Everything felt fuzzy as I opened my eyes. They felt heavy and burdensome just like the rest of my body. As I looked around with my hazy vision I was met by a bunch of wires and tubes. An IV was in one arm as a blood transfusion was taking place in another. Looking down I was covered in bandages and casts that created an itchy sensation. Each movement felt difficult but I needed to move. I wasn't sure how long I was out but I wanted to leave.
I heard the door open as I was about to force myself to get up. Looking over I was met by someone I didn't know in medical garbs with a clipboard writing down something.
Hello. I'm awake can you tell me how long I have been out for?
Instantly they dropped their clipboard like they had seen a reanimated corpse before leaving the room hastily.
I was then met by a small group of medical staff alongside my homeroom teacher. Some looked at me weirdly while others looked nervous. cough cough my homeroom teacher.
Can one of you tell me how long I have been out for? I was more frustrated than anything else since no one was answering my questions.
You have been in a medically induced coma for a week while your body has been healing. Do you remember why you are here in the first place?
"Clear as day. We were being assessed on our combat skills before I was kicked into a wall before I fired off a spell and passed out."
"It was more... serious than that although it is mostly the same as your response. We need to run a couple more tests and keep you for another week before we can release you. "
"A week of doing nothing. Sure. sure. Anyways can I talk to my teacher in private please? "
Although they didn't seem too happy about me ordering them around they still complied as we were left in an awkward silence.
She was fidgeting to a degree that couldn't be comfortable, she was obviously distressed after our spar and it must have been chipping away at her ever since.
"I've heard that I have been out for a few weeks? What about the work and classes? Do I have to make them up and what about my position in S class? "
"I have dealt with both of them. Unfortunately you have missed out on a majority of the main classes and a few tests that were set up. This has led to you being dropped from S class down to A class.
I am ever so sorry. I never meant for you to get hurt! I have ruined your chances as a member of the academy to the point where you may not be able to recover. Please forgive me."
An evident frown was on my face as I thought over how my plans had been ruined. The academy had forsaken my progress and demoted me for something that was not my fault! I was betting on the materials and residence for my experiments and magic spells.
I'm so sorry. I can't do much to get you back into a class however I am willing to sponsor you throughout your time in the academy.
She willing? She's WILLING!? She is making it sound like it is an honour,That it has nothing to do with her, it's her fault that I am in this predicament in the first place!!! My blood ran cold as my anger filled me. I couldn't care less at the moment.
Looking at her I held back my anger as much as possible, a deep sense of loathing filled my heart as I noticed that every person was the same. Greedy beings that care very little for others.
"I want similar treatment to those in S class whether it be housing, resources or knowledge. And what has happened to the building that was my home?"
"The headmaster had repossessed the house and moved out the items that are yours and put them into storage, as for your terms they will be met but afterwards I won't be able to speak to you freely"
I sat there dumbfounded at the change in personality she had shown from the first day. She was the one who put me in this position yet it was if it was my fault and she barely cared. My anger seethed as I broke the casts and pulled out the tubes and wires from my body. Standing up I felt unbalanced as I struggled to plant my feet on the ground properly.
Stumbling over to a mirror I looked at my reflection. My body was the same as it usually was with no marks of the previous battle, My body actually felt slightly stronger than it had previously. Although I had apparently been in bed for weeks my long grey hair wasn't greasy and my body barely smelt bad, however the first thing in my list was to have a shower.
A bunch of nurses barged into my room in panic however upon spotting me they were unsure of what to do. I guess it was weird for someone who was meant to be on bed rest to break all his casts off and look at himself in the mirror. I just looked at them with boredom before leaving the infirmary to head to the head master's office. I needed my stuff along with the keys to my new home.
I kept getting stares but I had no choice after all I had no clothes on me and I couldn't use my main clothes as it would draw suspicion. Upon reaching the head master's office I was met by a receptionist who just stared at me like I was some zoo animal. I'm a conscious being too! I dislike all these looks why not just treat me like a normal person?
"Do you have an appointment with the headmaster?"
"No"
"Then I'm sorry sir you can't enter the headmaster is very busy at the moment."
"He should know who I am and why I am here."
"Let him in Tegan we need to have a discussion anyways."
