universe in your past life. I guess that's why you are being rewarded tonight," He mumbled and lowered his dagger to his side.

"Thank you…,"

"There is no need to thank me because the day you fail to keep your words is the day she will die by my hands," He declared and moved away from the unconscious lady.
