Chapter 17 - XVII

"We might have to find a cottage on the way" Elias said as Logan and Abelia made their way to them

"The rain right?" Logan asked and Elias nodded his head

Arthur was confused, in fact, confused was an understatement.

He thought of everything that had happened since he, his Alpha and Elias left their pack and he still couldn't pinpoint where Logan could've met a rogue, talk less of bringing her along with him when he walked out of the bush

He had pondered hard on why Logan could've needed a shortcut or even a way of getting around Alpha Lucas's pack but it never for one crossed his mind that it could be because he wanted to go pick up a rogue

"The rogue" was all he could say,

He needed an explanation

Rogues equals danger and he hates danger, especially when it's related to the one person he's supposed to be protecting

"Oh yes, the rogue" Logan said as he thought of an excuse he could give Arthur

He knew he should've thought of an excuse but he didn't have enough time to do that, not when all he could think of was the rogue in question

The disdain in Arthur's voice didn't sit well with Abelia and Maya though and even though they understood why he talked like that, they still didn't like it

'We won't like him' Maya said and Abelia nodded in solemn agreement

"Arthur, Elias" Logan said, making hand gestures to the two men so Abelia would know who is who "meet Abelia" he said pointing to Abelia

"Nice to meet you" Abelia said to Elias only, not even sparing Arthur a look

Arthur noticed but didn't say a word about it, all he wanted to know is why a wolf with a foul scent is mixing with them on the journey

Elias also had questions, but he can't ask because he is just a warrior wolf, one of the best, but that doesn't qualify him to ask questions.

He could guess what was going on though , and his instincts doesn't always lie so he wasn't sure if it's what he thinks it is

"And she's a rogue" Arthur said in a tone that says, explain yourself Alpha

Yes, he isn't also supposed to question his Alpha's every move but they have a relationship which goes more than their duty, they are also in a way, friends.

Also, he's the one that followed him on this trip, so he's the one that's going to be questioned if pack members see them ride in with a rogue in tow

"Is she joining our pack?" Arthur asked before Logan excused them both from the group with his hands on Arthur's shoulders, pusing in to a secluded place

When he was sure they were out of earshot, he faced him

"Arthur, if I can, I would've done this without you knowing, but I know I can't because I need you to make the story believable" Logan said and Arthur got confused but he listened nevertheless

"Okay?" he said with his eyebrows up, waiting for Logan to continue his story

"I need her to join our pack, but it's not for too long, she'll leave soon, I promise" Logan said, hoping his Delta wouldn't probe him for more information

He wishes to keep the fact that she's his mate to himself and only himself

"Wait a moment" Arthur said "are you trying to protect her from Alpha Lucas's pack warrior?" he asked as he thought about the rogue scent Elias was telling him about and how there was a rogue attack in the pack and minutes later, his Alpha came back from the woods with a rogue scent

"Well..." Logan said, unsure of where the sorry might end if he hopped on Arthur's narrative

"Why are you trying to protect her? She is a rogue and she stole, causing distress to a pack, almost causing trouble for you too" Arthur reasoned, hoping his Alpha will reason with him

"Arthur" Logan said as he thought of how to make his narrative even better

"If we should be doing anything, it is giving her to Alpha Lucas" Arthur concluded with an expression that told Logan he's done giving him ideas

"That won't make any sense, I already said I didn't come across a rogue and he already believed me" Logan responded with a heavy sigh

"Okay this is what happened" Logan started and Arthur stared at him, giving Logan his attention

"I did come across her when I took that walk and I know I should've brought her back and give her to Lucas but she begged me not to"

"And you listened," Arthur interrupted, slightly annoying Logan and before he could speak up again, Arthur continued"since when do you listen to pleas?" Arthur asked with a stern look and Logan decided to let his rude interruption slide because of their situation

"I listened for my own gain Arthur, she has good war skills, she'll be a good addition to the warriors"

"I thought you said she's only staying for a while?" Arthur asked, shocked Logan was talking as if she's going to stay forever

"Well, we'll use her till we take over Drago's pack" Logan said, stress evident in his voice

Arthur had a lot of questions, he had a lot of ideas in his head because he knew Logan was acting out of character but he decided to let it slide, for now

He decided that he'll probe him when they get to their pack and they are all settled

"Well, we have to get going now, the rain is close" Arthur said looking to the sky and Arthur followed his movement

The sky was already littered with dark clouds and the sun was getting covered with them

Logan didn't bother saying a word after that, he just followed Arthur till they got to where Elias and Abelia were standing, a little bit far from each other

The awkwardness in the air, heavy enough to touch

"Do you think we can find a cottage before this rain falls?" Logan asked no one in particular

"Let's hope so" Elias said as he mount his horse, Arthur doing the same and then Logan looked to Abelia before realizing he forgot to ask her a very important question

"Can you ride a horse" he asked and Abelia looked at him, trying to hide her embarrassment, one she doesn't know why she felt it, but it was there nevertheless

"No" she said and Logan shook his head

'What did I expect?' he asked himself, even though he wished he was wrong

"But you can mount" he said, hoping to be right but Abelia shook her head

"Then I guess our journey is going to be a long one" Arthur stated as he shook his head in annoyance
