It was finally time for us to receive our results, They were posted in the room that we took our written exam in so it was no trouble finding them. It was a mess trying to find your name out of 4,000 students but since I had confidence that I would be near the top I only needed to look at the distinctly different leaderboards that were framed by a wood border.
It seems that I came in 23rd place. An acceptable discrepancy in what I thought my rank would be and it wouldn't bring too much attention either unlike those in the top 10. Looking through the list I wasn't too interested in who they were but I kept their names in mind. The top 5 had long and elaborate names so they were probably nobles of some kind. I wonder if there are royals in the academy and if they are the top scorers?
It made no difference as long as they didn't mess with me then we wouldn't see much of each other anyways, I'm sure they would be curious at the start but after our positions are locked in we shouldn't interact with each other.
Luckily there was no assembly where the headmaster would talk for hours on end there was just a short welcome that would be done by the honour students who are at the top. How do I know this, it's public information that is available to anybody as long as you ask.
I sat down on what was basically a collapsible chair, it wasn't the comfiest but I wouldn't be here for long so it wouldn't be too bad.
"Welcome students, before we give you access to your accommodation we have a short speech that will be presented by the honour students of the first year. After that you will be given a letter with the address and key inside. Without any further adieu the number one student:
Princess Keira Whyte!"
"Thank you head master, As I stand here I hope to bring all races closer together, my only wish is for us to prosper and lead as head members of our races so that we may prosper. However not all is easy in academy life as seen by the trials we have already taken and it has proved to be a treacherous path. I'm sure there will be some conflict however I believe that we can overcome and excel at our roles as the golden generation. Thank you for listening."
What a naive child. Relations no matter how it looks are strained between each race and I doubt the academy was set up like this without an ulterior motive. That last sentence was different from the rest, she put more emphasis on our roles, but our roles in what? They know something that we do not and I don't like the feeling I'm getting from it. Could it be the demons or is there a war coming? I may be over exaggerating what she means but my senses tell me otherwise. How problematic.
"Ok students classes will start tomorrow so learn the routes to your classes and to your new accommodations for there will be punishments for those who are late...no exceptions."
The head master disappeared and a letter was placed in each of our laps instantaneously. It was meticulous use of space magic however it was dwarfed in comparison to what I could do as long as my mana allowed me to perform the spells. Still at the moment I would not like to go against him. I would be dead before I could even move.
Opening the letter I was met with the address of the home I would live in as a member of the 25 highest graded students along with a timetable and what was similar to a key card with a specific mana signature to unlock the house. There was a stone tablet inside that was decently heavy. This told people their status along with information from the academy however it was rudimentary and it was very inefficient and expensive, I would have to create a better version of it once everything was in place.
Standing up I immediately left before anyone else as I wanted to settle in and finally create my equipment. Walking through the unknown hallways I found a map with the basic layout of the academy. It was closer to a maze with branching paths but everything was meticulously planned with wings for different subjects and classes. The exit was nearby so it didn't take very long for me to find my way out along with finding my new residence.
It was a small 2 story house with a simple yet rustic look with exposed bricks and a fashionable design. Walking to the door I saw a black slate next to the door, it must have been for the key card. Pressing it against the slate elicited a loud click from the door as it opened with a creek. I was met by a hallway with stairs to the second floor along with a door to my left.
The house was separated between housing and a space for electives. To be exact the top floor held a bedroom a bathroom along with a decently sized kitchen and a study while downstairs had empty spaces for whatever the students needed for their elective classes plus a room a student could customise for their own needs.
I had what I required for the time being until my electives were selected so I would just use the spare room for the most part. reaching I to my dimensional space I pulled out all I would need to create the Thorium along with a manufacturing table and a small alchemy set. It was perfect for now as it would allow me to create the basics until I get the rest of the ingredients needed to create better weaponry. I basically had a day's worth of time before classes started so I would be able to finish a project or two. First I would start with my gun and then something else, An upgrade in armour wasn't needed yet and I couldn't create 'that' until I had better equipment so I would create a replacement for that stone tablet and set up a base for the information however I doubted I could get it done in a day's worth of time, it would take at least a week to be finished but a rudementary version would be alright for now.
