Chapter 23 - Embracing The New Skill

Instructor Kim clapped his hands, bringing the chatter to a halt.

"Alright, enough chit-chat, yaggity yag," he exclaimed with a playful grin.

"Now let's get down to business and begin your training."

The room filled with a mix of anticipation and nervous energy as the trainees straightened up in their seats, ready to absorb every bit of knowledge imparted to them.

"In this academy, we have a team of six highly skilled trainers," Instructor Kim announced, gesturing towards the instructors standing beside him.

"Allow me to introduce your mentors. This is Trainer Lee Joon-Ho," he pointed to a tall, stern-looking man with a reputation for discipline.

"He will guide you in mastering the basics of your chosen weapon and help you develop your combat skills." instructor Mr. Kim then continued.

The trainees' eyes darted toward Trainer Lee Joon-Ho, noting his firm stance and the air of authority he exuded. They knew that under his guidance, their fighting skills would be honed to perfection.

"In addition," Instructor Kim continued, "we have Trainer Park Min-Ji." He gestured towards a confident, agile woman with a glimmer of mischief in her eyes.

"Trainer Park specializes in teaching you how to control and manipulate your mana effectively, unleashing the true potential of your awakened powers."

The trainees exchanged intrigued glances, their curiosity piqued by the mention of Trainer Park's expertise in mana control. They knew that mastering the delicate art of mana manipulation was crucial for unleashing the full extent of their abilities.

Instructor Kim clapped his hands once more, commanding everyone's attention.

"Throughout your training, you will rotate between our trainers, learning the fundamentals of your chosen weapon from Trainer Lee Joon-Ho and discovering the secrets of mana control from Trainer Park Min-Ji. Together, they will ensure that you receive a well-rounded education in both combat and mana manipulation."

A trainee named Ji-Su raised her hand, her voice laced with excitement.

"Instructor Kim, how long will this training phase last?"

Instructor Kim smiled warmly at Ji-Su's eagerness.

"Great question, Ji-Su. The training phase will last for four months. During this time, you will undergo intensive physical training, combat simulations, and practice sessions to enhance your skills."

"Now," Instructor Kim concluded, "let the training begin!

Follow your assigned trainers to your designated practice areas. Embrace the challenges, push your limits, and unlock the true potential within you. This is just the beginning of your extraordinary path as dungeon hunters.

Hee-Joon entered the dedicated training room, finding Instructor Lee Joon-Ho already present at his desk, meticulously inspecting a gleaming sword. As the rest of the trainees gathered around, their eyes fixed on the weapon, anticipation filled the air.

With a nod of acknowledgment, Instructor Lee Joon-Ho addressed the group, his voice resonating with authority.

"Welcome, everyone. Today, we will begin by familiarizing ourselves with the basic attack techniques using a sword. Keep in mind that the principles I demonstrate can be applied to various weapons of your choosing."

He firmly gripped the hilt of the sword, his movements fluid and precise. With each swing, he showcased a series of fundamental strikes, punctuated by the resounding clash of metal meeting metal. The trainees watched attentively, their gazes focused on every subtle movement.

"In combat, efficiency is key," Instructor Lee Joon-Ho explained, his voice steady and confident.

"The first technique I will demonstrate is the downward diagonal strike. This move allows you to deliver a powerful blow aimed at the opponent's torso, maximizing the force behind each swing.

He raised the sword above his head, his muscles tensing with controlled energy. In one swift motion, he brought the blade down diagonally, the sound of the air slicing apart filling the room. The trainees observed, absorbing the mechanics of the strike.

"Now, let's move on to the horizontal slash," Instructor Lee Joon-Ho continued, adjusting his grip on the sword.

He demonstrated a sweeping motion, cutting through the imaginary opponent's defenses with precision.

"This technique is effective for attacking multiple targets or aiming at an opponent's vulnerable sides. Remember to maintain a balanced stance and follow through with the full range of motion."

Instructor Lee Joon-Ho then demonstrated a thrusting attack, showcasing the importance of speed and accuracy in targeting specific points.

"The thrust is a versatile technique that allows for precise strikes, especially when targeting an opponent's weak spots or vital areas. Focus on the extension of your arm and the alignment of your body to maximize the impact."

As the demonstration concluded, Instructor Lee Joon-Ho turned to address the trainees directly.

"Now, it's your turn. Pair up with a partner and practice these basic sword techniques. Observe each other's form, provide constructive feedback, and strive for improvement. Remember, repetition and dedication are key to mastering any skill." The instructor then concluded his demonstration.

Hee-Joon partnered with another trainee, Yuna, and they began practicing the downward diagonal strikes, horizontal slashes, and thrusts under Instructor Lee Joon-Ho's watchful eye. The room was filled with the rhythmic clashing of swords, punctuated by occasional words of guidance and encouragement from the instructor.

As Hee-Joon and Yuna paired up to practice the sword techniques, Yuna, a tall and agile trainee, gripped his slender rapier with confidence. The room buzzed with anticipation as the trainees engaged in their training duels.

Hee-Joon lunged forward, aiming for a downward diagonal strike. Yuna swiftly reacted, meeting his blade with a resounding clash.

As Hee-Joon and Yuna started practicing sword techniques, their blades suddenly clashed with a loud bang.

"Heok," Hee-Joon adjusted himself and attempted a horizontal slash.

Clang! Yuna skillfully blocked his attack, her movements precise and swift.

With their attacks getting blocked, Hee-Joon decided to unleash both blades.

Clang! The first blade from his right hand was blocked by Yuna, As the blade was blocked, Hee-Joon smirked and used the second blade.

Bam! Hee-Joon swiftly attacked Yuna's torso with his second blade, eliciting a grahhh noise.

The sound echoed through the training grounds, signifying the end of their combat training.

As the blades connected with Yuna's torso, a look of astonishment swept across his face. The instructor, witnessing the swift and decisive strike, immediately declared Hee-Joon as the victor of the combat training.
