"This Great One has tricked you! Puny Mortal You are now my SLAVE! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!" is the monologue that the Phoenix kept repeating for what looked like hours now. During the hours that passed, Chron went through all kind of emotions, which all led to his current one - Annoyance.
At first, Chron was filled with despair, but he pushed himself to look at what he missed in the contract, which apparently was a lot of pages added by the Phoenix when he turned away for a second. This only fueled the despair he was feeling at that moment, however the despair was not enough to blow out the flickering hope Chron has that the situation may not be as bad as he imagined. So he read the 100 pages he should have read before he signed the contract, it was the worst decision he had made for himself all of his life.
First of all, not all 100 pages was important, some of it was not even relevant at all and was just put there to boast about the 'Great One'*side eye*. It was a hellish reading experience, it's like reading a very badly translated novel that you put up with because you felt like making life hard for yourself, which no one would do, right?! Well, Chron endured and read all 100 pages, even the unnecessary ones in hopes that he could see a way out of the situation. The 100 pages could have been 1 page without all the self bragging in the papers.
By the end of it, instead of Chron feeling hopeless he just felt annoyed. Annoyed that he stooped so low to read that hellish contract, annoyed by the grating voice that kept reminding him of his stupidity, and annoyed by the fact that he would have to live together with this Phoenix for probably the rest of his next life.
Just thinking about all the problems he created by putting his palm on a contract made him wanna go back in time and maybe slap himself in the face to wake himself up.
However, what's done was done, Chron already made the mistake, nothing could be done to change it. All he can do now is find loopholes in the contract.
Btw, the extra papers stated this (without the unnecessary stuff):
- Chron will be a slave to the Great Phoenix.
- Chron will be sent to a new world.
- Chron will not be able to get out of the Great Phoenix's Dimension and will stay there for 1000 years.
- Any kind of attempt to get out of the Dimension within the alloted time will notify the Great Phoenix.
- Chron's Second Life will be dedicated to the Great Phoenix and should be sacrificed for the Great Phoenix, whenever the Great Phoenix wishes to.
Yeah, that was all the information hidden in the 100 pages. Just imagining getting to live with someone who managed to write I am Great in different words and in about 99 pages makes his head hurt and most of all annoyed. Firstly, there's really not a thing that puts him on a disadvantage on the contract.
He will be a slave, so what? All he has to do is to serve someone, he's done that all his life, he had also served about a thousand bosses by now, he however never served a boss as narcissistic as his current boss. The truth was, the reason he had more than a thousand bosses now, was because Chron would do almost all the work in the company. This behavior of him, made him an easy target for some bosses to exploit his talents, Chron was a hardworking person, he however was also smart and knows when to step back when he was being exploited, so he leaves the company on his own. Due to him leaving a lot of companies, he became a notorious working class person that nobody would take because, he had never lasted a month in his job. Though he was not sure if he could back out on this boss, he could also finally use all the skills he learned from all that workplaces to thrive as a one man workforce, which he wished for a while now.
The only disadvantage he really found was that he would have to live with a narcissistic person for 1000 years. The time really does not bother him at the moment, all that he can manage to think of was that he had already lived among people with mental health problems while pretending like he's one of them for 2 years and survived it, it's just 998 years more of that. Yeah, he lived with them for 2 years just to prove that he is the best at pretending to be mentally not there, however while in the asylum some person came out claiming that he did the same thing for 30 years, and wasted all of Chron's efforts. Since that time, it was made into a Guinness World of Records.
"Oh, God please give me the stregth to survive this lunatic for 1,000 years." For the first time ever, Chron was on his knees and praying with all his heart to God, which would have been comical to people who knew about him, because he never believed in God!
The laughing Phoenix also stopped laughing when he saw what Chron just did.
"Mortal, what are you doing?" - Phoenix
"Praying?" - Chron
"To who?" - Phoenix
"To my God?" - Chron
"There's no God in your planet though." - Phoenix
"There's none?" - Chron
"Yeah, that's why the Great Me managed to easily take a puny mortal like you." - Phoenix
"HA! I! WAS! RIGHT!" - Chron
"Uhh... Mortal have you lost your mind? You have been praying for his help and was in tears just a second ago." - Phoenix
"Oh.. oh yeah, Please anyone help me escape from this narcissistic lunatic in front of me right now." To the Phoenix's surprise, Chron was in knees again and was even more pious than before.
"Mortal! You are disrespecting the Great Me! How dare you look for someone to help you escape from the Greatness right in front of you?" - Phoenix
"Uhh... *gasp* someone finally answered my call!" Chron said, while looking shocked at what was behind the Phoenix.
"Who dares enter the Great One's Abode?!" is the Phoenix's immediate response before he even looked behind him, when he looked however he was blinded by his own shiny throne. By the time he recovered from the blindness, he already realized he has been tricked by Chron, and when he opened his eyes, he saw his legs moving as fast as he can, without moving a single inch from his spot.
"Mortal.. did you just try to escape from the Great Me?" - Phoenix
"Uhh..... Yeaaah?" - Chron
"..." - Phoenix
"..." - Chron
"Why?" - Phoenix
"I don't know? Maybe you should ask your Great Self." - Chron
"Well that's f*ck"ng it! I'm done with this! This Great One is now dragging you to Erithia, RIGHT NOW!" - Phoenix
"NOOOOOOOOOO!" - Chron
