It's been almost an hour since I set up the shelter and I haven't left it yet, but maybe I should? I need to look for food and also wood to make a fire.
"My limbs were a little numb when I arrived but I'm fine now, I don't need to travel far, I can look for rocks on the ground and wood from the trees here".
Getting up from the ground I took the kitchen knife and left the shelter.
//fuosh//
I adjusted my hood to better protect myself from the wind and started to search the ground.
"here is wood... well, this will do, wait, I have an inventory right? can I put the wood there?"
taking a branch of wood I thought about putting it in the inventory and it disappeared from my hand in an instant, for a moment I was confused but then I remembered what I was trying to do and checked my inventory.
[wood x1]
with that I continued collecting branches on the ground as well as rocks and some weeds that I found.
//squish// //squish///
'what's that noise? it sounds like a rat but I don't think there are any rats in this kind of place so it has to be something else.'
carefully checking my surroundings I find a white rabbit the size of a dog chewing on some weeds
//squish//
the rabbit's ears perk up and it looks around before it meets my gaze on the
'I think he noticed me I hope I didn't scare him'.
//squish!//
the white rabbit that seemed cuddly and harmless suddenly runs towards me like a hunter finding his prey!
"what? it's supposed to be just a rabbit!"
jumping aside, I manage to dodge the rabbit that lunged at me.
'well fat rat if that's the way you want to play, then so do I'.
taking the kitchen knife in my hand I prepared myself for the rabbit to launch itself at me again, and just as I expected....
//squish!//
//stab//
we both fall to the ground and roll, the furious rabbit even with its chest bleeding still doesn't give up and tries to claw at my hands holding the handle of the knife
"remove stone x1!"
I free one of my hands and hit the rabbit's head with the rock repeatedly.
the warm blood drips and the body of the rabbit impaled on the knife slowly stops struggling until it runs out of strength.
//huff// //huff///
"haa... this is horrible how can a cute little bunny turn into something like this? I have some scratch marks on my left hand."
[you have killed a level 0 mutant beast].
[acquired: wooden box x1]
a wooden box similar to the yellow one appears with a small flash, this time the box was a bit smaller and didn't look painted.
'keep it all in the inventory'.
[received]
"it's time to return to the shelter, that was enough action on my part" [received].
I wiped some of the blood on my hands with the snow on the ground, it was very cold and it felt like my hands would go numb however, at least they didn't feel sticky from the blood anymore
after that I turned around and went back to the shelter.
...
when I returned to the shelter, the first thing I did was to drain the rabbit's blood and start skinning it.
I'm lucky I was taken hunting by those old coworkers, they taught me some useful tricks that I can use now'.
carefully cutting the skin of the rabbit near the neck, I also make cuts on its legs above the knee, a cut on the head and the tail while loosening the skin with my hands.
I then made a cut from the stomach to the neck taking care not to cut too deep, I made a hole between the skin and the meat placing my fingers in between before pulling to separate them, the skin separated into two pieces but I made sure to hold the skin in place.
I broke the skin where I previously made the cuts and tore it by pulling it with force, I pulled out the legs turning them as if to extract the stumps.
I cut the head of the rabbit opening the sides of the sternum to take the rabbit's trachea from the lower part of its neck and extract it, then I cut the legs applying force to break the bones and cutting the meat through the muscles and tendons.
finally take the body by the shoulders to detach it from the skin while holding the fur and skin of the body with force.
...
"fuuh~ doing this with a rabbit this big increases the effort needed by several times, I bet removing the organs and separating the edible meat is going to be even worse.."
I couldn't help but sigh in exhaustion thinking about the arduous task ahead of me however, for now I deserved a little rest, I also had other things to do so I put the rabbit away in the inventory.
"hey system how long until the chat opens?"
[8 hs: 16 min: 23 sec]
'8 hours... still plenty of time left, I saw there was also an option for transaction maybe I could trade drinking water or rabbit meat for something I need?'
'a blanket would be nice'
I removed some branches from the inventory and began to sharpen them with the knife, one by one until I had five javelins ready to use, I also pulled out stones that I began to rub together I could make a rustic axe edge.
then I had to split the wood with the sharpened stone from the top to about the middle and although I hesitated a bit on the next part, I used the cord that my hood uses to adjust to tie the axe edge to the 'handle' of the axe.
[congratulations you have made: stone axe x1].
"uh.. thanks, I guess"
