Shirley first looked up Mr. Knab Relgrub on her computer but couldn't find anything about him. Shirley said, "That's weird. Nothing comes up on this guy. Maybe Relgrub wasn't always his last name." Shirley then looked into Officer Buck Test and found an article on him. Shirley said, "Says here that Officer Buck Test was a great police officer, but the one person he never caught was the one who stole the $10,000,000. He didn't have enough evidence to prove it was Elizabeth and never caught the real thief. So, the crime just ruined her life. It never got her arrested." Shirley then went to the police station and asked the chief if she could see the evidence from 1976. The police chief said, "Sure. If you can find any."
The police chief took Shirley to where they kept their evidence, and Shirley looked around. Once Shirley found a box labeled 1976, she opened it and found a bunch of papers inside. Shirley said, "Wait a minute." Shirley then looked at the documents and saw one of them was a family tree leading from her to Jennifer. Shirley said, "So she did have children." Shirley looked at another paper and saw a picture of the bank president named "Kristopher Yates." Shirley said, "Wait, Kristopher Yates. K.Y. I found those initials on the paper near Mr. Paws's car. I think these clues are beginning to add up." Shirley took the evidence box and kept it to help her solve the mystery.
Shirley returned home with the evidence box and researched Kristopher Yates on her computer. Once she did, her laptop told her all about him. Shirley read what she found and said, "Kristopher Yates was the bank president in 1976. Before his bank lost its business, he changed his name to Knab Relgrub. He wasn't very fond of Elizabeth Malice and was happy when her life was ruined, and she was excused."
Shirley then went to Knab's old house and knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Then Shirley grabbed the doorknob, walked in, and looked around. Shirley said, "Hello. Is anybody home?" Shirley took a look around the house and saw fresh footprints leading upstairs. Shirley followed the footprints upstairs to a door. Shirley peered inside and saw nobody inside, so she walked in. While inside, Shirley found some papers and Knab's journal on a desk. Shirley read Knab's journal and found a particular entry. Shirley said, "What's this? 'Everyone loves Elizabeth. They love her when they should love me. I know how to take her down, and when I do, she'll never show her face again, and everyone will pay attention to me.' Shirley shut the journal and said, "I knew it. But it still doesn't explain the missing $10,000,000." Shirley searched through the papers and found one particular one. Shirley said, "But maybe this will."
Shirley took the picture from the secret room out of her pocket and held it to the picture on the paper. Shirley saw the image of the diamond on the paper, and the picture of the diamond she found matched, and the picture of the diamond on the paper was circled with arrows. Shirley said, "That diamond has to be what Kris is after. It must be worth the money. And that's why they couldn't find it. Because the $10,000,000 was turned into a $10,000,000 diamond. Mr. Paws probably discovered the location and went after the diamond, so Kris went after him, hoping to get it first." Shirley felt accomplished and said, "I did it. I solved the mystery."
Shirley tried hurrying over to the police station, so she left the house. After she left, a guy on a jetpack shot a net at her using a crossbow, trapping her. The hooded figure then landed his jetpack, grabbed Shirley, and knocked her out while he flew her back to his hideout. Once Shirley woke up, she saw she was back in the secret room that she was in earlier. Only she was in a different part this time. Shirley got up and heard clapping. Then she turned around and saw it was the hooded figure clapping. The hooded figure said, "Bravo. Bravo, my puzzle master. You've put all the pieces together. The diamond. It's all about the diamond." The hooded figure laughed evilly, and Shirley listened to him because he was right about her. The hooded figure said, "Now. Use your sleuthing skills and find me that diamond."
Shirley said, "Like I'd ever help you." The hooded figure said, "Oh, but if you don't, you'll never see your loved ones again." The hooded figure turned on the light, and Shirley saw he had her parents tied up together. Shirley said, "You'll never get away with this, Kristopher Yates." The hooded figure said, "Kristopher Yates? Oh yes, that was one piece of the puzzle you didn't manage to put into place." The hooded figure turned on another light, and Shirley looked behind her when it did. She saw a TV screen, and the hooded figure turned it on. There was a written statement on the screen. Shirley said, "Kristopher Yates died a year after Elizabeth Malice did and gets a visitor every so often. Most likely from one of his descendants. There are no known descendants of Kristopher Yates, but his wife, Nancy Yates, still lives in Iowa and refuses to make a statement to anyone." The hooded figure said, "Yes, Iowa isn't far from here, but don't even think I'm his wife because I'm not. And to prove I'm also fair, you have three days to bring that diamond back here, or you'll never see your parents again." The mysterious figure then pulled a lever, and it opened a trap door on the floor. Shirley fell into the trap door and ended up in The Mississippi River.
Shirley started to flow down The Mississippi River with his current and tried to swim for it in the opposite direction, but the water current was too strong for her to fight. Once she reached the river's end, she ended up in The Gulf of Mexico. Once she got there, she saw a beach in Mexico that was not far away, but then she saw a shark fin swim by her. Shirley said, "Oops. I forgot The Gulf of Mexico is full of sharks." Shirley looked behind her and saw a school of sharks headed for her, so she swam for it. Then a helicopter flew overhead, dropped her a ladder, and she climbed it before the sharks got her. Once Shirley reached the top, she climbed into the aircraft and thanked the pilot for saving her. The pilot then flew them to safety and landed them in Mexico. Shirley said, "Great, I'm 1690 miles from home. The bad guy has my parents, and I have three days to give him the diamond before he kills them. What am I going to do?"
